It’s always a risk trying a new salon but rest assured there is no risk here. It’s my opinion that they have the right person for each client.
I made a call based on the reviews I read and they were able to make an appointment me for me the same day. When I got there I was greeted by very nice people and was offered something to drink while I waited for a consultation (which I thought was kinda weird). It wasnt weird at all in fact I felt very taken care of and thought I got an expert opinion.
Melody was who was thought to best suit my haircut needs and I thought that she did an excellent job. She explained the value added services that are included after a «full» appointment which made the price seem more than fair.
I highly recommend Luxe Lab !

Michelle is my stylist and has done an amazing job with my cut and color! She is a great listener and actually does what works for me as opposed to just what she thinks looks good. I love coming here — spending time with her is like sitting with a long time friend. Ask for her, you will be in the best hands!

To begin she was available when I arrived a few minutes early and the appointment was almost exactly as long as she stated. If my haircut was not proof enough her timeliness tells me she really knows her stuff.
I showed up with pictures and a hairstyle in mind and she said no problem. When she had her design in mind she consulted a co-​worker just to confirm her design thought. I appreciated this because I am sort of a perfectionist and I would not want my hair to be messed up because we didn’t spend 3 extra minutes on a «discount double check».
The cut was a little longer than I am used to as this is my first salon experience but the time and quality are worth it.

I’ve just chosen my hair stylist for life! Michelle is a master at color, cut, AND styling. She is the balayage QUEEN. I stumbled on her Instagram and couldn’t help but notice how all of her work was very precise, fluid and true works of art. Coming in, I had grown-​out highlights and asked for something that would keep the blonde accents but not require any maintenance for a year because I’m traveling around the world. She looked at my hair so carefully, and told me exactly what she envisioned. I’ve never trusted a salon with my hair, but her confidence in what she wanted to do with mine and how it would not only fit my face, but also my lifestyle, I was already convinced that I could trust her. This girl has AMAZING customer service and work ethic. Starting with the set up, I knew exactly what to expect and she made sure we were on the same page in terms of what the outcome would be. Then as she worked diligently, we had the most amazing conversations. She’s so approachable and personable that I ended up learning about life, more about humanity, and empowering lessons for myself. Talk about a bonus! She values relationships with her customers and its that love and her heart of gold that makes the quality of results above and beyond. I have never been happier with my hair! A couple weeks later and I am still getting compliments! If you want your hair done right, go to Michelle!!! The best hair stylist at the best salon!

Luxelab is one of those professional places that you go to with the expectation that you will be taken care of. The difference is that when you pick Loni you will get someone that not only has the knowledge but makes you feel comfortable.
I am 69 years old and I train for marathons. I only tell you this because I have several issues. I love highlights and lowlights– Loni is faced with a women who is in the sun all the time — so my hair is fried– the blonde tends to loss it’s luster and the grey starts showing — Not to mention the frizz — -I must admit-​I come in looking like a challenge–
Loni knows my hair — knows the direction it wants to go and removes the grey — replaces the highs and the lows with soft blondes and I look like I can walk on a red carpet.
I used to spend many, many hours under the dryer with each stage to bring my color up to the desired shade but somehow that is not what happens under Loni’s watch.
Honestly, from my heart– she is current (styling wise) — on time– and a true professional.
I promise you will change your stylist and colorist —-and stick with her– I used to go to a hair salon a few blocks away and changed — Take a chance.

I had a fantastic experience at LuxeLab! The receptionist was friendly & helpful. Off street parking provided. I was referred by a friend who has been going to an amazing colorist called Rayford. He is AMAZING! I had quite a long appointment as I have very long hair & had some color issues to be fixed. Rayford asked questions, was incredibly knowledgeable & did a beautiful job. I was a bit nervous as I’ve had bad experiences with stylists in the past, but it seems I found a great guy who will take care of my hair.

Megan Last did my hair for a masquerade-​themed wedding in October, and it was so, so, so, SO awesome!!! I can’t recommend Megan highly enough. She was SO sweet and kind, and totally listened to me and talked me through some creative style ideas, and then the product was AMAZING !!! Check out attached pics! I was SO pleased with her (and with LuxeLab, and their staff, always!), and I got SO many compliments on my hair. My hair was literally the star of the wedding!

Before reading this note that I have not been to the salon and this is purely based on my over the phone experience with the receptionist.
I called this morning to make an appointment. My goal was to find an available time that worked with my work schedule. I am a blonde and have had a hard time finding stylists who really understand how to «do blonde.» I asked the receptionist if there was anyone there who specialized in blondes. She replied that everyone was great at it and that I could come in for a consolation. *Automatic red flags.*
I told her I wanted to schedule around who was best for blondes. After repeating their process several times to me it was clear she was not understanding my need but rather trying to convince me that I should follow the process and trust that it would lead to the best person (even if the best person actually was not available on the date I had come in but would have been available on another date).
She explained that she did not know who was best because she only does the scheduling. She also told me rather rudely that she was «not sure why this was so difficult.» I assured her it was not and that I just wanted to know who is recommend for blondes at their salon. After several mins I asked to have one of their Directors call me back since this was going nowhere.
I have now decided to go with another salon which is sad because I think this looks like a great place but the experience I have had with their receptionist really put me off…

Luxelab is great and Loni is simply AWESOME! She’s professional, easy to talk to, & a total hair expert! I’ve been a model for her in the past & just yesterday we started playing around with my color. We spent a decent amount of time talking about options & playing with some ideas we’ve both had about which direction to go & long-​term goals. She gave me a balayage treatment that really beautifully lightened my hair & gave some great dimension between my natural color & the new highlights. We’ll be moving on to brighter & bolder colors in the future, but this first step (which I love in its own right, too) will set me up for more awesome bold color down the line.
The salon is fantastic & Loni is 100% my gal. I live in DTLA and am happy to make my way to Santa Monica just to see Loni & the Luxelab team. You’re in great hands with her.

This is specifically for Liz, who is a color magician! I went in with a horrible ombré (basically orange with 2 inches of brown root) that someone else messed up, and Liz gave me back my warm brown undertones with a beautiful balayage that looks so natural! She really thinks about your hair texture, coloring, and styling habits to give you the best dye job possible, and she’s such a rad person overall! Liz gave me a gorgeous, low maintenance hair style that I’m in love with. Your hair is in expert hands, trust me! Never going to anyone else for color
In regards to the salon– it is really nice and well-​kept, and everyone was friendly and professional. I’m sure you would be in great hands with anyone, but if you’re looking for a new color definitely seek out Liz. I found her on Unilocal so I know where you’re at right now!

I had my first hair appointment with Liz Calo and it was one of the best experiences I’ve had thus far, for a thousand reasons. I would describe Liz’s approach to her work as that of a color/​hair strategist. She absolutely loves what she does and infuses that passion into her clients hair.
Liz took A LOT OF TIME learning about my hair and goals, and began working with me yesterday to achieve those goals. Her ideas and approach were innovative.
When I walked in, my hair was a disaster… She was my Red Cross for Hair. I needed color correction, in addition to a thousand other things, so, so, so many things. With each issue, Liz had a solution and a plan.
I walked in feeling vile and walked out feeling amazing.
I felt great for two reasons: we bonded. I connected with a remarkable person. I admire the hell out of Liz. I feel tremendously lucky to have had an opportunity to meet her, spend time with her, and really talk to and get to know her. Combined with a fantastic haircut and color, I felt nourished and sated.
Liz also taught me something very important… I had this notion that I was being shallow because of my hair goals. Her response was, and I’m paraphrasing because I don’t remember her exact words, «It’s not just hair. It’s your hair and that matters.»
If you’re looking for a truly unique experience, exquisite hair color and an opportunity to get to know an incredibly kind and generous soul, run like a dawg and see Liz.

When I moved to Santa Monica one of the first things I did was try to find a great stylist. After going to few salons I didn’t think I would find anyone as good as the person that had been cutting my hair for many years. By chance I made a appointment at Luxlab. I haven’t been to any other salon since because of a fabulous stylist, Marcos.
It’s great to find someone that listens to your professional and personal hair needs. That may sound odd but I style my hair different based on what my day holds. That being said Marcos gives me a cut that is perfect! The photo doesn’t do the cut justice. I will be sure to take a better one on my next visit.
This is one of the best salons I have ever encountered. The desk staff always finds a way to fit me in at the last moment. I travel extensively and it’s difficult for me to set appointments in advance. It’s nice to know I no longer have to look my further for styling excellence!

Liz Calo is an absolutely fabulous person– I trust her with any and everything having to do with my hair. She’s a great person to talk to if you are specifically looking into getting your hair colored. She can do subtle to extreme, and anywhere in between. The facility overall is a really nice place. It is extremely clean, and located in a great part of Santa Monica to walk around and explore. The prices are not cheap, I won’t lie. But the quality I have received at Luxe Lab is quite honestly worth every penny.

Marcos is a gem! I walked in with hair that hadn’t been cut in three years! Literally! He listened to everything I had in mind and helped me through a drastic hair change as well as my first dyeing job. I LOVE my hair!!! Went from shoulder length drab brown hair to a short, fun, curly, blue, asymmetrical bob… And I can honestly say not only does my hair look great but I now look at least five years younger. Talk about a confidence boost for a mom. Thank you Marcos!

After years of being disappointed with my hair salon experiences, it was a breathe of fresh air to finally get exactly what I have been asking for! Beth Montgomery listened to what I wanted (a brass free blonde) and I could not be happier with the results. (I’m so happy I’d give her 10 stars if I could)
She also noticed how uneven my layers were in the back, and fixed them for me. I air dry my hair and let it curl naturally, and I’ve noticed a nicer curl thanks to the fantastic cut.
A great, fashionable salon, and an overall great experience! I’ve found my new salon home and stylist.

I walked in with unwashed, fresh-​from-​sweaty yoga hair and everyone treated me like I was important. That was so great, as I felt a bit self-​conscious looking the way I did. But, as this was a spontaneous after yoga class decision, it couldn’t be helped. My stylist, James, did an AMAZING job salvaging a terrible haircut I had been sporting for a few weeks, completely unsure what to do with. He listened to my concerns, set me at ease, didn’t laugh at my yoga hair and then proceeded to snip and shape and layer my hair into a really great cut! Plus, his head massage while washing my hair was better than most massage therapists I’ve had! I’m so pleased with my experience here. Especially because they fit me in last minute as a walk-​in.
A little update: James moved salons and I went it to see Jessica recently. Another amazing stylist! And a fabulous personality. We had so much fun chatting while she meticulously trimmed my long hair and gave me a perfect fringe!
I feel like you just can’t go wrong here! Over the past ten years, I have always booked with a random stylist because I am spontaneous when it comes to hair cuts. Every time I am happy. Every time!

I love Jen Beckerman! She is the best hairdresser I’ve ever had and I’ve been seeing her now for about 5 years. Jen is a true master when it comes to cut and color. She is a perfectionist (in the best way possible) and always takes the time to make sure my hair looks perfect and that I am completely happy.
When I first met Jen, I had never colored my hair because I was too scared and worried what it would look like. But, after a few skillful cuts with Jen, I knew I could trust my virgin hair with her. She slowly introduced some highlights into my hair and my mind was blown. I was ecstatic with the results.
Not only is Jen a master at her craft, she is friendly, welcoming, and she has a great sense of humor that really helps pass the time in the chair.
I’ve recent moved 2 hours away from Luxe Lab, but I refuse to let anyone else touch my hair. I will be planning my trips to LA around my hair appointments with Jen.

I’ve been to a lot of places to get my hair cut and I honestly feel at home here, specifically with Ozzie!
I’m Sicilian so my hair is a big part of my life and I know I am in good hands. I’ve been with Ozzie for a few years now and he’s kept me fresh, up to date and stylish ever since. My girlfriend had been going to him for a while and reco’d him so I thought I’d give him a try.
Ozzie is constantly combing the globe for what’s hot in fashion, art and music. He listens to what his clients want and interprets that to what will look best for them.
On top of a great cut, Ozzie is always dressed fresh to death and full of great conversation.
Ozzie is not only a stylist, he’s an experience!

Always a treat to go see Ozzie at Luxelab! I’ve been seeing him for two years now for both cut and color. I walk away looking and feeling great. never boring or basic! I’ve been to the moon and back… short, long, layers, shags, shoulder length, a million shades of dark, shades of blonde, ombré, asian blonde :) Always versatile! The best thing is he always styles it in a way that looks great done, and always looks great when I air dry or roll out of bed (which is great because I like relatively low maintenance hair).
I can tell Ozzie the feel and look I want and he goes with it! I trust Ozzie’s opinion and taste like no other. He always has me feeling like my hair is stylish enough to be in a look book. The proof is in the loads of compliments my hair gets from all types of people, guys and gals alike.
