I’m very proud to be a part of the group. Both instructors have encourage me along the way. They even have gone out of their way to meet Up for extra practices to help clean up work. Coming here and being part of the group is like having an extended part of a family.

Herencia Mexicana de Cabeza de Vaca Cultura has been my family and home for almost 5 years now and I hope to be with this group for another 5 years because my experience has been that good. I used to dance foklorico elementary school and fell in love with folklorico dancing right away. I danced through fifth grade and never wanted it to end. After finishing elementary school, we could not find a decent local group so i stopped dancing folklorico. After graduating high school, I still felt that something was missing. That’s when I found out about Cabeza de Vaca Cultura’s Herencia Mexicana folklorico troupe and decided to give it a try. i felt so nervous to go back and dance after such a long time. But I knew that folklorico was something that was a part of me and missing from my life. Many mistakes, blisters, sore muscles, smiles, tears, buckets of sweat, and endless practices and performances later, 5 years have gone by since I joined this group along side my niece. Many friends have come and gone but folklorico has remained a constant for me through these past 5 years when I needed it the most and when I had gone through so much. Since joining this group, the members have become my family.

I look forward to going to Sunday practices because you can express your self in your dancing. They spend time making sure that you get it right and aren’t left confused. It’s a safe place where everyone can express them selves and you don’t have to be shy because no one will judge you. It’s so much fun and relaxing you would want to come again. It’s such a great experience that you’ll enjoy!!!

If you are looking for reliable truth to cultural dance then this is the place for sure… awesome atmosphere, great instructors. They really spend time to each individual child to make sure they can learn the cultural moves, and have fun most of all.

This is a great community grown dance school that has brought back the long lost art of Folklorico to our beautiful city of Santa Monica. As a long standing member i have seen it grow. I have seen all from the young to the old preform. Our group is and has always been welcoming from the moment you walk in the door. All are welcome who show the interest, discipline, and heart to learn, participate, practice and above all else shows interest in working as a TEAM!!! You can feel the energy and love from every faldeo, and heartbeat of every zapatiado in the room.
I have seen many groups who are all special in their own way. But we are not only a group, and special in our own way, but we have become a FAMILIA! We are a family who always welcomes in more to our family with open arms. We are a growing tree, with plenty of branches to support all of our dancers, we have and will always maintain strong Roots!!!
