Karina the aesthetician is the bees knees! She is so amazing at what she does and defiantly has the touch. She is very clean and takes a lot of pride and time in her work. I had a facial and microdermabrasion done and I left feeling pretty dang awesome! She has a lot to offer. Book an appt today and you definitely won’t be disappointed. kelsey is the best stylist hands down!!! need a stylist that will actually listen to your needs and request, look no further than kelsey at cartel salon! not only does she really make a effort to make you feel comfortable, but she is the best stylist hands down when paying attention to detail and really going after what the clients are looking for. i have gone to kelsey 3 times within the last 5 months and from the beginning she has exceeded my expectations and i am an extremely picky client, i usually have something to complain about every time i get serviced but not with kelsey, i felt like i got a makeover every time i left her chair, she truly is passionate for what she does and it shows in her work!

I recently decided to get a loose wave perm since I was tired of my flat straight hair. It was really good in the beginning, and I really liked how my hair looked with the perm. However, after 3 days, I washed my hair and now it’s flat like before with some frizz here and there. My hair lost all of the waves, and I’m pretty disappointed. The hair stylist ensured me that it’ll last at least 2 months but mine only lasted 3 days, and for a price of $ 140, I’m quite upset.
UPDATE: The salon called me a few days after my first review and asked me what the problem was, and I told them what was going on. They then asked me to come in so that they can help fix my hair. I gladly accepted since my hair was still only partially wavy. I’m glad that I did because when I came in, they examined my hair and told me what the problem was and how to fix it. They did all that for free and told me that since I paid that much for a perm, I should be happy with the results. My stylist, Perla, even gave me one of the products that I needed for free! Now my hair looks as good as when I first got the perm!
Overall, this place has really great customer service and really care about their customers and if they’re happy with the results. My perm looks great so obviously the stylists here know what they’re doing and are skilled at it.

Got tired of my girlfriend messy hair it was cut uneven and so we looked up to Unilocal and found the Cartel salon we knew they ment serious business just by the name of the Salon, we had Kelsey help us with her uneven short hair she knew how to fix it evenly and to make it grow out evenly it looks clean cut and beautiful. The price was a little bit expensive for 50 dollars for when I called in for the rates the lady said it was around 35 $ but it was way worth it they even have stuff to help with thinning hair that I’m gonna get for myself.
I definitely recommend this place for a professional cut everyone was very nice and didn’t give any attitudes or excuses.

I found the best eyebrow threader ever! Karina is so meticulous, detailed, and takes her time to shape your brows according to your face shape and preference. I live in SF but always come to see Karina whenever I’m in the OC. She is better than any specialist I’ve seen in San Francisco and is also super friendly and a pleasure to talk to. Love her! Would give more stars on Unilocal if I could.

I came in today for a pixie haircut. I had a pixie back in high school and loved it. It’s been nearly 10 years since then and I was getting tired of the long hair and maintenance so I came to Cartel.
Great customer service. The front desk was friendly and nice. Clean, stylish décor, and great items for sale at the boutique too!
Hair: I had long hair that touched the middle of my back. Jazzmyne cut my hair in lengths, first a Bob then shorter as she went just in case I didn’t want to go shorter.
She is so attentive and patient with me! Even when I had no idea how I wanted the pixie other than how I saw it in the sample photo she was so nice. She gave me her opinion on what she could do next and it was great.
I felt a weight was lifted off me.
Jazzmyne probably thought I was crazy though cause I kept saying I wanted it shorter haha.
I’ll definitely be back when my hair grows out and needs more styling. Thank you, Jazzmyne and Cartel salon!
Haircut was $ 60+tip.

It was my first time for doing hair color in US –so excited. I planned to do the silver-​blue ombré but not enough time to do the whole process. So I decided to do hair cut and treatment instead. Kelsey was the very wonderful hair stylist. She welcomed me warmly and paid attention on me what I exactly wanted. She designed the younger look for me on Saturday (12÷19÷15). Then I went back for ombré on Monday (12÷21÷15). She was very cute and professional. She talked and explained everything til I got it clearly. After I had waited for 6 hrs., I finally got the blue ombré I love!!! Because of I am Asian who has the dark brown hair, that’s why it took longer time than usual. It was amazing like Kelsey has the magic hands. I will definitely recommend Kelsey and Cartel Hair Salon to all my friends.

I see Karina at Cartel Salon for threading and she is awesome! She is always professional and on time and the sweetest person ever! I highly recommend her!

I visited the salon after much research last week. I was finally getting the pixie cut I have longed for for years and it was my first short hair EVER. I made an appointment for Tuesday at 5:30 and, coming from crazy LA, was running late. I called to give them a heads up and they said it was fine. Finally made it and the lovely girl at the front desk was smothered with phone calls, customers, stylists and she was handling it all beautifully. I was about 15 mins. Late and she gave me an apologetic look as she was on the phone, which I appreciated! Once she was off, she took my information and apologized and was wondering if I wouldn’t mind coming back in an hr as to my stylist had another customer coming in soon and she just got swamped with the calls she was unable to call and felt so bad. No worries though I was late!
Finally my appointment comes and my stylist was with Tori who is great with short hair. She was super friendly and nice and I showed her two photos of the type of hair I was interested in. I wanted her opinion and she recommended I go with the other style as to it can look dated. I loved her honesty and off we went! Wash with a great scalp massage, snip snip, dry, and style — easy! I was super nervous going short but was confident I was in great hands. Two weeks later, I am loving my hair, so many compliments, and having so much fun playing with it!
I cannot recommend tori any more for pixie cuts! Her Instagram also has wonderful photos! I’ll definitely be back! Thank you Tori for an amazing amazing first pixie cut I am in LOVE.

I am from out of state and I am very picky about who cuts my hair. I needed to get a trim very badly and had to be referred to Cartel by a friend. I went to see Damon. And he cut my hair exactly like I asked him to. Just to trim without taking out any length. My hair looked very healthy and clean. It has now been several months and I am going back to get my hair trimmed by him again this weekend.

Damon. where have you been all my life?! I recently came into Cartel as a first time client. Let me just say that first impressions are extremely important in a business. As soon as I stepped into the salon, I was warmly greeted. The girls at the front asked if I had an appointment and since I came early, they offered me comolimentary coffee and snacks as I waited. This salon has a cute clothing boutique in it as well. Did not mind waiting at all. Damon met with me right on time and he was extremely attentive to what I wanted. I came in looking like strawberry shortcake with my orangey pink crazy hair that was the result of TWO other hair salons! clearly needed a fix ASAP. Told him I also didnt want to damage my hair because it had already gone through so much dyeing. My color correction took about 3 hours. Every single minute was all about the minor details of my hair. Janice, another stylist there also came on board to help. With both of their keen eye for detail, I was soooo surprised when my hair was brought back to life! I am now a GORGEOUS shade of blonde with a perfect base color that compliments my skin tone perfectly.
To anybody who chooses a salon based on low price or simply convenience (i.e. just being close to work or in the area, or everyone else was booked.) PLEASE do not make the mistake that I did and go somewhere else. Ask for Damon and/​or Janice and i PROMISE you your hair will never look or feel better. After all the coloring, my hair is in GREAT condition as I was also given a conditioning treatment (recommeneded to everyone, my hair is soooo soft still a week after!) I can honestly say I am now a lifelong customer of Cartel Salon. Thank you again!!!

I looked at a lot of different salons and did my research before going to Cartel Salon. I requested Amber Dee Cendejas based upon her reviews on Unilocal.She greeted me with a warm smile and gave me a great haircut.
She was meticulously and calmed my nerves. You never know what type of haircut you will get these days! She recommended some products and I will be seeing her again in four weeks. I am very picky who I go to and she put me at ease after she started cutting my hair. I would recommend her because she is an expert at her craft!

I can always feel confident and pleased with Alicia Bock working on my hair care needs!

Alicia, will be moving on to a New Chapter in her professional business. She’s relocating to a new area, but she’ll still be local and in her own element doing what she loves, while taking care of her clients. So, I suggest you try her out. You’ll be wondering why you’ve waited so long!

Thank you Brittney. You took your time and I had a blast. You made the experience worth every penny. My hair looks fabulous. I walked in wanting my hair all purple. She was honest — it’s not realistic to leave with a purple head of hair in one sitting. But she sure as heck did give me an ombré of a lifetime lol. Thank you SO much, I was able to make it to my birthday dinner and surprise my family with a new look.
She’s dedicated and everyone there is so sweet and involved. I’ve been looking for a place to take care of my hair for years. I’ve finally found it.

I normally see Evelyn but she wasn’t available the day I wanted to come in so I booked an appt with Jessica Rossu (not sure thats how you spell it.)
I made an appt because I wanted to get an ombré and have more blonde color in my hair. Evelyn did a caramel/​brown balayage which turned out awesome. I was a little nervous having someone new color my hair since I had a BADDD experience at another salon, but I feel like everyone is very talented at Cartel based on reviews and pics, etc.
Any who, when I met Jessica I immediately felt at ease because she was friendly and easy to talk to. She asked me questions about what I wanted to do to my hair and made sure we were on the same page. I really liked this about Jessica. I can tell she prides herself in making sure her clients are satisfied and leave with exactly what they want.
I showed Jessica a picture and we bounced ideas back and forth with one another. We ended up going with a color she described as «buttery blonde». I absolutely love it. The process took about 2 ½ hours, and was totally worth it. I couldn’t stop staring at my hair haha. One thing I really loved about my recent trip here was how meticulous she was with my hair. There was a client who made a last minute appt with her, and although he waited in the lobby while she was working on my hair, she didn’t rush at all.
Another thing, they sell a good selection of professional grade products like Redken and Pureology. I picked up a few bottles of shampoo/​conditioner on my way out, and they were reasonably priced.
I’m so happy I found a place that has not disappointed me. Thank you Cartel!
