The Brixton is a super neat place small plate and bar spot around the East side of Westside. There is a nice, dark modern and rustic feel to the place due to the wooden tables and bar and dim lighting. The happy hour menu is pretty awesome so I’d advice to aim for that if you can make it at that time. There is a nice drink and beer selection that includes delirium tremens and blue label, depending on what tickles your fancy. There’s two flat screens too, which makes this place a considerable location for sports events. We also tried the much raves about Short Rib Poutine. Definitely not the poutine you may be used to, but very fanciful and akin to what you’d get from City Tavern in Culver City. It comes in a cast iron pan with cheese melted over the fries and decent pieces of short Rib. It’s is definitely gravy-licious, maybe overly so. The dish overall is decent. May have been over hyped by the reviews, but if you get it during happy hour, it’s definitely a good deal and a great food addition to the drinks.

Wow. Amazing. Their reuben is literally to die for. I really underestimated just how much I was going to enjoy it. We ordered the poutine and kale salad as well, but honestly, everything pales in comparison to that delectable, heavenly reuben. Definitely a fun place to come for appetizers and drinks. Although, you will probably leave full because it is near impossible to stop yourself from stuffing your face the second you start eating. I cannot wait to come back. Pro-Tip: There IS parking in the lot in back. At night the signs are very dark so it’s hard to tell if it’s legal parking or not, but it is!

Great cocktails! Had the Perry, Manhattan Mule, and Adult Dessert Drink(ADD) — all delicious. I can’t wait to come back to try their food! Flank steak, almost cioppino, sea bass, tuna tartare, roasted cauliflower and roasted beets to be exact.

Brixton is a great place to go for a drink and some food. The bartenders are super nice and know how to make a mean drink. The servers are hilarious and super honest. They’ll tell you what’s good and what to skip. Must try: Flank Steak Short Rib Melt Duck Poutine Meh: Beef Cheek Mac N Cheese Beets Skip: Tiramisu dessert The only negative thing about this place is the parking. Good luck finding a spot in the back and the street parking is reserved for permit holders.

Came here for the first time with some friends. I was pretty unimpressed. The lay out is strange its kind of empty in the middle and I don’t know if that’s why the acoustics are so bad. It’s extremely loud so had to yell to talk. It took a while for our server to come over and the front door hostess didn’t know what the happy hour was. The hostess is the main employee you see and she should know what the hh is. Parking is a pain too– not their fault. We ordered the Mac and cheese which was soupy but had good flavor, the Poutine was good, and goat cheese plus An order of fries. Overall it was a fine experience but there are so many other places. If I lived walking distance I would go again but since I don’t I doubt I will be back.

I’ve been here a few times with friends and I’ve really enjoyed myself, mostly due to the help of bartender Rojia. She’s great at suggesting things we might like and just generally making us comfortable while we try the food and drinks. Her cocktail game is A+ and I’ve enjoyed everything she’s made for us, even though it was the craft beer selection that originally drew me to this place. I’ll definitely be dropping by from time to time. Only negative– the 3:30 to 6:30 happy hour is odd. Just make it 4 to 7pm, right?

Parking was a little tough and it was only a tuesday night and the area was dead. Street parking in the neighborhoods after 9pm during the week… nice clean restaurant, decent wine and beer selection. they have delerium tremons in the bottle so that’s always nice :) tried the carrot app which was good, the pastrami was very good although a little on the small side, and also got the mac and chz topped with some lite breadcrumbs and bacon, which had good flavor but slightly soupy. overall an ok shared dinner for 2 with 2 beers and a pinot for under 80 bux.

Beautiful place with great ambiance. The chefs Joe and Devon are very talented. I never would have eaten something with the name cheek in it but after chef Joe and Devon generously let me try it I was floored at the amazing flavor and tenderness. I ate it so quickly I forgot to take a pic but did get one of the watermelon app– seared watermelon with goat cheese/pine nuts — delicious! The bogey cocktail is like no other! Smooth, flavorful not too tart, not too sweet. We love this new place in our neighborhood– yay for the brixton!!!

I love this place. I have driven by it numerous times, and finally it came in my mind and with intention drove there. I found a space on the street, but the area is pretty crowded. I sat at the bar, and the bartender(a woman with shorter hair) could not have been more friendly or professional. I was watching the Clippers, and she was very attentive. I ordered a manhattan mule based on her suggestion and it was a fantastic drink — not in a copper cup, but still delicious. My entrée was the mac and cheese. This is no normal mac and cheese — it comes in a skillet(I like anything in a skillet – if they brought me dog food in a skillet I would probably like fyi) but it was not heavy with cheese – it was loaded with lobster and bacon. It looked super heavy, but really was not, and the perfect size — it was fantastic. I need to try this place again and more things for a 5 star — but i would HIGHLY recommend. Oh, it was crowded when I left.

I have really mixed feelings about The Brixton, where I went for a business lunch. Here’s why: My meal turned out to be amazingly delicious. But, first when I arrived I had trouble figuring out if the lot out back was for them or not, and it caused me a little concern because I couldn’t find much in the way of street parking. Eventually I just parked there and I didn’t get a ticket so, yay! The atmosphere was cool, but I am sure the place is a lot more interesting for happy hour. At lunch it was pretty sparse in terms of patrons. That did make it more chill for us. Then I went to order. I wanted the short rib sandwich, BUT I absolutely do not like sourdough bread, I asked if I could get it on literally any other bread. The waiter said«no», then he went back to the kitchen to check, came back and said«yeah, no, because we don’t have any other bread.» What I was thinking was: «uh, you have another sandwich listed right above it on the menu… using a different kind of bread!!» what kind of a place is this? I mean what restaurant doesn’t have more than one kind of bread and what kind does but tells you they don’t? It was weird and annoying. Hence my knocking off a couple of stars. Because what I will tell you is that I ended up ordering the Pork Belly. It was uniquely great — came with good sized, well seasoned pieces of fried polenta(a fave of mine), and more importantly the pieces of pork themselves, while still being fatty, to provide flavor, were cooked crispy in a way that made them just really good too eat, not fatty gelatinous, but just downright tasty. There were flavors and sauces and other things on the plate and all of it just created a party of contrasting flavors and textures that worked really well! I’ll consider going back because of the food. But the place does seem a little«off» to me.

We went to Santa Monica for a weekend trip and I used Unilocal to find a place within walking distance from the hotel where we could get some good drinks and apps. The Brixton is a cool little spot with a fun ambiance on a busy street in Santa Monica. We came during HH and they have several drink specials and food specials available. We decided to go with a few small plates and I also got a vodka soda and sauvigon blanc. Their wine selection wasn’t amazing on HH, but at $ 4 a glass, I am not complaining! We started out with the tuna tartar: A — Tuna was great and the tempura avocado was a nice touch. Some taro chips or something on the side would have made a great compleement to this dish. I also thought it was plated beautifully. Mahi Mahi lettuce wraps: A The mahi was fresh with great flavors. I really enjoyed the mango salsa, We ate every bite! Grilled Veggie Salad with Chicken: A + Yummy! This salad had many different veggies, including asparagus and sweet potatoes. I thought this salad was amazing and probably didn’t even need a protien. The dressing was very good too. This was a great great salad! Solid place, 4 stars!

I live so close to this place that I could throw a rock and that rock would go about, I dunno, maybe 100 feet closer to this place. Then I’d still have to walk another six or so blocks to get to the restaurant. Still, that’s pretty close. And that rock is a little closer. I think they just opened up but I don’t know when and I am too lazy — scratch that, disinterested — to look it up. I had seen the place under construction for a little while. I came in on a Saturday night with my friend and my lady. Three’s a crowd but they made room for us at a hightop table right in the middle. Let’s see, what was good? What wasn’t good! Everything we had was great, and as you may know, great is greater than good. And there is no greater good than great food. Or maybe charity. But I am more into food if I’m being honest. There were some poutine fries, there were some mahi mahi tacos, there were a few other things that I can remember but one of them had beef in it maybe. All good. Beers on tap, all good. Old fashioned, all good. Street parking, got lucky. I’ll be back said the Terminator. And when he said it we all believed it.

Let’s see… I ended up here on a Saturday night after a long brunch(7 hours) with a big group of drunk gals. So naturally we were pretty worn out before hitting the bars that evening. We started at Barkowski, but once all of our friends arrived, one of them was complaining about the lack of hard liquor. Per his recommendation we headed to The Brixton next door. The ambiance here was great. We arrived around 10pm. I didn’t really get to try any of their drinks or food. All I had was a shot of grey goose because my friend didn’t want to drink his. Oh wait, one of the other guys bought us a round of lemon drops. I think I will have to rate this place again when I’ve tried more and had less to drink. :p My experience is solely based on the company that was present. We had a group of about 10 guys from our undergrad days. I went from a long conversation with 3 attorneys regarding online dating sites(and the way they treated women) to ending the night speaking to my friend who headed a platoon in Afghanistan telling me how obsessed the marines were with Taylor Swift’s music and their talent for her choreography. God, I just love my life these days. I get to work hard and play hard. I will be back Brixton! Be ready for me!!!

Caught up with some friends for lunch. Great spot, good service, great tasty and fresh food. Reuben, grilled vegetable salad, ravioli and skirt steak was super tasty. The chef, maybe owner stopped by to check all was good and we were happy which was nice. Will come back again.

I am obsessed with this new restaurant! I live a block away and I’ve been dying try this place for months while it was under construction. Once I saw it was finally open, I jumped at the opportunity to come here. I started off with a cocktail name the Perry — it’s made out of gin, strawberry, rosemary, lemon, and Serrano pepper. It was fantastic! It was pink and had a kick at the end. I would totally come back here solely to have this drink. I split the rest of the dishes with my friend and we ordered the following: Mac’n’cheese — Delectable! This dish is so complex and every bite is a surprise of flavors. It is hearty and made with bacon, crab, scallions, tomato, smoked mozzarella, smoked gouda, Swiss cheese, and bread crumbs. I am definitely going to order this every time I come back here. Butter Lettuce Salad — So crisp and clean! It is presented beautifully and it’s so refreshing. It is made with sliced apple, toasted almonds, pickled cucumber, and fennel. The butter vinaigrette dressings is so delicious and the pickled cucumber gives the salad an interesting taste to it. Sea Bass — I wasn’t a huge fan of this. I feel like it needed more seasoning and just tasted like straight up fish. I would skip this dish if I come back. Overall, this restaurant is amazing. The service is friendly and fast. The food is so delicious. And it’s a laid back place to go with friends without a huge crowd or line of people. In Santa Monica, I call that a gem.

My girlfriend and I randomly stumbled into this place looking for a beer and some food on a Monday night. It was quiet and comfortable. We didn’t really know what to expect, but we ordered a couple of craft beers, a couple of drinks and some food. The food is a bunch of small plates so we shared 3 of them. Mac and cheese(smoked cheese + bacon), watermelon salad and the meat sandwhich. They were all delicious and left us very satisfied! So much so that we came back the following night for more beer and three new dishes(we really loved the mac and cheese, so we ordered this over again). The dishes are well composed, with many unexpected flavors. Typical comfort food. I would highly recommend going here for a low key drink and some good food! The only thing I would wish I could say to the owners though, is do something with the insane smell of cinnamon in the restroom. It smells like someone broke a bottle of fireball in there, it made us sick! *Update* Owner has fixed the cinnamon smell! Yay!

Santa Monica needed this. An upscale, simple yet elegant, with a menu that is EXTREMELY unique. If you taste buds are looking for West Hollywood and Beverly Hills quality, but in a non-stuck up environment, I’m glad I found this place. I just found out it just opened up this weekend and it was already packed! The price is average for what Santa Monica provides. Be warned however, you’re paying for quality, not quantity at this join… so if you’re looking for a «Cabo Cantina» or «Sharkees» portion size meal… maybe this is not your place. But if your looking for good quality food, good atmosphere, and drinks… try this place out. Well, here is my experience. I ordered an appetizer that consist of Bread, Jam and Goat cheese. VERY different, but it was good. For dinner my friend had the Ruben which I took a bite of, and its a winner. So I’m ordering that the next time I come. I personally ordered the steak flank which came with 6 strips of steak and 6 high quality mushrooms. Someone mentioned they only got 3 strips of steak… if that was true, she probably deserved it for pretending to be a «foodie» reviewer with her 7 reviews in 2 years. Anyhow, with that being said, I was surprised by the presentation. Drinks were great. They have the only full service bar around this area. And i told the waitress to tell the bartender to make me something«tart» and«spicy» and I got a perfectly mixed drink. The interior is dim and classy. They definitely took a page out of «Edison’s Downtown LA». Great first date spot. Come dress casual. Oh, and they have two TV’s and had college football on both screens at the bar. It rests above the liquor so TV lights don’t ruin the atmosphere. Way to go, whomever made this place. My new favorite spot in Santa Monica. P. S. There are two owners. One of the owners is a hot blonde girl, apparently she is single(because I asked, why not!?)… yet, I have never seen her twirl her hair. I guess the other female reviewer was just bitter because life doesn’t like her.
