A beautiful day bike riding along the beach with my husband, life couldn’t get any better! Then our of no where hunger hit us. We pull over at this beach café I have seen a million times but never tried. Of course my suspicions that food would be very overpriced were confirmed but we were hungry and eating on the sand overlooking the beach was just the perfect lunch setting to continue our date day. There are places to leave your bike and we picked a front table. Burger took about 15 mins to prepare which felt just about right. It was not the best burger I have ever had but it was good. It was nice to not have to worry about our bikes, great setting, and very convenient to the bike path. After eating we hoped back on our bikes to enjoy the rest of our day. No muss, no fuss, just full bellies and slightly lighter pockets :)

Don’t trust them with your ID and Credit Card! I rented a surf board, beach chair and umbrella last week Sunday around noon… they said that they needed to hold my credit card and ID. So when I came back about 50 minutes later they couldn’t find it, but my girlfriend and I couldn’t hang out all day to argue with the kids. They insisted that I pay cash and — had to drive a few hundred miles back home without my card and license ending our vacation early. We lost out on our vacation because everything was in my name and I didn’t have my license or card that the reservations were under. I called the store to follow up if they had found my ID/Credit Card, and the staff said they knew nothing about my rental. I thought it is possible that it was stolen by someone that initially rented it to me if it’s true that they couldn’t find my paperwork or credit card/ID. So today I called one last time and got someone else on the phone. This person found it in 20 seconds. They said they would put it in the mail tomorrow, so I’ll be following up one final time to make sure that happens. I hope that others find this post useful. For those who are on vacation, look for someone else to rent from. It’s not safe to let anyone else touch your ID or Credit Card. If anyone knows of another rental shop that takes a deposit instead of «keeping» your ID/Credit Cards — please share for other Unilocal users to check out. I think there was another place called Jay’s Rentals nearby, but I’m not sure if they hold your wallet items or take a deposit. So I’m back from vacation now and get to put my life on hold until the DMV and bank send me replacements. I also have my originals coming in the mail. I need my items back because I don’t want a kid running around LA buying alcohol under my identity. Don’t let this happen to you, rent from someone else. I was very courteous to the staff throughout this whole ordeal, but this kind of rating is what I feel is appropriate for the business. The guy wasn’t treating my girlfriend and I well when he couldn’t find my stuff at the store and wanted me to wait forever so they could tend to other customers. I doubt that he even looked around or knew where to look. I asked if the other guy was still around to look for it, but that question didn’t get us anywhere. At the time it was declared that I must not have ever given it to them and insisted that I pay in cash. The vacation was supposed to be me treating my girlfriend to a great vacation week and ended up like this. At least we went a few hundred miles to be at the beach for an hour. HAH, kidding. Thanks to this business. I knew they took my ID& Bank Card, it took a week for them to realize that they had it the whole time. I’ll carry more ID while traveling and open secondary cards in fear that I might run into a joke like this again.

The food is nothing special but this place gets 1 star because of their incredibly slow service. The first time I went during lunchtime on a Saturday, I had to wait 35 minutes for 2 simple entrees. I gave them one more chance and went during lunchtime on another Saturday and waited over 20 minutes for 1 entrée. Definitely won’t go again and will bring my food to the beach next time. What a shame though because it is in such a convenient location!

Great setting. A simple beach shack on the sand in Santa Monica. Great location with pleasant service. A more comprehensive menu than you might expect for such a place. Some really excellent dishes but some inconsistencies. Like a first rate cheeseburger with cold fries. Awesome mahi mahi tacos with a homemade salsa better than you will find about anywhere but hard to eat bland chicken salad sandwich. Music was too loud for us old farts.

I came here on a Saturday morning with my boyfriend to go rollerblading on the pier and then have breakfast(I know way cutesy right? it’s been on my bucket list for a long time!) Unfortunately, they only had roller skates — not blades — which reminded us of the middle school roller skating parties we used to go to lol but it was still really fun! The guy checking us in at the rental place wasn’t too friendly, but it didn’t bother us because we were too excited. The skating was really fun — we did it for an hour and the weather was amazing. Afterwards, we came to order breakfast, but they said breakfast was closed. I was super bummed at first because I read on Unilocal the breakfast burrito was good, but instead I got the tuna melt with side salad which was OUTOFTHISWORLD! So good. My boyfriend even wished he got it(although he did love his fish tacos too). Overall, great place to rent bikes or skates and then grab some food!

Way overpriced, poor quality food, and very stingy. Wouldn’t even refill a soft drink and made me pay extra for ranch dressing on top of what I ordered.

My husband and I were on a crazy 35 mile bike ride of the strand and stopped here for a quick break and lunch. They had a decent variety of menu items to choose from. The prices were overpriced, as to be expected, but the portion we received was decent. We were able to eat at a table in the sand… and I love eating with my toes in the sand, with a view of the ocean. If you’re at the beach or on the strand, you won’t find the greatest deals but it’s definitely an okay place to stop for some grub.

Overpriced food and service is crap! I only go here if I am super desperate, but after today, I may just suffer a day at the beach with no food.

I would give them 5 starts but the wait for the food was 40 minutes. we had to go back and keep checking and the last time we check the girl said, we’ve been calling you, we were right there they didn’t call us. The food is great, the location doesn’t get any better, right on the sand. The problem is people sit there forever and read their books and do all their computer work or just get tan, hours after they ate or drank coke. So if it’s busy, good luck. they need to get the order going and clean up the tables more often, otherwise, it’;s great.

Fruit smoothies, overpriced, overly sweet, no real fruit, just chemicals. Yuck. The place itself is on the beach, which is nice. What a shame.

My post Marathon meal! Awesome GUACAMOLETURKEYBURGER as recommended by their staff. Last thing I wanted to do was to think and choose so I let others decide where to eat and what to eat. But yeah, it was very fulfilling. It was across the street of LAM finish line so we walked. The weather was at high 90’s so the location played along. Beach side, iced diet coke, outside seating and happy people around us made it a super great Sunday. My friends enjoyed their chicken strips and quesadilla with hot crispy fries dipped in mayo and ketchup. It was so relaxing that I buried my feet in the sand!

Perry’s Café is located right on the sand in beautiful Venice Beach. With an excellent view of the ocean and parallel to the bike path, it’s a great place to people watch. We weren’t staying long or I would have totally gotten the butler service. Where for $ 50 you get a waiter, a nice spot on the sand with beach chairs and water bottles brought to you every 30 minutes or for $ 100 it comes with everything mentioned above plus lunch. If you aren’t Perry royalty you order your food at the café window and pick it up when your number is called. I ordered a tuna melt(11.95) and my friend had the steak burrito(10.95). It was made fairly quickly. My tuna melt was meh. Way too cheesy, in my opinion. Her steak burrito was very good. I wish I had ordered that. Good thing BFFs share everything! Water was $ 3.50. That’s a lot! But, I guess they know people will need it and will buy it. The scenery and people watching was awesome. Fun place to park your bike and grab a bite to eat. They also do bike rentals. 1 hour — $ 10 3 hours — $ 15 All day — $ 30 Perry’s Beach Café, 3 stars!

My wife and I come here almost every weekend when the weather is good. There is usually not too many people there which always amazes me. The food is good. The atmosphere is nice. Very relaxing. Not the cheapest food ever but certainly reasonable. They also play good music. Overall, we enjoy this place a lot and it is a good spot to just relax.

A nice place along the beach area in front of the Santa Monica parking lot. They have a very extensive menu, much larger than you might expect. Just for the relaxation and the views this is a nice place to hang out

The Steak Burrito is tasty choice to refuel at the end of the Venice Beach Boardwalk. A little pricey, but what you’d expect. 3⁄5 Salsa Packets.

Came here to meet up with a few friends. She’s been coming here religiously every weekend and loves the fact that not only is short term parking is cheap and plentiful, but also that this place is not crowded. What you do: order first then grab seats on the sand. Preferably by the bike path(just a mere suggestion to up your viewing pleasure). What a great spot to people watch. Ordered: High Tide Burger — served on a sesame brioche bun, topped with a couple of onion rings. This burger really hit the spot. Moist beef Gravy fries –maybe it’s the whole poutine boom, but I found this to be a simple dish but tasty enough. Ambience was great. Quite laissez faire. You can literally just sit there for hours. They do offer some other services. That being said, not only will I be coming back to rent out a couple of bikes, I need to investigate this butler service of theirs.

Not bad. You’re paying for the chairs and the view mostly of course but the food is OK. They forgot a kid’s drink with our order but they fixed it right up. Their chicken burrito was better than the chicken strips because the strips were processed chicken and what you’ll find in the burrito is real chicken. Great spot to chill without worrying about blankets, umbrellas, etc.

Where do you go to get a butler… on the beach? Well the answer is you drive all the way out to Santa Monica, because Perry’s not only has a café, and not only does rentals, but he also has Beach Butler Service. What is this you ask? Well, $ 50 gets you a nice guy in a butler t-shirt, who will drag two lounge chairs, a small table, an umbrella, a little cooler with 2 bottles of water and a wind guard out to the beach and then check on you every 30 minutes or so to bring you anything you might want from their shop or restaurant. Or for $ 100, you all of that plus lunch & two towels. While it’s not exactly the most luxurious of furniture(beach chairs are not terribly comfortable and the foot rest piece comes off) it was a cool experience and I would do it again a little differently. Here’s how: ***Bring your own towels: the one’s that they gave us in the $ 100 package were pretty cheap and I wish that we would have brought our nice ones from the house. It’s not worth upgrading the package for those towels. ***Go for the $ 50 package and bring your own food: When I spoke to the guy I made a reservation from, I asked how lunch worked with the $ 100 package and whether we were given a $ 50 food/beverage credit. I don’t think he understood what I was asking because he told me yes but that is not how it works. Basically, you get to choose the lower grade things off their menu in the form of one entrée, side dish and drink. For example, you can have one all-beef hot dog, French fries and a coke X2 because it’s for two people… not worth the additional $ 50 and the food choices for the package were terrible(see picture). Taste-wise my fish tacos, and my fiancée’s pizza combo was average at best; if I had paid a la carte, the food would not have knocked my socks off so next time I’ll bring something great. ***Put up your wind guard: Our sweet butler offered to put up our wind guard and we didn’t really think we needed it. While it was windy, I think the real benefit would have been the extra space and privacy as the beach is super crowded.
