Driving around Sanford is kind of depressing. The entire place is for sale with thrift shops on every corner, but not that many restaurants. Despite the low rating of this place I decided to stop for lunch. There were plenty of cars in the parking lot, the lot itself was roomy and nice. The building was in good shape, and clean on my visit. The service was fast and friendly. My tea glass never went empty and I got tea to go. They have specials for lunch plus a full menu. I got the baby shrimp, and a friend got flounder. The food came out in a timely manner, it was all fresh and hot. It had a good taste. Portion sizes were huge. The price was great with lunch and tea under $ 10 out the door. This is your typical fried seafood house, not gourmet over priced seafood. I have no idea why the ratings are so bad for this place, but the food here is as good as any, great price and great service.

The place has gone done each year I return to NC. The service is friendly and the sweet tea is good, but the food was not good this time. I am sad.

i don’t know how you can even describe this place. seated like cattle, i actually ordered clam chowder, have you ever seen green clam chowder?! i moved here from cali and living close to two oceans you would think something here would be fresh. the only fresh thing i got was air when i left this place. i feel for sanford if they think this is seafood. the only good thing i can say is that the service was pleasant. it’s not their fault the food is icky. lovely and polite and accomodating. my husband and i joke that when we go out to dinner we can always go there, i would rather eat taco bell! bad food but good service, those employees would be better off elsewhere.

This is your typical NC fish camp type restaurant. That’s a good thing, I moved back to NC because I missed these kind of places. Is it Bonefish Grill or Red Lobster? Thankfully not, there’s enough of those if that’s what you’re looking for. I like the mom and pop type hole-in-the-wall places, and this fits that bill. Keep your order simple, popcorn shrimp and flounder or deviled crab and sweet tea and you won’t be disappointed. I wasn’t.

My husband and I decided to try out Sanford’s only seafood restaurant and we were not disappointed. The food was amazing! Huge portions and decent prices. The waitresses were very nice and attentive and the young lady at the front register was extremely friendly! We will definitely be coming back!

This is the last reviewed restaurant in Sanford. Authentic Calabash style seafood at reasonable prices with nice nice people working there. They give you more food than you can shake a stick at. It is awesome. I got the founder and it’s crazy. 2 prices the size of my arm and like a pound of crispy fresh fries. The Cole slaw is perfect, and hush puppies are in rings. I love this place and drive from Holly Springs for lunch… totally worth the trip.

We made a grave error and went here without reading the Unilocal reviews. That was on us but the reviews are spot on. The place was crazy busy with tons of cars in the parking lot but I honestly cannot tell you why. The only reason I can fathom is that it is local and the only option in Sanford. I can say that it is NOT because of the quality of the food or service. If you choose to eat here after reading these reviews then shame on you.

If you can’t cook or just eat microwave meals all the time… then you might like this place.

Don’t waste you time. Go out of Sanford to find seafood. Greasy and bland fried food is what you’ll find. The food is staked on a tiny plate so you pretty much have to eat from top to bottom, disappointing. Don’t be foolex by the amount of cars in the parking lot. People don’t know any different because is the only seafood option in Sanford.

Fried everything. Good not great. Decent value. No competition to force any improvment.

Mediocre food, poor service. The food is nothing special, just standard fried stuff. The service was beyond slow, with no apparent reason(the restaurant was NOT packed). Not sure at all how it’s in business.

I’m still trying to figure out why this place was so packed on a Friday night, although I’m close to settling on lack of alternatives. Freeze dried French fries + broiled baby shrimp that had to have been seasoned with Cup-o-Noodle flavoring. The hush puppies were more doughy than they should have been and the salad was a plate of iceberg lettuce with 3 tomatoes, 2 cucumbers, 4 pieces of onion and a conservative amount of cheddar cheese. Sweet tea was top notch, however. Don’t set your expectations too high; this place is inland enough that all bets are off with respect to seafood quality.
