I am sorry to have to cut ties with pearl garden. They are one of the few chinese delivery in San Ramon and we were customers for years. However, after several deliveries with food missing from our order, we just cannot keep patronizing this establishment. After the most recent incident, I called to have the missing food item refunded to my credit card after not receiving it and they refused to process the refund. Just bad business.

I should have updated a long time ago. Although they really messed up in the past, I keep getting their food delivered and we have been happy with the food and service. It’s not my favorite Chinese food, but they deliver fast and it’s reasonably priced. We always get the Hunan chicken, beef chow mien and chicken fried rice.

This place cooks some solid Chinese food. Amy, the owner, is kind and sweet and really tries to know her customers. After becoming frequent customers, some of the staff greet us like family. You can’t go wrong with the food here. I love that they also deliver. Which came in handy on a day that I had a really sick child and had nothing to eat for lunch. Our usual go to dishes are: Broccoli Beef, sweet and sour pork, chicken chow mien, fried rice, wonton soup, fried wontons, and egg rolls. We’ve always preferred mom and pop joints and this place is definitely that… support your local business owners and say no to Panda Express.

There food is amazing! Defiantly a hidden gem. You wouldn’t think it as amazing as it is from looking at the outside. Perfect lesson not to judge a book by it’s cover! It’s our new place!

Till now the best Chinese joint in Sam Ramon and surrounding areas. Food is excellent and reasonably priced and in good portion size.

Food is good but the customer service lacks professionalism. I used to order frequently and sometimes orders upwards of $ 75. They charge a delivery fee; that’s cool but the last time I ordered they asked for a tip, I didn’t have extra cash and said sorry next time, the delivery person said I didn’t tip last time and they wouldn’t continue to deliver if I didn’t tip. They also spoke badly about me to my neighbors! I refuse to order from them again.

Went with my wife and my son. Food was good, service was good, and waiters were friendly. Pretty relaxed atmosphere and they provided complimentary soup for my son who is 18 months old and he usually gets cranky after some time in the restaurant and doesnt eat much but he finished the soup and was having fun… And my wife liked the food too so i guess i should visit more often…

I came here for dimsum on a Sunday morning. The thing is they don’t have the traditional dimsum items or the carts. You order from a menu and they bring it out to you. We ordered pork buns, scallion pancakes, and chow fun for two to share. For what it is, it was pretty good. It tasted like authentic Chinese food. –Kristen 4 stars from Kristen, Edmund wasn’t here to rate.

This is nearby so I had to try it. I thought the food wasn’t too bad. As for the pricing, it’s more expensive than I expected. I placed a phone order for take out. I had to try the Hunan chicken since it’s one of the more popular items. It was definitely good. I enjoyed it a lot. I love clay pots and I love beef stew. I had the impression the beef stew came with tofu, but nopes! Now when I look at the website, I think it’s pretty clear it’s just beef stew and lettuce. I thought the beef stew was okay. I ordered the string beans as well. String beans were delicious, who doesn’t love fried green beans with the chinese pickled vegetables? Yum. Overall, it wasn’t bad. When I saw my check, it was more expensive than I hoped but oh wells. I definitely will come back and try more. I like that it has dim sum and some more unique items.

This place used to have good breakfast and dim sum stuff, but I’m never going back again. Quality has gone down the drain, its getting dimmer and dimmer with the lighting in this place, and I’m pretty sure they changed their cook. Ugh.

One authentic Chinese restaurant. Although it may not be the greatest, but another place beside the Chinese restaurants in ulferts plaza. Great dim sum sections serves on weekends. Boiled pork dumplings– fresh & no(or not much?!) msg. 5 stars Chives pancakes– crispy but taste like reheat with grill — 3 stars Steamed pork dumplings(Xi long bao) — can taste the msg and not very juicy. 2 stars Sweeten soy milk — very yummy. 5 stars Savor sticky rice roll — big in size but a bit oily. 3 stars The owner was very nice and told us about the dinner special. I will give it another chance.

Review is for lunch, specifically their weekend Dim Sum lunch menu. We picked several items, and a few were quite good and a few were flawed. We were happy that there were Dim Sum options so close; however, it’s probably better to drive farther to Dublin/Pleasanton for better quality. First, the good: — Pork and Cabbage dumplings were juicy and I liked the smooth skin. They forgot the dipping sauce at first but it came later. Portions very generous given the price. –Pork won ton with spinach in broth were decent as well — smooth skin and juicy interior with a hint if ginger. It was almost as if they used the same dumpling filler. Broth was light and the spinach goes well with the dish. As for the bad: — Beef chow fun was really, really oily. For some reason they used extra wide noodles — like 2″ wide noodles. Beef was OK but way too much oil. — Wife had the congee with fish balls. She mentioned it was OK, certainly not the best but not really memorable. — Not sure if they serve tea upon request or whether its charged, but the free metal tea pot was hot water. Either that or tea in infinite dilution. And finally the ugly: — Sesame pork cakes were four per order and somehow I managed to eat two. The texture was thick and the insides had a good amount of oil. Should have went after a dessert or maybe a sesame pancake instead.

I ate here for the first time today. It was horrible. Everything, utensils were even dirty. There was no soy sauce or hot sauce on the table, one napkin on each table. Soup and salad were unacceptable. You get what you pay for here. How do you screw up Kung Pao Shrimp with too much salt? It wasn’t even spicy.

It’s been years since we were back to to Pearl Garden but we heard they change the menu as well as added a dim sum menu on the weekends. So we went twice last week to try the new items. This place really need restaurants etiquette. Had lunch here with 5 other people. I mentioned to the server the beef was really soft and mushy. The owner comes over and starts digging in my plate! REALLY!!! She did this out in the open where everyone can see!!! Then the server reaches over one persons plate where her sleeve hits the plate. So done with this place!

We have the absolute worst variety of americanized Chinese restaurants in the tri-valley. We’re absolutely desperate for decent chinese cuisine here — I’ve tried ‘em all and I keep going back to Pearl Garden. Entering the restaurant, you will be taken back to the early 1990’s — pink tablecloths, vinyl chairs, and laminate lazy susans in the center of the large tables. Ignore all this. You will also receive«efficient» service with little friendly interaction — ignore this as well. If you focus on the food, you’ll be delighted. I eat here often with the family and we routinely order the Hunan Beef, Sesame Chicken, Chow Mein, Hot & Sour Soup and String Beans. All of these items are excellent — even the pickiest of my children(including the nameless one that usually protests chinese food) is willing to eat at Pearl Garden. The bottom line is that the food makes up for everything else — at least to my tastebuds. Also, FYI — they have a separate«Chinese» menu here which must be requested — there are lots of folks eating interesting looking things that are not on the standard menu.

Good! Good, Friendly service. Fresh, good sized servings and food. Came for lunch, great lunch combo. Got kung pao shrimp and crab meat and cheese puffs. All pretty good! The shrimp were big compared to most places. Yum.

1st time. We did order to go. We eat out a great deal. I don’t want 2 give too many details but far below what I expected. We orderd an appetizer, chicken dish, Seafood dish and noodle dish. Just my opinion. Do get your own.
