One star here is one star too many. Should be minus one star. I chose this place based on a recommendation from my designer. BAD DECISION because it was a terrible experience from start to finish. Salesman was slick and unresponsive, refusing to break out the labor versus the material in the bid, so I could compare bids. The installer claimed the carpet was crooked (it was one stair) and I then ordered more expensive carpet (guess what, the stair and the pattern on it was still crooked), so there was a one-​month delay and more expense (although the owner claimed he would work with me on the price). Installers returned and scratched up the paint and stain on my stairs during installation and seemed baffled about how to wrap the carpet around floating stairs without causing sagging in the middle. Once installation was complete, three weeks later I got a ridiculous email bill with an incorrect (higher) amount, claiming I was more than 30 days overdue. A correct email bill did follow shortly after, but the damage to my blood pressure was already done. My advice to anyone reading this: avoid this place like the plague… AC Ramirez is small time and knows nothing about customer service.

These guys come off as a good knowledgable shop, but, the can not follow spec’s, do not understand instructions and will cheat on installation materials and industry procedures
They talk a good sales pitch and then cut corners where ever they can.
They want to get paid up in full before a person has a chance to thoroughly check out their installation. Then they start the Bullying and Demanding.
I would not recommend them to anyone. Shop around and get references if you dare.

These guys do a good enough job, but be forewarned, the boss, like many bullies, comes across at first as a nice guy, but anything seems to wrong with the deal, he goes ballistic and cannot deal with you like a human being. Better to avoid this and take your business elsewhere.

We were referred to AC Ramirez from a friend (who has made wonderful other recommendations) and I have to say I would not recommend them to anyone I know after our experience with them. Though very helpful and easy to work with during the planning stage, the actual installation of carpet was completely shoddy (they rolled carpet over a live electrical outlet, used horrible padding after we specifically requested a thicker pad, and the carpet is bunching in the middle of a room after a year of low use). What is worse, is the company has not been particularly responsive to fixing these problems (missing appointments, overbilling, etc.).
The only reason I am not giving them one star is because they were helpful in the beginning and I do want to believe that this has been an isolated bad experience (since they were recommended to us). But, if you are like us and prefer to use local businesses in SB for remodeling and such, seriously consider some of the other flooring shops in town.
