sometimes when i see a 13 bus coming, i get an urge to get on even if i dont need to go anywhere. really, it makes me so happy. it has a perfectly convenient stop for my house, my work, and it’s most definitely the most scenic route towards downtown. Walnut has beautiful blooming spring trees and classic historic Victorian homes. plus, for some reason, most people think it takes longer to get downtown on the 13(i beg to differ), so they opt for the sure-shots 15/16s, leaving the 13 perfectly roomy for me!

Here is my theory on the 13. It’s one part mythical creature, 2 parts life saver bus when you really need to get someplace and nothing else is coming. My other theory is that the 15 should be put to rest, and the 13 to take up it’s routes. I mean, they are already similar, both enter UCSC through the west, only this way, we’d only have one laurel bus… But that is just my two cents. The 13 seems to always use the older, more traditional school bus style buses. I’m not sure if this is a coincidence or not.
