Lunchbox @ the Santa Clara Marriott

I personally hate this place. I am a very pickey eater and about 85% of the time they have something in there that I will not eat. Most of the time I eat a salad, which is not always the best option. I am glad that they added the sandwhich bar b/​c you can never go wrong w/​a turkey sandwhich. But, it is free so I guess that validates the quality.

This place is similar to a roller coaster… ups and downs, and sometimes makes you want to throw up. The best thing about this place is the constant supply of juicy hot dogs. Those can get old though if you work there 5 days a week. You get a serious treat when the seafood chowder is available for the soup of the day. There is also a great sandwich bar if you want to make your own dish, and depending on what banquets happen the day before you can get some excellent desserts.

The food here is questionable at times. There is just too much inconsistency with the flavors of the food. Since it is free, I can’t really complain that much. They offer 2 types of entrees, vegetables, rice, and soup. There is a also a sandwich and salad bar if the entrees don’t suit your taste. They also added a hot dog machine for those who want a quick bite. After lunch, you can help yourself to some fruit and an array of desserts and jello. There is a beverage machine that serves Pepsi products. There are sufficient amount of seats and tables to serve about 50 associates, but I suggest that you avoid eating between noon and 1 pm.
Overall, this is one of the better employee cafeterias. The best part is that it’s free but that could explain why the quality is low. Nonetheless, save your money and help yourself to some good old Marriott cooking.
Overall, this place isn’t that bad.
