I heard of this place, but I got the name mixed up with café de leche. but this place popped up while searching. My first time here and always up for trying unique coffee places! I got the coconut dulce de leche yesterday and it was everything I expected to taste! Loved it so much I came back again today! This time I’m trying the horchata frappé and I’m sure it will taste as good as it sounds! Unique flavors in their drinks, which why I’m here 2nd day in a row! You even get a 10% disc on your check in and the staff are very friendly!

Yay! I love seeing cool places come to Santa Ana. I’ve lived in Orange County my entire life and for the majority of it I had this oddly weird impression of Santa Ana but lately, especially in DTSA, I’ve been loving the new fun and hip neighborhoods that have been popping up. Adding to the hype is MAZ. They’re a fun coffee shop and café and still pays homage to their Latin roots. I had the empanada pastry which was a traditional Latin caramel empanada. Very good! I also had the iced horchata latte. OMG. I’ve had iced horchata lattes in LA but oooooo honey did this one trump the best. They played some super cool music and even had comfy couch booths! My barista was super nice and although she seemed a little preoccupied and forgot about the empanada I had a great experience and would definitely go back to support another cool Santa Ana business!

Cheesecake is really good(different from the New York cheesecake I think? It was a different shape and looked a bit different)! Maz con leche drink was also delicious-it has a slight peanutty flavor. Carrot cake was meh but my husband liked it. It’s pretty dense and soaked in sugary delights. 2 – 5 pm get 20% off on pastries for afternoon delights! Four spots parking behind the café. Not exactly an obvious find so we parked on the street which can be a bit tough at times. Cute little spot. Staff was super nice. Free wifi and spots to sit down and work esp since it’s pretty quiet. Good number of outlets methinks.

This little spot is very cool, quiet and chill. Good spot to hangout with friends or a date. You can play board games while having coffee or do some coloring while you enjoy your coffee. Good place for studying as well. The coffee selection is great! They have Mexican inspired coffees and fraps, like iced horchata latte, iced chocolate abuelita, which are both really good. Pretty good selection of pastries to have with your coffee. Didn’t try any, but will next time. Parking was a little tuff just because the coffee shop is located in the middle of a neighborhood and an elementary school. They have 2 spots that are 2 hour parking behind the shop, but looks like it would be parking for the apartments right next to it. Other than that, I would definitely recommend it to everyone.

Bad location. No parking at all. I used the Unilocal offer for 50% off ice horchata latte. Super small portion, like a mini Frappuccino from starbuck. Not worth it if pay full price. The pizza bagel was good. Still expensive.

Super chill spot to study with a lot of space! We came on a random Thursday and we were the only customers there. There were some elementary school kids chilling but they were pretty well behaved. Limited 4 parking spots(2 hr limit in the back) Food wise:. The cajeta empanadas were a bit too hard and tsstes a little bland. Coffee was a little too sweet. But they were both cheap so I am not gonna complain too much. The Batista was really nice. She was the ok only one working and seems to handle the shop pretty well.

Event though I was not a fan of the specialty«Maz coffee» which I found way to sweet. I quite enjoyed a regular cappuccino and I loved the place. It’s quiet, the inside is nice and peaceful — perfect to work — and the outside terrace is pretty enjoyable.

Just moved to the area and excited to try MAZ this morning as they’re part of the Unilocal coffee club event going on until May 31st. MAZ is located in downtown, but hidden away from 4th Street Market and Main street and across from an elementary school. It’s a great place to be at and relax, read or chill without being distracted by all the hustle and bustle outside. This is the second time I’ve checked-in at a participating coffee shop and show them the deal and they give me the deer in headlights look, but I liked the barista’s response this morning(it contained an expletive) cause she kept it real one-hundred! I asked her if she recommended the MAZ cold brew or the horchata latte and she said horchata latte always! I upgraded the size and with the discount it came out to $ 2.57! What a steal! Upon first sip my brain smiled and it felt like I drank a churro over ice. SO smooth, no bitterness, a little sweet, but horchata and churros are supposed to be that way. The barista offered me a rewards card so I can come back and try the MAZ cold brew later. I definitely will be back as this is in my hood and I like the chill vibe of the place.

This is such a cute & pleasant study spot to get work done! DRINKS: — my friend & I both ordered the iced Horchata latte(50% from May 16-May 31, 2016) and it was really yummy! It is a tad bit sweet tho so I had to add some water to it PASTRIES: — although I didn’t get any, a lot of other customers bought the empanadas/cookies/cheesecake/etc. They have a wide selection so be sure to check those out too! PARKING: — the café offers free parking behind the store. It’s right next to a parking building. If not, there’s street parking but that can be difficult to get. ETC: — free wifi! — outlets — play area for kids — friendly barista Overall, a gem in the OC and I can’t wait to come back!

It was my first time today. I tried the horchata iced latte and the horchata frap. The latte was good not too sweet like the frap. I think the latte needed 2 extra shots. If you’re more of a coffee lover stick with latte. I also tried their NY style cheese cake, it was so fluffy and good. Not even overwhelming, because I normally can’t eat more than 3 bites of a cheese cake. This one was just perfect. Customer service was good as well.

This place is a great hidden gem! Located on the corner in a residential area, they have four parking spaces in the back and street parking. It’s a great place to hang out with friends or study. Plenty of light, and there’s chairs and booth seating. Baristas are very friendly and will happily make suggestions.

If you haven’t been to the monthly Open Mic Nights at MAZ, you’re missing out on one of the best free things to do in OC. Lineups consist of everything from special DJ sets, acoustic performances, improv comedians that’ll have you in stitches — and I mean that. The packed house is proof enough that MAZ doesn’t mess around when it comes to talent acquisition. In fact, do yourself a favor and ask for the lovely owner herself to belt a tune — her sultry voice will melt your Mazapan Frappè into a sweet puddle of nothing. Eat. Drink. Listen. Art. Repeat.

Cute café located in a random neighborhood! If I lived nearby you bet i’d be a frequent visitor for reading sessions Mexican inspired caffeine drinks! —iced soy mazapan latte: it’s a peanut candy flavored latte, yum! —iced horchata latte: wish this was actually made of horchata since I’m lactose intolerant but ta just horchata flavored They have soy or almond milk for the lactose intolerant! NOTE: the only problem here is parking since it’s a neighborhood and there are tons of cars already

MAZ is such a cute wonderful HIDDEN little place. They have very hipster décor, sofas, and in the corner there is a rug where you can just sit as if you were at home. The chai latte with hazelnut is super good! Their bagels are a little small, but still good. Prices here are pretty cheap. Lovely place with lovely service. Parking around here sucks though so good luck! There are outlets all around the café so you can charge your laptop. Overall great place to relax and drink some coffee while reading, or just on your laptop working.

I never usually bother to review on Unilocal, but I stumbled on to this place looking for a power outlet and wifi, and ended up enjoying a really good bacon and cheese croissant with tomato and some green tea. Friendly staff, good food, and a great ambiance. Next time I’m in the area, I’ll definitely stop by again. They DO have wifi, and I several power outlets, for those looking for a place to study/whatever with their devices.

I really want to love this place because it’s less than a minute away from me, but so far, it hasn’t happened. I was interested by the drinks people posted, so I tried the mocha, the circus cookie one, the crème brûlée, and I just can’t seem to like any! The mocha had too much ice to the point where I had to wait for it to melt a bit. The circus cookie was okay, but I would’ve liked it sweeter. Lastly, the crème brûlée was dry. I’m still giving it 3 starts because like I said its so close to me, and I would like to find something I do like, so I can make it my go to place. On a side note, they renovated this place, and it looks great! The seats with the pillows are comfortable, and I like that they have outside seating. The only bad part is that the outside area draws attention at night. When they’re closed, I can hear and see fights happening and whatnot. Overall, I’m going to give this place a try again soon. I believe an Asian lady is the owner of this place because I was greeted by her around the first month they opened. Unless it was just a very friendly lady! See you guys soon!

Came here yesterday with the family and bought a small Horchata Frappé and a Large Strawberry Cupcake. Before I tasted the Strawberry Cupcake I was thinking that it was going to taste super sweet. Nope. I was wrong. The Frappes are nicely balanced not to sweet or overpowering. Well come back again to try more. They didn’t have the caramel frappé. So I hope they have it next visit. Great customer service, and nice, comfortable atmosphere.

Good place, but this review is more for the owner. Why would she only have ONE person taking orders and MAKING the orders all on her own especially during lunch break when many of us know how busy it can get during that time of day. It was very frustrating for the cashier having 4 people in line and telling every single one they were going to have to wait about 10 minutes before she got to their order. Don’t get me wrong, I will definitely be back but maybe not during lunchtime

This place is pretty amazing. They have a solid amount of caffeinated beverages as well as sweet decaf options. Being the black coffee drinker that I am I opted for the vienna(espresso with whip) and wow, talk about an explosion of flavor. The whip is a must as it adds just a touch of sweetness to the bold flavor. Also, the horchata latte that everyone raves about is not undeserved. I don’t even like horchata that much and this drink is heaven. An added bonus is all of the art that is splayed throughout the café as well as the games they provide. Personally I could stare at the Jim Morrison ink blot they have on the wall for some time but that’s just me. Come in they have hula hoops!

If you have not been here you are missing out! I was brought here by a friend who always talked about it, so I decided to try it. Best decision I ever made! My favorite drink here is the Mazapan latte! My goodness, I wish I would have thought of that years ago. The staff are always so friendly and engage with you as much as possible! Like old friends. The set up is also super cute and comfy! They offer pastries as well(By the way their cheesecake is AMAZING)! I can’t say enough of this place, you will just have to go yourself. I’ve had other drinks, Abuelita latte, and horchata latte, but I am not a fan of horchata to begin with, so it wasn’t for me, but my friend loves this one! They also offer a 10% discount with a student ID, and if you are using card, there is a charge of $.50 if your total does not exceed $ 5. The drinks are around $ 3 – 5 depending on size and the variety of(latte, expresso, frappé). You can also ask for a card that they stamp every time you order a drink, once you get 10 you get a free drink! OH and they have board games that you can play while you’re there! As if it could get any better!

Horchata latte is my favorite! Café Maz is my favorite place to hangout at Santa Ana. The next time you visit Santa Ana, this place is a MUSTGO! Starting late last year, this place started having a monthly open mic, where everyone is welcome to perform arts, poetry, songs, standups, even sharing your music by means like dj-ing. I find it very amusing as well as a great place for meeting new people. Atmosphere is great with plenty of comfortable couches around, making this place a perfect place for those digital people to work or to study. Last but not least, this place has a new owner. I could tell that she’s passionate for what she’s doing. She has done a good job in turning the place around, so next time you see her don’t forget to drop a few words or two.

Came here for a coffee date with a gf and was pleasantly surprised. It’s located on a corner of a neighborhood in Santa Ana, really close to scoops ice cream. I was surprised to see how big the café was. The vibe is very artsy and chill, with plenty of tables and seats. We grabbed a booth seat in the corner filled with lots of pillows. It seems to be a great spot to study because it was nice and quiet. I had the horchata latte and my gf had the maz latte. The horchata latte was cinnamony without being too sweet. I really liked the maz latte, which was nutty. They serve their drinks in cute mason jars if you drink it there. The salad looked really good, so I think I’ll try that next time!

Thinking of coming here? SAYYES. My first time here and I love everything about this café. Tucked away in a neighborhood, lies this wonderful gem. The place is very open with tons of space and seating. I love that the tables are a good space apart from each other to give you more privacy which is a definite plus for studying! The look and feel is very hipster which is the big trend right now. I bought a certificate on for $ 10 off $ 20 worth of food and drinks to use here and I am so glad I did! I was able to get 2 drinks and 2 food items for only $ 12 where as one drink alone is almost $ 5. –Horchata Frappé: 3⁄5 this drink was sweet and very creamy but we could not tell if there was coffee in it at all. My boyfriend said it tasted more like a Horchata milkshake. The presentation however was overall perfect. –Horchata Latte: 5⁄5 absolutely fell in love with this drink. Very good balance of coffee and cinnamon put together to create such a unique coffee drink. I had mine iced and I loved every bit of it. *Highly recommended* –Chicken Turkey Salad: 2.5÷5 a very decent sized bowl of salad. They use their homemade dressing which is creamy and spicy with a hint of sweetness to it. I would suggest you ask for the dressing on the side as my salad was overly drenched. –Turkey Sandwich: 3⁄5 homemade turkey sandwich with tomatoes, lettuce, cheese, and once again their homemade special sauce. I really liked the sandwich and the presentation was very cute and unique. They brought it out to us on a wooden board. My only complaint was that the bread was toasted but it wasn’t as fresh as it was a bit soft than crunchy. Overall, I can definitely see myself coming back again to try their other drinks and sweet treats such as the tiramisu bar or the dulce con leche bar. The atmosphere and ambiance is very relaxed and pleasant and the service is very friendly. Parking is all street parking so I can see a bit of a struggle during the weekend but we were lucky enough to find one right in the front.

Mazapan coffee is interesting, in a positive kind of way. I’m not a fan of any fancy(read: done up) coffee drinks because they’re usually too sweet for my taste. But their mazapan coffee wasn’t too sweet and instead, was enjoyable. We showed up on a Friday evening when it was open mic night. Parking situation may make you want to pull your hair out. The coffee shop is located in a residential area(overcrowded apartments) and street parking is hard to come by.

Been here twice for their open mic nights. The owner and cashier are extremely friendly and so welcoming. I loved the environment and all the beautiful artwork they had displayed all around the shop. I’ve only had their mocha frappé and am pretty much addicted already to the point that that’s all I order there and I get at least 2 large cups every time I’ve been there! My hubby is the same way except he’s in love with their horchata frappé! He was extremely happy at the fact that they had soy milk alternative since he can’t have regular milk. We even brought our newborn there and the owner made sure we were as comfortable as possible! That made it possible for us to stay for the whole open mic event because our baby wasn’t fussy at all! A lot of people had their lap tops out and were studying. I love coffee/tea places that are accommodating to students! I would definitely suggest this place to anyone that is looking for a relaxing place to study with delicious drinks! Already looking forward to going back for their next open mic night!

I went to Maz tonight for a coffeehouse event and this café is soo warm and welcoming! The aesthetics are beautiful at night with the walls adorned with lights and whimsical photos. I got the abuelito which I absolutely loved! I personally don’t like drinks that are too sweet – this drink had the perfect amount of sweetness. My husband had the horchata frappé which he absolutely loved. He’s a big fan of horchata and again – it was not TOO sweet but had the perfect amount of sweetness. Service was excellent! As soon as we stepped in the door, we were greeted with a very warm welcome and smile. The owner of this café is also super sweet and welcoming. 5⁄5 stars! Will definitely be coming to this café again when I’m in Santa Ana— you gotta try the abuelito!

Decided to give this place a try! I’ve passed by it several times after going to Scoops OC and have never tried it until today! I decided to go with the Horchata Iced Latte! Yummy! It’s a perfect combo of sweet and expresso mixed for nice warm afternoon. The shop has a nice cozy artsy laid back atmosphere and super nice baristas! They have plenty of seating and with a small stage for nice lil art or live show! They have plenty of tables inside n’ out perfect for any hang out! Overall, I will definitely be coming back! P.S*. Starting November 15th till December 15th they will be having a neighborhood sale… Buy one drink get second one 50% off!

Café con Leche is in an unexpected hidden area away from anything commercial. It’s nestled in among what looks like apartments & condominiums since we got there when it was already dark. The scene seems very laid back here and may be ideal for working on a lap top or tablet and maybe even a book or spread out the newspaper for some leisurely reading. There is a outside space with tables & chairs right in front or indoor lounging. There is something to nosh on like sandwiches, pastries but nothing too complicated. Teas & coffees as well as waters & soft drinks. The standard coffee café w/a Mexican twist. Our barista was kind, considerate, mellow, laid back. There are hula hoops to play with while waiting for your order or whenever. Nice little spot if you live in the neighborhood. I can just see Mr. Rogers wearing a cardigan sweeter sitting around having a cup of coffee. Maybe pouring some Irish Whiskey or Bailey’s into his coffee from a hidden hip flask. 3+ Unilocal stars.

Unilocal Challenge 2015. 242⁄365 Do you believe in a little thing called magic? This is magic in a cup. Mexican inspired coffee drinks at resonable prices. Creamy goodness, mixed with expresso, sprinkled with cinnamon and stirred with love. One sip, and you will be happy. 2 sips and you will fall in love. A few more dates with this magic in a cup, and you will cut most ties to the coffee world. Located at Lacy and 6th in DSA. Plenty of parking on the street and in the little lot behind the shop. Unless of course you have not mastered your parallel parking skills. If you don’t know how to drive, then Im sorry and have someone drop you off. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating to enjoy your magic potions. The Horchatta y expresso is by far my favorite drink in the world now. HUGESHOUTOUT to Nick H for leading me here, teasing everyone with all those check in’s and pictures of this amazing drink. I sware, he is a Unilocal God, when it comes to coffee and sweets!!! If I lived closer I would be here a few days a week. My only complaint about the drink is, it was not strong enough for me. Next time, I will order it Nick’s way… a quad expresso Horchatta. 4 shots of expresso! just didn’t want to be up all night, with my coffee fix, so I had it the house way. Service is amazing. The Barista was welcoming and treated me like a old friend. She customized one of my drinks to be super sweet, for the hubsters with a extra pump of Horchatta. He likes his coffee concoctions with a lot of sugar. I like mine with a lot of expresso. She had me taste it, to make sure it was perfect. The owner Sena introduced herself to me and was also super cool. I am a huge fan. Hubsters said his was really good. Which means he is a fan too. A-Plus drinks, service and amphtosphere!!! Can’t wait to return! #725
