Alright, before I get into my review and explain the 5 star rating let me tell you that I love Chinese food. I’ve eaten at many different Chinese fast food joints, mom n pop shops, chains like Panda/PickUps/etc. I have gone to eat at many REAL Chinese restaurants in the San Gabriel Valley which should technically be designated as the REAL Chinatown/area of LA. I’ve been to dim sum, dumpling houses, the works!!! To the people who give this place a bad review: Let’s not forget that this is a Chinese food to go style shop. This is NOT Wolfgang Puck’s ‘Cut’ restaurant in Beverly Hills. Big Difference!!! Reasons to go to Chinese places of this style: large portions of food drenched in flavorful sauces, quick lunches without having to wait for service, decent price for the product. China King ticks all of these boxes. I have been going to this place for the last 15+ years and moved away three years ago. However, I stopped by last weekend to get my fix. The recipes have most definitely survived any ownership changes this place has experienced. My order: Egg Roll, Fried Rice, Chicken Breast/Teriyaki and Shrimp with veggies. Friend’s order: Special order of Shrimp Chow Mein. All items were delicious as always. We had ordered a cup of the Hot and Sour soup and after noticing there was pork in it(we don’t eat pork) we returned it and they gladly refunded that item with no issues. If you have a craving for large portions of Chinese food, sauce for days and don’t want to break the budget — come here! Enjoy! P. S. Cash only(What a surprise!)

Was not a big fan of their Chinese food. Food was the most bland chinese I ever had. They were cheap with the meat amount and give you a lot of rice tho.

First time at this location and the service was great but the food… not so much. The teriyaki chicken had a funky taste to it n the kung pow chicken tasted kinda plain. Next time I guess I’ll just ask to try the food first or something.

The restaurant has a funky smell to it, the food is disgusting. I do not recommend at all.

Love This Place, I’ve been going here since I was a kid. Food is good for the price you pay! This place has better flavoring than other Chinese Places! Whenever I’m in the mood for Chinese, this is the place I go to.

I decided to come here yesterday after seeing a recent positive review. Needless to say I was very disappointed. I got half fried rice half chow mien and orange chicken. Very very bland. I couldn’t even finish the whole plate and I love Chinese Food. To top it off I got a horrible stomach ache and it didn’t end there. Please do not eat here. Find another place.

I’ve been going here since I was in high school and still make my monthly stop here. What can I say about this place? It’s fast, cheap, tasty, large portions and unhealthy. It’s every fat kid’s dream restaurant. There have been several different owners since I started going here. Fortunately, the recipe has remain the same and I always end up getting the same thing. My gluttony plate: 1) Half Fried Rice Half Chow Mein, 2) Broccoli Beef, and 3) Peppered Steak. My mouth is watering right now thinking about this place. BRB. *hops in car, drive there, order 2 item combos, drive back and sign back on Unilocal* Anyways, this place is great and probably the best fast food chinese joint. 5* for the history and tastiness.

Let’s get one thing straight from the start. I am EXTREMELY picky when it comes to Chinese food! Especially with orange chicken & chow mein! So no Panda Express or Pick Up Stix for me. Strictly China King baby! I’ve been a customer here since I was in elementary school. The routine would go like this: my parents would bring my siblings & me on the weekends. We had the option of heading to Mickey D’s next door or having China King. My siblings would always choose Mickey D’s & me being well past the age of happy meals(in reality the toys got lame during the late 90s) I choose China King with my parents. Oh man can you say deliciousness? Even to this day I get the same things! Half chow mein half steamed rice, orange chicken, & spicy chicken. I might switch it up every now & then with spicy chicken wings or broccoli beef. And sometimes I get some egg rolls if I’m feeling greedy. The portions are HUGE! OMG you can feed two people with the amount of food you receive! It runs you about $ 6 for a two item combo. Not a bad deal at all. A quick tip come an hour before closing for max portions ;)

Looking for some good olé’ chinese take out food that’s worth every penny? I have been going here since I was high school(pls refrain all the dinosaur jokes haha) To this day I still come here for some crouching tiger hidden dragon Chinese food! Weapons of choice: — Fried Rice & Chow Mein — Chicken Wings(no one in town makes it like them… glazed and crispy to perfection!) — Broccoli Beef — Orange Chicken(Glazed perfectly without the tangy orange peel flavor) — Hot & Sour soup They offer party trays too! A quick in and out stop for food! But be aware and warned…“food coma” automatically included w/all meals at no additional charge!

I’ve been going here since High School so I may be a little bias, but I love this place! The ‘orange chicken’ is actually not the normal orange flavored chicken, but rather it was originally called Mandarian chicken. Not sure what the change the name or tell people its not but I don’t think they list the food item names. The chicken wings are probably my favorite. I would crave for it weekly and they always give out big portions. Sadly I don’t live around the area anymore, but I would have the occasionally cravings almost weekly.

Man, unfriendly service and poor tasting food(fatty chicken, not good pieces). Prices aren’t great. Best thing about this place is that the food smells good and they try to get u out quick. Cash only here. This place is not recommended, unless u really want greasy, MSG-laden, blah-tasting Chinese food quick n can’t go another couple miles for Chinese food at Donut Star on Harbor and Warner.(Donut Star-Chinese food is not too shabby.)

This is a Chinese fast food restaurant so expect the normal«Panda Express» type foods like beef with broccoli, orange chicken, chicken with mushroom, pepper chicken. I love their spicy chicken wings. It’s really yummy. I crave for it sometimes when I work. There’s something special in their sauce. It doesn’t taste like orange chicken or honey chicken. It just tastes very good(especially when you get a piece that’s a little crispy). I’m not telling you to drive all the way to this restaurant to check it out, but if you’re in the neighborhood try it out and tell me what you think.

I’ve gone by this place countless time since I was a kid but never bothered to try it out… I guess you could say I was turned off by the Puyi/Little Emperor logo and the«China King» written in Rickshaw font– most Chinese take-out places have tacky names, but this one takes the cake! It’s a danky little place in the McDonalds plaza on Harbor and McFadden– with an arcade next door and the famed Café Lu(check out my review on Unilocal) in the back. I walked in and looked at the faded menu board behind the counter and was surprised… over $ 5 for a two-item combo? That’s pricey for a place like this! I glanced at the heating lamp-lit dishes and was struck by how dull the food looked, even for take-out. I decided to get an order of orange chicken with steamed rice and chow mein. Honestly, the most bland tasting chow mein I’ve ever had, and the chicken was so rubbery, even the copious amounts of breading and«orange sauce» didn’t help. Given the two previous reviews, I thought I’d at least give the chicken wings a try. It cost about $ 4 for 9 wings and a buck more for 15– what a deal! Unfortunately, I disagree with both Livingstone and Wei– the wings were not impressive at all. Think«spicy orange chicken on the bone» and that’s EXACTLY what it tastes like… Slightly breaded, drenched in sauce, sticky, with a hint of spice. Big whoop. If you’ve got a hankering for Chinese take-out, I suggest you cross the street to the Northgate Supermarket plaza and eat at Lucky Chinese Food next to Little Caesar’s Pizza… Much bigger bang for your buck, AND they have a more clever and amusing logo as well– Chef Teddy Bear!

Since I am a Santa Ana homer as well. I agree with Wei. This place is where I came when I was little. The positives are the portions are great. The food is not bad either. To me I feel like a mongolian, barbarian when I eat here. The grilled chicken thigh is great. With Steamed rice and the chow mein is good too. The orange chicken is the biggest orange chicken ever. It is like the size of a golf ball. Seriously. Overall they offer a good variety of foods. You cant go wrong with anything here. Green pepper beef very good. Orange chicken good. The kung pao is kind of weak. The beef brocolli is decent. The absolute best thing they have is there wings. The wings are an item that they can put five stars next too. The curries are kind of spicy. But get this the portions are huge. You can order ala carte. Which they give you 25 wings. For 5 dollars. Orange Chicken ala carte 5 dollars and change. Best bang for the buck chinese seriously. massive amounts of food for low prices. whats not too like?

I’ve been eating here since I was 10, surprisingly I’m still not blind from all the MSG they add to their food, but this place is basically is on par with a peanut butter and jelly sandwich you first ate when you were a kid. It’s your typical Chinese take-out joint with a really cool looking fish in it. Don’t expect too much coming to this restaurant as its pretty much a hole in the wall. The only cool attraction at this place is the fish tank they put up with a really freaky looking fish in it, not sure what type of fish it is, but you can’t help but stare at it… its long… big eyes… and looks like some sort of serpent from a Greek myth… still amazing though. The best chicken you can get there are the Spicy Chicken wings. It has the right amount of sweet and sour, with nothing too overbearing on your taste buds. If you want to accommodate that chicken with something else, just get the chow mien as the fried rice is very very very bland… kinda like how Joey Fatone back in the day when he was with N’Sync…he had nothing on JT. It basically tastes like it needs a lot more salt and pepper to it, very very sub-par and barely tastes like anything. You’re probably better off with white rice if you actually want some type of rice with the chicken… or your better off just not eating it and ask for $ 10 worth of the Spicy Chicken Wings. Everything else is pretty much mediocre, such as the beef and broccoli. Don’t bother with their orange chicken as it doesn’t taste sweet at all, unless thats how you like your orange chicken… just tangy. If its a night where you just want some type of Chinese food to eat right after work and you’re tired from your boss yellin at you all day than stopping by isn’t too bad of an idea. If its a night where you want to go to some place new… you’re better off somewhere else than here… trust me… unless you want to see a really freaky fish, than by all means.
