Western Garden Centers

Very nice place I think the time that I arrived it is so close to fall they didnt have much that I wanted.
They are pretty pricey also. But I think I will go back in the spring.

I have been here almost weekly all spring. I know nothing about gardening and they have been very helpful. They are the best garden center around for vegetable and have great selection of anything else you might need. The employees are more than willing to help and tell you exactly what you need to know. Also, the prices are great.

What a great nursery! After 3 visits this spring/​summer I have decided this is my favorite garden destination!!! Millcreek Gardens lost some points with me lately so I was on the hunt for a new place. I found it!
When I went in for my acidic potting soil they were super accommodating and brought it right out to my car, without my asking.
The plants all look super healthy too! They have lots of beautiful ground covers which I hope to buy soon.
The real kicker for any store is when I show up just before closing, which was by accident, and they were very nice. There was no rushing me out the door and they still offered to help me out to my car.
The entrance is gorgeous and CLEAN with lots of beautiful garden accessories and planters.
Prices are on the medium to higher side (equivalent to or a tad lower to Millcreek Gardens) but they offer it ALL!!! I know I can find what I need here and from past experience get helpful service too!
I can’t speak for the reception area but it looked very nice.

I found some aphids on my petunias and there weren’t that many yet, but I wanted to get rid of them. I went to this shop to see what kind of spray they recommended and the rep that helped me suggested a spray that was on sale for $ 5.99. I was told the spray would kill aphids, but not my petunias. When I went to checkout the cashier was extremely rude and she didn’t honor the $ 5.99 price and instead charged me $ 10.99. I went home and followed the directions on the bottle and the next morning all the aphids were dead, but so were a lot of my petunias! I don’t understand how this place could have such great ratings when they treat customers so poorly. Maybe the people I interacted with were just having an off day, but I will never go back there again!

Here’s a little secret: I like hanging around garden shops in the dead of winter. That feaux tropical heat is really warm and comforting. No, like WARM when it’s a hot outside.
It’s not winter right now, but I’m equally drawn to garden centers like this one. They’ve always got what’s in season, even before the season really gets going. Seeds early in the year, spring bulbs, annuals, perennials, fall bulbs, and the cycle just keeps going.
This WGC has certainly had a transformation from my childhood. It was never run-​down, but it certainly felt more industrial greenhouse than it does now. These days you can rent the place out for weddings. I haven’t been to one, but thumbs up to you if you choose a wedding at a garden center.
I’m on board with jut about everything here. I’m a garden nerd so I can’t find all the weird veggies that I like, and for me the fall bulbs seem a touch on the spendy side (not to WGC’s fault – they’re just spendier in town than if you were to order online) but other than that I don’t mind dropping by to spend some time. Even in winter.

I love Western Gardens. This is a must-​stop place every spring. Yes, I drop a small fortune every year, but the prices here are comparable to the home improvement super-​stores and the selection and quality here are a bit better. The employees really know their stuff – growing zones, sun vs shade, high pH, low pH, high water, low water, perennial vs annual, etc etc. There’s also a separate area called «The Atrium at Western Gardens» where they hold events like wedding receptions. It’s a beautiful space for special occasions.
