I had lunch at Crescendo, taking a break from shopping the 50% off sale at Fred Segal, and even though the food was good(albeit overpriced), the service and atmosphere were HORRIBLE. Waiters clanking dishes loudly and breaking water glasses while putting them away, bumping unapologetically into our chairs and not being attentive at all. No water refills whatsoever and no checking with us to see if we needed anything. We were sitting at the counter and I had asked a waiter who was standing nearby for a box for our leftovers but he didn’t even acknowledge me. Finally my friend ducked behind the counter and got one herself. The waiter gave us the evil eye after that. Maybe go during off-peak hours, i.e. NOT lunch time, and then you’ll get some attention.

i agree, this place is a hidden gem. the food is among the best italian i’ve ever had, prices are very reasonable, and best of all, the FREEPARKING. being inside fred segal, i also have great fun celeb-watching.

Crescendo gets 4 stars mainly because it’s not as spendy as the rest of Fred Segal, and for that, it gets 4 stars. When I called to make a reservation at lunchtime, the man on the phone told me I didn’t need one, but he saved a table for me anyway. We had yummy salads, some spaghetti that wasn’t swimming in marinara sauce, and a plate of Italian fries that were cooked just right. The best part was when the check arrived, cuz not only did it not cost a lot, my friend offered to pay! Who says there’s no free lunch? Go see for yourself!
