My wife and I stopped here after a day spent at Cedar Point. She had never been to a Bob Evans before, so we decided to give it a shot. When we first entered there were several groups ahead of us, but no employee was there to seat us. Finally after several minutes, one of the managers came to seat a table and I had to get his attention before he ran off again. When they finally called our name we were to a table that the busser was still wiping down. She left it completely wet. I asked for a dry towel, which never came. We went ungreeted for at least 10 minutes. In fact, I do not recall seeing our server out in the dining room at all until she finally approached us and asked what she could do for us. My wife ordered the 5 cheese grilled cheese and I ordered the wildfire chicken salad. When the server brought my bread out, she dropped the butter on the table. She apologized and said she would bring more. She did not until I asked for it when our dinner came out. She then made it seem as though we had asked for extra butter and she had gotten in trouble with her manager for bringing it to us! The food really did not take long to come out, but one of the 5 cheeses in the grilled cheese comes on the outside of the bread and it was burnt. Our server did not come back to us until she dropped off the check. All in all, they were busy and very clearly understaffed. Four waitresses, two managers and a busser could not handle the business. Every empty table in the dining room was left dirty until they needed to seat someone. At one point one of the managers came to our table to offer me more coffee, and I really wanted to let him know that that was the last thing he should be doing. We even watched one of the waitresses yelling at the manager in their open kitchen. Needless to say, we would not return.

I haven’t been in to a Bob Evans in YEARS, but we slept in too late for our hotel’s complimentary breakfast(sigh, but the sleep was worth it) so we headed here for a quick breakfast. I don’t like eggs but luckily my boyfriend does, so I got the combo platter with 1 egg, sausage, hash browns, and a biscuit. I have a weird affinity for restaurant toast(the butter is SOGOOD) so I got that on the side. Originally I asked to substitute ham for the sausage, but the waitress later said they weren’t able to do that(double sigh) so I had turkey sausage, which was quite good. I’m glad I looked on Unilocal beforehand because the Retail Me Not tip was definitely legit(yay) — we got 30% off our meal, which was very reasonably priced to begin with(about $ 18 for two breakfasts). Apparently there are some Bob Evans’s near me, so I’d go back if I was in the mood for breakfast or an early lunch. This one seemed to get very crowded around noontime(we showed up around 11/11:30am), just as a heads up, so try to get there slightly before or after if you’re going for lunch.

We had a really good experience here for breakfast. The server was great. She was attentive and understanding of some special needs we had. Food came fast and together for a large party and was exactly as advertised. :) The best part is that I had a retail me not coupon on my phone and they took it right off at the register — saving me $ 7!

If there was a no star button that’s what it would be. This place is joke! I go there with 2 friends at breakfast of all times 6:30 am. And can’t get sat after 15 minutes! Really! They weren’t even busy. They had people at 6 tables(most with 2 or 3 people) and 2 waitresses waiting on them. Y’all market yourselves as a mainly a breakfast resturant and can’t even staff enough people acknowledge 3 guys waiting to be sat!

We has a very nice Saturday family dinner at this Bob Evans about 12 minutes from castaway bay. Restaurants in general around Cedar point are very expensive so this was a very pleasant surprise. Good value, good down home food, good portion sizes, fast Professional service and meet all our expectations. We looking forward to our next visit.

For some reason, there is always a wait here, even though there are open tables. It is a little weird that they took my name, but when we were seated there were several open tables. Beyond that the service was a little slow and I was not sure if it was because they were busy or what. The food was good though and I was overall happy with my experience. I would go back, but I hope they can get a little more organized.

I wish I could give zero stars for our visit here. We came on a Saturday morning as a table of five. We were told that our wait would be 15 – 20 minutes, which was expected for that time of day. We waited 15 minutes and saw groups that came in after us being seated. We asked the hostess how much longer and she acted perturbed that we asked, telling us, «You’ll be seated soon.» We waited for another five minutes, watching two more groups being seated who came in after us. We again asked, and she tersely told us, «Soon.» At this point, I leaned over the podium and found the cause of the issue — our name had been crossed off the list. Neither time we asked did she ever look at the list. We pointed out to her that our name was crossed off and she seated us immediately. Unfortunately, she seated us in the back room which was unoccupied, had another table that still had dirty dishes on it, our table that was not completely wiped down, and apparently no waitress assigned to it. We sat there for ten minutes before a waitress came to ask us for our drink order. We told her our drinks and pointed out that the table wasn’t wiped down. She came back a minute later with a spray bottle and a rag to clean the table. Rather than give us a heads up to move away, she immediately started spraying, catching my daughter in the face with the cleaning liquid and also hitting two other peoples clothing. At this point, I found the manager and told him the entire situation since we arrived. His response was to say that the hostess was used to working nights and she must have been overwhelmed and gave no response at all to the issue with the waitress and the cleaning solution. We finished our meal, which was poorly cooked(my wife’s eggs were overcooked, my ‘toast’ was barely more than warm bread, and my friend’s pancakes were under-cooked and raw in the middle). During our time at the table, over 45 minutes, the one uncleared table when we arrived was still uncleared when we left. Obviously, we will not be returning here…

While passing through the Sandusky area I made the mistake of stopping at Bob Evans for breakfast when I KNOW just up the road is Jolly Donut where you can get breakfast for half the price. Plus, there are at least five breakfast places that aren’t chain restaurants within a 10 minute drive. But I stopped at Bob Evans because I’ve had some good breakfasts there in the past. If you’re out on the desolate American Interstate Highway in some Godforsaken place like Illinois and there is nothing but chain restaurants when you pull off for breakfast, if there’s a Bob Evans you’re in luck. Relatively. They know how to make sausage, that’s for sure. Maybe they ought to try making coffee out of pork, it would at least be better than the light brown warm stuff I downed a sad mug of. For once I was not impatient at all for my refill. I don’t know for sure, but the coffee«cream» tasted suspiciously like liquid nondairy creamer. It’s hard to tell anymore because cows have been so genetically modified they’re pumping out godknowswhat. But if it was nondairy creamer, they really should warn a person– I know some people who are allergic to that stuff and a few ounces of it will turn them into a seething mess. I ordered grits, happy that they even still serve grits, asked for hot sauce– which was Tabasco– things were looking up, until I read the ingredients of the«butter”– some kind of whipped, partially hydrogenated petroleum or the like something or other. It tasted okay– maybe I shouldn’t have read the ingredients. It’s not like I read the ingredients on the sausage– I’m not a fool! I just get in the habit of reading ingredients, being around all these GFGF’s(gluten-free girlfriends)– none of whom were with me on this trip thankfully, because besides the sausage, but biscuits are the thing here. Of course it’s not hard to make good biscuits, just hard to make good healthy ones. In fact, the whole place seemed to be overrun with cakes, desserts, muffins, breads, and biscuits, and as you know, heavy use of white bleached wheat flour and sugar is the last refuge of the bastards who put profits ahead of the health of their customers. By all accounts(or at least one account) Bob Evans was a good man, an Ohioan, a restaurateur who started this chain of places named after him who placed quality over quantity and didn’t try to take over the world like some of his competitors. He didn’t spread himself too thin like David Thomas, who besides starting the Wendy’s chain branched off into the tragic Sisters Chicken experiment, as well as being head of the Boy Scouts and the lead singer for the avant-garde band, Pere Ubu. You could almost imagine Bob Evens paying a visit and finding himself helping out behind the grill. I’m not saying that ever happened, but I could imagine it. It would have been welcome on this morning, because though I’m not one of these crybabies about slow service, a half hour is kind of long to wait for breakfast to be cooked. It’s not like it was Cedar Point season. They obviously had one guy behind the grill back there because plates were emerging from the kitchen rather slowly. Anyway, Bob Evans died in 2007, and you’ve got to wonder who is minding the store these days. But that really is the question for our time, isn’t it?

I ordered the cinnamon crème hotcakes and got pancakes with what looked like mud slathered on top. They forgot the cream completely. My scrambled eggs looked like a scrambled omelet. Not coming back again.

This place reminds me of Ram’s Horn back in metro Detroit. Bob Evan’s is a country style breakfast/brunch centered diner. Though we have a few locations in metro Detroit, my GF and I decided to have a late lunch here while we were in Ohio, since it’s an Ohioan favorite. I got the steak and eggs — and was a little disappointed that the steak was only a 6 oz. steak. I would have liked it to be 8−10oz. I had to order an extra a la carte sausage links & bacon to really fill my hungry-man style appetite. The steak and eggs came with 2 starches(I chose a piece of wheat toast and a biscuit) as well as a skimpy portion of hashed browns. Overall, I spent about $ 9 + $ 6 on extra a la carte meat sides, and still left a little hungry. The portions of steak and hashed browns could have been bigger, and it should include 3 eggs, not 2. I got an iced caramel coffee with free refills for $ 2.29, but it tasted REALLY watered down. No real or rich flavor to it. My girlfriend was satisfied with her breakfast, but she has a smaller appetite. What Bob Evans does have going for it, is the farm fresh ingredients. You could tell the sausage links, bacon, eggs and all the food in general is delivered fresh from nearby farms. The sausages were big and meaty, and you could tell they were cooked from raw. Overall, I felt like Bob Evans really caters to older folks with smaller appetites. I felt that breakfast for two at about $ 26+tip was a little steep considering I left somewhat hungry. I should not have to order steak & eggs and add bacon & sausage on the side and STILL leave hungry. If you have a moderate appetite, I would recommend this place — but otherwise you may want to opt for another diner or a mom & pop that serves up bigger quantities for comparable or lesser prices… TIP: Be sure to visit their website and join the«BE-Email Club.» They will e-mail you a «buy any breakfast, get another of equal or lesser value free«printable coupon. This is a great coupon to print out before visiting here. Too bad I found this coupon AFTER going, because the price would have came down to a better bang for the buck with said coupon…

Home cooked food in the heart of Ohio. The meat loaf and gravy with the side of mashed potatoes and mac and cheese was fulfilling. It did a body good. It reminded me of Perkins in a way. Can’t say that I would go to one if there was one close by us, even though my husband still talks about it.

This place reminds me of Marie calendars or perkos. To start off I ordered a Carmel mocha which was a little sweet for me but not bad. It was bottomless which was good because the juice that we ordered was not. We ordered the Strawberry banana stuffed hotcakes which were to pancakes with vanilla cream cheese in the middle topped with strawberries and bananas. They were pretty good. Never would have thought stuffed pancakes would be that good. We also ordered the Pot roast hash Which really surprised me. I didn’t think the pot roast would be that great but we scarfed it down like we hadn’t eaten in days! The potatoes were a little salty fore but nothing that ketchup couldn’t fix. The price was worth the food. Our cheapest meal yet!

Slob Evans, we used to call it. Come here for the sausage, eggs, and oven fresh biscuits. The sausage is still the best mass-market breakfast sausage I’ve ever had. I’m not a big fan of much else, from the faux-country user experience to the gigantic crowds(I’m talking quantity and size here, people) packing the holding pen in front of the host’s station.
