The enchiladas are good. The fajitas were disappointing. After you get your food you are rushed to finish for the next guest. The bathrooms are dirty. Hope the kitchen is cleaner then the bathroom. Two stars because decent drinks and good enchiladas. Please don’t review this business if you received a freebie for writing this review, or if you’re connected in any way to the owner or employees. I’ve been to this restaurant before, and not once have I been disappointed in any way. The food is authentic, the atmosphere(although a little too loud for my taste) is always cheerful and centred around family. Today’s visit however was completely unlike my previous experiences. It started out as a standard visit until the end of the meal. I ordered an extra item a la carte and by the time I was ¾ finished with my entrée, I had yet to receive it. I at this point hadn’t seen my server in about 15 minutes, so I pulled someone else aside and explained that since it hadn’t been brought out to please inform my server, and cancel the item, along with a to-go box. Before I finished my statement, this guy just leaves the table, and less than a minute later, my server magically appears. I reiterated the same statement to my server, and he proceeded to cut me off mid-sentence and said he forgot the item. I said it was fine, to just bring the bill, box and I’d be on my way. Tell me why five minutes later, the item my server forgot to bring, and that I clearly stated to NOT bring to the table, showed up in front of me. Really? I just TOLD you to forget about it, and give me the bill. I corrected and repeated myself yet again, and then was brought the bill. After reviewing the tab, I was approached by another man close by asking if I needed assistance with settling the check. I said yes, and to please pay ONE(1) of the entrees with a $ 20 bill, and the REMAINDER of the balance on my bank card. Upon his return, I was expecting change in the amount of $ 9.60, since my cousin’s plate was $ 10.40, and my card to be signed for $ 35. However, that didn’t happen. I got a charge for $ 26 on my card, with no change. After I told the guy what I had stated, he said he understood me as if I said to put $ 20 in cash and the rest on my card. He then had to go back, void the balance, and RE-charge my card again. All of that time wasted because THREE people couldn’t STOP, LISTEN and COMPREHEND what was being processed. And if there was a problem understanding my request, why couldn’t someone COMMUNICATE the problem? It isn’t all that difficult. To add insult to injury, no one said thank you, goodbye or even apologized for the inconvenience when exiting. And my cousin just checked her change, she was shorted $ 2. How unfortunate for her especially for this to have occurred on her first visit. Needless to say, because of the problems and downright embarrassing mis-management of the staff, neither myself or family will be returning to this establishment.

We usually have lunch at this location. As busy as it gets here at lunch. We have never had a wait. Food is great, and there are quite a few fat friendly seats. Staff is very attentive and on top of refills and chips and salsa.

Went here for lunch on a Monday. The food was basic; not great, but not that good. The dishes came out promptly, but had lots of melted cheese over the top; possibly to hide the lack of flavor. I got the taco and tamale combo. Taco was In a fried shell with a ton of cheese. Beef tamale was ok. More concerning than the food was the apathetic service we received. I think that restaurants need to up their service game in order to stay competitive and get customers to return.

Wanted to give this place a try so I did and I wish I hadn’t. Food aside, this place is really loud and I almost felt like I was at a family party due to all the décor. It’s not necessarily a bad thing, but don’t expect to come here for a peaceful meal. Focusing on the food though, it was very disappointing. My chile relleno was nothing special, enchilada had no flavor whatsoever and the rice was just crunchy and bland. This is saying a lot coming from someone who is not picky when it comes to Mexican food. I won’t be coming back again, this place just wasn’t for me.

My family and I started coming here for dinner and the food is good. Prepare yourself to be rush out of there. We weren’t done having dinner and a older lady with glasses brought us the bill. My son needed a refill and my hubby wanted one more drink but she didn’t seem to care or ask if we needed anything else. In the past, I’ve notice how they want you to eat and get out because they have people waiting but today was the worst. The old lady who brought us the bill sat across from us with menus as she wanted to give our table to other patrons. Of course, we took our time. To top it off, they over charge us for an additional drink we never received and we disputed it. About 4 waiters had to discuss who brought what to us. This place was becoming our Friday family night for dinner but not anymore. Shame!

My partner and I LOVE this place! I see that there are some negative reviews, but I really believe that the service is fantastic and the food is delicious. The servers are kind and attentive, and the management is professional and handles the unfortunate circumstances well. We’ve always had a great time when we come here.(Micheladas are phenomenal. Just the perfect touch of tanginess.) It’s the«problem» guests themselves that make their own experience bad with their demeanor. We saw this happen. There was a group of drunk folks sitting behind us who decided to complain about not tasting the alcohol in their drinks. Mind you, this guest had already finished her drink and then complains that she didn’t taste the alcohol.(Well, you’ve already had a few and are too drunk to taste it. Common sense, right?) They had complained to a few servers about it, so then the manager came to address the situation. I didn’t catch her name, but she handled the situation very professionally. She listened to the issue, offered solutions, but there was an «entitled drunk male» in the group that went on to insult the poor woman. He was completely disrespectful and unreasonable. He was intoxicated and slurring his words, and he thought he was«right.» We were so annoyed. They had already paid their bill, finished eating and everything, but they decided to stick around and be obnoxious and give the servers and managers a hard time. And then people complain about being rushed out? Well, look at how they’re behaving! Ultimately, I would like to give this restaurant the credit it deserves. It really is a great place. The service is quick, they’re so kind, and the environment is lovely. Kudos to everyone. You handled this situation professionally. We love this place! :)

My family’s go to for any &ALL get-togethers for the past 30 years! EVERYTHING is good! You want a REAL margarita? This is the place, but watch that first sip lol Family owned & operated, reasonable prices, service can be slow at times but it’s because they’re always freakin’ busy and they let you enjoy your meal without being rushed. Needless to say we’ll be coming for many more years to come.

Mediocre place. Came on a Thursday during my lunch break. I was seated promptly, the décor is your usual Mexican restaurant with boring music. I ordered the taco dorado and cheese enchilada. To my surprise my order came within less than 10 minutes from when I ordered, not a good sign. The enchilada tortilla was very stiff, the taco was tortilla was very rubbery and the rice and beans not so good. The only good thing I received was the orange juice I ordered. I was not done with my meal when the server came and dropped off my bill. Overall the service not bad but the food is very poor. Not coming here again! I had been warned about this place, so I wasn’t surprised. I will probably have a stomach ache before my shift is over. agh

Cute Mexican restaurant, and the prices are good. Can’t say it’s the best food ever ever, but it’s a sure bet for lunch. The folks who work there are also super nice, so I’m giving one extra star. :)

I have been coming here for the past 6 years. I’m surprised I haven’t wrote a review ! This place is the place for great Mexican food ! I’m picky on my rice and beans. They make theirs as if my grandma made it! … And may I add, the margaritas are great!

Love this place! Their food is absolutely delicious. If you’re looking for an authentic Mexican restaurant, this is the place to visit. I have ordered various entrees and each one seems to be as good or better than the last entrée I tried. The house margarita is a must. My gf was very surprised with the portions of their wet burritos and she was impressed with their salsa and chips. The servers were on top of everything and friendly. Visit if you’re in town.

This has always been one of my families favorite restaurants for many years. Beside the fact that the food is great it’s a quaint little neighborhood spot where good chance you’ll see someone you know. The staff has always been friendly — I love it when they see you and say«hi Mija! Like you’re family. Friday nights(and I think maybe Saturday night too) they have live Mariachi’s. I will say that the last couple of times we have been there, it seems like the wait staff is put out by the patrons. They seem grouchy and in a hurry. Who knows… You never know what people are going through. It’s definitely worth trying and be prepared to wait a little especially on Friday night! The neighbors come from all around for a cool spot to unwind with great margaritas and yummy chips/salsa!

I’ve been coming to this restaurant forever. It’s kind of like my Cheers. There is nothing fancy about Veracruz. This is a very casual sit-down restaurant that is family-owned and run. I’ll never not come here, it’s just one of those places that always sounds good. Some notes: 1. The food is tasty. It’s very traditional Southwestern Mexican food. Lots of shredded beef, lots of cheese, and lots of red sauce. The beans and rice are to die for. I have never been a fan of Spanish rice that tastes too tomato-ey and this one doesn’t. I always get the combination plate with the cheese enchilada and the beef taco. Yum. 2. The margaritas are life. They are STRONG and sweet and perfect for happy hour. But call an Über — they are killer. 3. The food is cheap. There are drive-thru Mexican places that charge more. We’re talking $ 6-$ 7 for a big plate. 4. Everything comes out FAST. Sometimes before I’ve even gotten halfway through a diet coke. I’ve been in and out in less than 30 minutes. 5. They get BUSY on Friday evenings. Plan on waiting for a bit since after-work folks are having cocktails and chatting. 6. There are two large booths on either side of the front doors. These are reserved for big parties. So if you’ve been waiting awhile, and a large party waltzes in and gets sat before you that’s why.

Pleasantly surprised at this restaurant. I have been passing it nearly daily for a couple of years and have been meaning to try it and finally did today. Ended up having a chicken burrito with rice and beans. The chicken was flavorful and moist with a nice tortilla that was moist and chewy. Ended up putting some of the salsa from the tortilla chips on it and blam, an even better burrito! Rice and beans were both really great and not oily or dried out at all. Overall the lunch was about $ 7.50 and well worth it. Customer service was pretty good, a touch aggressive but overall decent. Will surely be back.

ZERO stars if possible. This place is a DISGRACE to Mexican food. No idea how some people give it more stars. We were never welcomed into the restaurant, the guy wasn’t friendly. He just had us follow him to our table. Then when another guy came over, he also wasn’t friendly. He was very cold, and just said, «Drinks?» We both asked for water. He gave off such a nasty aura and attitude. He was the big bald guy. Later somebody different came to take our order. He never said anything to us but was obvious he was going to take our order because of his paper and pen. So we ordered. The only decent person was the guy who delivered our food, which by the way was so terrible. My boyfriend ordered the Pollo a la Plancha. First the chicken smelled funky. Then i tasted it, and it tasted like teriyaki chicken from a Chinese restaurant so he left it there. I ordered the Enchiladas Verdes. They were bad… the green sauce was so watery with no flavor. The chicken looked nasty, but at least it tasted better than my boyfriend’s. OH and the table salsa was also watery. Nobody ever came to check up on us to see if everything was ok. ITWASNT. We never got offered more napkins which we needed cuz we had to spit out so much food. One of the tortillas also tasted weird. wtf is up with this place? How was it so busy?! NEVEREVEREVEREVEREVEREVERCOMINGBACKHEREAGAIN. If you can afford driving a few more miles, I’ve tried the Mazatlan restaurant on Carmenita and Telegraph and it blows this place out of the water. Everything was so bad. Please don’t go here!!!

I really love it here. Very homie and comforting. The menus are hand written, their margaritas are great and their food is delicious. Gets very crowded. A great experience. And they go crazy with their decorating, don’t look up if you get headaches easily lol. I personally love it

Veracruz is one of those local restaurants that my coworkers tell me is the place to be, especially for drinks. I’ve found that working in Santa Fe Springs has really expanded my Mexican food eating horizons. I loved Mexican food before, but I’ve been introduced to a whole new world here. My only gripe with Veracruz is that the staff seems a little less than friendly. There really isn’t a hostess, so when you walk in, you’re sort of just standing around awkwardly. When you are finally seat(full parties only, no partials fyi), the waiter doesn’t greet you with a smile. I felt like he just kind of threw our menus down and walked away. Also, when we were ordering, I wasn’t even sure if he was paying attention. Maybe he was just indifferent to the whole thing, maybe that’s just his personality, but for me… I like a good, engaged, attentive server. The décor is very festive inside Veracruz. I hear that they change their decorations regularly depending on the season and holiday, it was cute. It’s not a gigantic restaurant, but I think it could easily seat about 50 people. As for the food, I ordered the Carne Asada wet burrito. I’ll have to say that I really enjoyed the food, and I don’t really know how to say this without sounding inappropriate but, I really would have liked the burrito to be a little wetter. The sauce was really good. The burrito was a good size, not quite a newborn baby size, but bigger than most others. It was baked with cheese on top and doused with this delicious red sauce. There was something about the carne asada that stood out to me. The flavor was different from what I was used to from other Mexican restaurants, but it was a good type of different. I can’t really pinpoint what the difference was; I guess you’ll have to try it out for yourself. My dish also came with a side of rice, and the rice was very flavorful. It almost tasted buttery. I’ll definitely have to come back here for their drinks(since I went during work hours and drinking is frowned upon). They have gigantic margaritas that looked sooooooooo delicious. I’m a little on the fence about the service though, but I’ll give them another chance because the food was good. The food was a solid 4 stars, service was a 2 – 3 star experience. I’ll compromise and go with 3 stars, unless they can convince me otherwise next time.
