I am giving them 5 stars because I needed a same day delivery and I made the order at 4pm. Delivery person went home so the man I spoke with over the phone offered to drop off the orchid on his way home. I really needed this to my friend today because she had an awful day.
I thank them for going above and beyond!!!

after a super negative experience thanks to Ava’s Florist, I had the opposite experience with Shay’s Flowers and can’t say enough about their excellent customer service, compassionate designer and exceptional product! As a former floral designer, I couldn’t ask for more. Thank you!

I received a beautiful bouquet of flowers on Wednesday and by Friday many of them had died. I called the shop and they said they did not know why this would happen, and certainly neither did I.
I suggested that I could email before & after pics to show them the difference. Once they received the pics, the woman said she spoke with the owner and he didn’t want an unhappy customer so they would drop off another bouquet.
Flowers were delivered, the bouquet was nice not as nice as the original one however I appreciated their extension of the peace pipe.
Here’s the thing, I don’t get flowers very often, and when I know that someone paid big bucks on a gift for me, I want to enjoy it for more than 2 days. Shay’s heard me and did the right thing by replacing the flowers.

The Mother’s Day arrangement I received was not the best quality. On their website, they guaranteed 100% satisfaction, so I called to explain to them (Mike) and he just about told me it was my fault for not watering the arrangement. 1st day great, but by the 2nd & 3rd day the flowers were wilting/​dead, the green was now off dark green, etc. Before when this shop was still Cathcart’s and before it became Shay’s, it was a quality florist to order from, but the current owners do not honor their own guarantee. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND ORDERING ANYTHING FROM SHAY’S, period.

So I went in again, after getting the owner’s response (Which, by the way, I find in poor taste; I wrote exactly what my experiences had been and I appreciate it when other Unilocalers do the same, discouraging this practice seems dishonest.) to see what was what, maybe my last experience was an exception. However, the choice of flowers was still pretty mediocre and the man behind the counter was just as unfriendly as the last woman had been when I was there last, which is odd because every time I call a younger girl answers the phone and is incredibly cheerful and sweet and helpful. So, again, I feel there are better places to get your flowers. Still only three stars.

I was so beyond happy I chose Shay’s flowers. I don’t live in the area and my little sister was turning 18 and I wanted to have some nice flowers sent to her high school. I talked to 3 different people and they were all so incredibly friendly and wonderful. If I am ever ordering flowers in santa cruz again, I won’t go anywhere else!!!

This is the worst experience I have ever had with a flower shop. After placing my order online 2 days before, and paying $ 100 for an arrangement to be delivered on Valentine’s Day, the arrangement never showed up and the shop insists it was delivered on time. I do NOT recommend this shop or dealing with it’s rude employees.

Why do they just call this a flower shop?! Whenever I think of this place, I think of truffles. Little concentrated chocolate bits of heaven. Irish crème truffles, how I crave you so.
I have an epic sweet tooth, and this place satisfies it everytime. When the time comes for my wife and I to have kids, I will totally placate her chocolate cravings with a stop off here.
