Press Juices & Sandwiches

My absolute FAVORITE sandwich in Santa Cruz. I’ve never been a chicken salad person, but their sandwich is totally to die for – creative, fresh, and out in a jif! The gentleman who works there is super nice, and the food comes out quickly. I love to treat myself here :) Deeeee-​licious!

Simplicity gets taken for granted sometimes and I am guilty of that, too. I was wandering around Santa Cruz w/​my kids and noticed I could not hold my hunger any longer. Being on the lean gains IF schedule isn’t all that difficult but it certainly isn’t cake either.
My tummy was rumbling.
I didn’t want Mexican, I didn’t want Italian, and I didn’t want a burger w/​the temptation of fries so I stumbled upon this place because it is located a few feet away from the bookstore. It was serendipity from the get go; my eyes was fixated on the pastrami sandwich and the customer service from the one gentleman working it all made the experience uplifting. My order did not take long nor did the other orders before me but he did everything in order and even went out of the booth to hand people’s order out. He could have easily called it out from the window but he didn’t.
To my delight. pastrami chucks. It reminded me of The Refuge (in San Carlos). The sauerkraut was delicious, the pastrami was juicy, and the whole grain brown mustard turned what appears to be a simple sandwich that anyone can do to something incredibly delicious, comforting, and satisfying. I had half and it took me less than 2 minutes to inhale it.
I’m definitely a fan!

I had the vegetarian special sandwich, it was so good that I went back the next day .

Fresh ingredients and great tasting juice and sandwiches! Been there a couple times now. Got the ‘red’ juice with this new crazy thing called Acerola that I had never heard of and an absolutely delicious chicken salad sandwich.
Spoke to the owner, Jonathan, great guy overall and made the experience of walking down town in Santa Cruz so much more authentic!

I was craving for some freshly squeezed juice and Unilocal brought me to this place. I wanted to try something different and tried the graviola brazilian drink. It was DELICIOUS (though it wasn’t as sweet as I would have liked). Service was quick and pleasant. I enjoyed my fresh drink while walking through the streets of downtown.

so yummy! my new downtown quick lunch staple. the chicken salad sandwich is delish, and apple cucumber parsley juice mild and refreshing. very clean and light, my body always feel happy after eating here.

Love this new addition to downtown. Its a great place to get a quick, healthy and affordable lunch. Refreshing and delicious. The owner and staff have always been friendly and helpful! My favorites are the green juices and veggies sandwiches.

Finished a 5 mile hike in Henry Cowell State Park and needed a bite to eat. Decided to go with the 5 star sandwich kiosk downtown and have to say IT WAS WELL WORTH IT. We could not decide what to get so the 3 of us each ordered a different sandwich and they cut it in thirds for us. They were all exceptional. The only bummer was the parking ticket. Make sure to feed the meter enough money to last through the sandwich experience.

I was trying to find a vegan friendly place to eat and I had 3 dogs with me in my car. I had actually stopped at two other places first but one I couldn’t park nearby and the other had no parking at all. This place was much quicker at getting my food to me than an all natural juice place would usually be. I only had to wait about 5 minutes and the sandwich was excellent. I’m only giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because the juices were pre-​made and were poured out of a pitcher instead of being fresh made but that was good for me because there was no waiting. I had a sandwich with avocado, roasted sweet potato, walnuts, and red onion on whole wheat.

Delicious sandwiches: I had the smoked cheddar, caramelized onions, and roasted jalapeños. Yum! Loved sitting outside in the sun on Pacific Avenue.

Stopped in at this adorable kiosk on a rainy day and shared the grill cheese and roast pork sandwiches with a friend. One of the best sandwiches I’ve had in a while. When given the choice between Press or the Noah’s Bagel across the street, I say Press all the way! AMAZING! Going to have to come back on a warmer day for for an acai bowl. Yum!

Today’s sandwich reminded me of a sandwich I had Unilocaled as «One of my Top 5 sandwiches ever» (
). So, I thought it was only fair…
I’ve been to Press 4 times now and have tried 3 sandwiches and all of them were definitely fresh, delicious, and dare I say.gourmet. I like the menu, each of the sandwiches has a fresh ingredient that is delicious but takes some time to prepare in advance so you probably don’t see these items in your self-​packed brown bag. I also appreciate that they have gluten free bread available and the sandwich prices are very reasonable.
Chicken salad sandwich: has grated fresh beets and maybe raisins. I’ve had this one twice. I think it is one of their only cold sandwiches so I asked them to toast the bread.
Leek and Havarti: Blows away any grilled cheese I would make at home.
Today’s special (11÷10÷14): smoked cheddar, caramelized onions, and roasted jalapeños. Today was totally overcast and a little cooler and this perfectly grilled sandwich with a hint of spice hit the spot. This is the sandwich that prompted the review because it reminded me of my previous «Top 5 sandwich» review.

Nice juice offerings and a place to linger over outside chairs. This kiosk has had many a fast food play, finally one worthy of repeat business. Good luck to you Press. Thank you for a great experience.

I came across the Press kiosk yesterday, ordered a sandwich (spinach, leek, and Havarti cheese) and listened to another client rave about their own lunch. The sandwich was pressed, so it was flat and warm and… just amazing. The most delicious thing I’ve eaten in a long time. Excellent value, excellent fresh ingredients, extremely conscientious preparation — Press is a fantastic addition to downtown Santa Cruz.

Excellent food, drinks/​juices and service. Fair prices. Great value. Organic. Love this spot for a freshly made drink or lunch. They even have some nice seating on the sidewalk. Highly recommend it!

Press is a downtown Pacific St kiosk, new to Santa Cruz as of the last 2 weeks. They specialize in Brazilian cold-​pressed juice. I just tried Caju juice, which is the apple type fruit that grows with cashews. It is the most delicious juice I’ve ever tasted. Blended with shaved ice, the juice is mild and refreasing. There is a slight tart and sweet tone, along with a subtle nutty flavor, and the same ivory color of a cashew. Incredible.
I didn’t get a chance to try the sandwiches, but they looked amazing. Peeking inside the kiosk, I could see extremely fresh fruits and veggies, very clean and organized, with attentive, quick, mindful, and polite & friendly service.
