So pleasantly surprised by the quality of the fish here! I had the hamachi lover’s roll and it was DELICIOUS. I wish I had a reason to return to this area so I can eat more of their yummy fish! Service was also very good. I’m a sushi snob and was asking them point blank about whether I would be better off ordering something to disguise the lack of freshness or if it was good enough to get sashimi. They were patient and indulgent and told me they get their fish every morning. Anyway, I was very satisfied– I highly recommend this place.

Got a red dragon roll and a salad for $ 11.50. Not cheap, but not that expensive for a food truck either. Both were excellent. Portions were about right — which is to say that when it comes to sushi, I always wish the portions were bigger. But no real complaints, except that selection seems a bit modest. For example, not sure if you can customize a bento(pay more if necessary), and not exactly a ton of rolls to choose from. But, it’s a convenient food truck. I’d definitely go back if I didn’t have time to go to a proper sushi restaurant.

Sushi from a food truck? I was skeptical but decided to try it out. Prices were surprisingly good, and the fish was fresh. I got the Hamachi Lovers roll, Salmon Nigiri, and Unagi Nigiri. 9 bucks for a roll AND no tax is great! Food trucks can get pretty pricey, even more expensive than sitdown restaurants at times but no complaints at this one. Minus 1 star only because the fish selection is limited to the basics(though it’s tough to keep a wide selection of fresh fish), and it wasn’t mind-blowing. This is still a pretty solid place, and I would definitely come back.

Finally got the chance to try this truck out. Got two orders of nigiri; hamachi and salmon. The salmon texture was nice and buttery, but the flavor was almost nonexistent. The hamachi was mushy and stringy. The flavor was also poor. It did not seem fresh, and had a soapy taste. My friend got an order of tuna and I tried a piece of that as well. The tuna was incredibly disappointing. Flavor was just awful, almost chemical tasting. The tuna fell apart when picked up, and did not have the mouth feel of typical Tuna sashimi. My friend said the chicken teriyaki tasted like reheated frozen chicken that was grilled and then mixed with sauce. He said the sauce was good though. We didn’t try any rolls, so I can’t comment to their quality. It seems like that’s probably the thing to get here. It’s possible I visited on an off day, but given the amount of good options available, especially for trucks, I’ll be skipping this one from now on.

12÷1÷15(update): I’ve had this truck a couple times since the last review and I have since decided that the original 5 stars was too generous. During my last meal they served some uncooked rice with my teriyaki bowl. That was unacceptable, but I let it slide thinking it was just a fluke. Today, the rice was okay, but the fish just kinda sucked – not nearly as fresh as the first time I’ve had this truck… 1. Salmon Hand Roll $ 3.75(no tax): Just like the first time: a pretty standard hand roll, stuffed with fish, avocado, cucumber. But unlike the first time, the rice was a bit hard, though I didn’t find any uncooked like my previous meal. But clearly the texture is no longer perfect. And the main difference was that the salmon didn’t have the firm texture of good fish. Kinda mushy and slimy. No longer good. 4⁄10. 2. Chirashi Don $ 10.50(no tax): And just like the first time: this is as basic of a chirashi as you can get. 3 fishes – salmon, tuna, and a third. And one piece of cooked shrimp. There’s some lettuce salad on the side along with some seaweed salad. Overall, I have never actually had a chirashi this plain before to be honest. But that would have been fine if the fish were as fresh as before, and the rice so perfect. Not so now. As mentioned above, rice is poor and the fish fishier. 4⁄10. I am no longer impressed. Most average restaurants would be better. Now removing this truck from my list«Best Sunnyvale Food Trucks.» 3⁄5 #truck #sushi #japanese #chirashi

Akita Roll($ 9) I normally stay far, far away from cream cheese in sushi, but I had to give this roll a chance. Maybe I was feeling nice today, but the move paid off. It was delicious! I love the crunch and the flavors in the creamy sauce, and the cream cheese went nicely with the rest of the flavors. Best part was that the price is the same, if not less, as you would expect from a sit-down restaurant, and the portion size is the same too. Sushi as good as a restaurant without having to wait in a long line for a table and for a server, and tax is included in the price — those are some big wins there! I’m definitely eating at this truck again!

Akita sushi food truck was here at Alcatel in mountain view(25 August 2015) and they had nice selection of sushi for lunch The prices were very reasonable. They have a wide variety of selection ranging from rolls to bento box. Sashimi were fresh and delicious. Portion sizes were excellent.

Was driving by the area and spotted the rather intriguing combination of a food truck and sushi. While food trucks have long proven themselves to offer creative, innovative and delicious cuisine, traditional sushi isn’t exactly the cuisine that comes to mind. Yet with modern refrigeration, fresh sourced fish, and a focus on sushi rolls and more creative fare, Akita Sushi has taken the concept and run with it. The menu is strong on rolls but does have a few surprising options like nigiri and a chirashi don($ 10.50) as well as value priced bento box. I decided to try one of their more popular rolls and went with the hamachi lover’s roll. The roll was ready in a few minutes and featured a nicely presented roll that would fit into any sushi restaurant. The seared hamachi was covered with generous Tobiko and the roll tasted both fresh and delicious. At $ 9, it’s not much differently priced than many restaurants but coming from a food truck, there is some novelty factor. I think I’d need to eat a roll or two to be full or perhaps try some of their other items like empanadas, tacos, or bento. Overall though, I was impressed at getting delicious sushi in the middle of nowhere and gave a thumbs up for execution. It was much faster than a restaurant and perhaps they need to do a Sushiritto concept to be even more popular. Akita Sushi accepts cash but also credit card.

We love having Sushi from this place coz it’s really good, but we were really disappointed today. They had a food truck outside 550 Moreland and they were supposed to be there from 5 – 8 pm. We we got few rolls ordered; I asked them until what time would they be there as I thought that we might order some more. They told us that they would be there until 7.30 pm. We went there around 7.25 pm and they were gone. Leaving behind a customer disappointed !

This truck pulled up to my office today. They have been here before but I was leery. However, today I saw a co-worker walk by with a roll that looked good so I ventured out and picked up a Shrimp Lovers roll. OMG. Soooooooooo flipping good! I should have taken a pictures, but I gobbled it down too fast. Next time they pull up, I won’t hesitate, and neither should you!

Congratulation! Your empanadas are so good, specially the cheese one. Very fresh fish. Also your rolls are very yummy. I think everybody has to go to give them a try and review this little business. I will go back to try different rolls and for more cheese empanadas :) I have only one suggestion. Your sushi rice need more good vinegar. When the rice is good, make a big different in the rolls even in the white rice only. Keep going!

Like the previous post said… i was pretty sketched on buying sushi from a taco truck but I’m definitely glad I tried it out. & in case you guys can’t find it, it’s located in the Ken’s glass center. Anyways… I tried it out when they first opened and I was really surprised with the quality of the fish and the rolls. I’ve tried their spicy mango, the dragon, and green roll. and I’m definitely impressed with how good it was! I like how it’s not stuffed with too much rice or too much sauce. Also, the owner is really friendly. Definitely will come back again to crave my sushi fix.

Let me be the first to review this food truck. Omg it’s bomb!!! I tried their Akita roll and was in love! Their roll tasted better than most Japanese places and I would definitely come back plus price is really reasonable. Cashier was super friendly, it was my first time so he offered to give us a sample of the California roll. I also came at 945, 15 minutes before they were closing and they were really nice about serving me.
