I go out of my way to come here. I could get toys at Target or Walmart but I like the mom and pop feel of this place. They have a good selection of Melissa and Doug, Legos, learning toys, sports toys and even those European animal action figures I loved as a kid but my dad would never buy for me. They wrap your gifts and even allow you to pick out a cubby to «suggest» gifts for your little one. I showed up about 40 minutes before opening for a last minute gift and the store was closed. As I was driving away the owner arrived and opened up early for me. 10 minutes later I had a wrapped gift. That’s more than I would expect these days. They also have regular sales that they advise you of via email. They do not go crazy with the emails either. This is one store that I have not had to cancel my email from their mailing list. Solid five stars.

Love this local toy store and the staff are always friendly and ready to help pick out a great gift. Their birthday boxes are a must for kids birthdays. Makes shopping so much easier.

I went to this store looking for toys to develop fine motor skills for my son. The staff were great at pointing me to items that fit my son’s needs. Great service and great selection!

Tis the season to be… grumpy? I like independent stores, but do I have to pay up and get rude service? Staff are friendly, but owner/manager behind counter wearing red shirt and black baseball cap is really rude. I asked a question, mind you, just a simple question and the clerk says yes. She double checks with the the owner who is wrapping presents and she says, «no» with a nasty tone and not even turning her head. The clerk says, «I think you got your answer.» Wowza! I guess it is back to Walmart where the prices are cheaper and amazingly the staff is friendlier, too.

Unique, interesting, and playful toys. Not the typical«girl aisle» and«boy aisle» selections that you might find at a big chain. Not the hyper-expensive, boring but eco-friendly toys I have seen at specialty stores on the peninsula. These are things kids really LIKE! Many of the toys are educational, and they are also fun. My child loves to go there just to play with everything on display. The staff have always been nice, and I like the birthday box possibility. Tip: even if your child is going to someone else’s birthday, you could look through one of the boxes to get ideas of things selected by another child that age. I guess I’ll subtract one star for the price, but if «cheap» in the sense of generic/plastic/chintz is what you want, they don’t have it here anyway!

I love that San Ramon has a store where you can actually buy a present without the hassle of leaving San Ramon. The store is a bit on the pricy side, but they do have a very nice selection of educational and interesting toys for boys and girls. Gift wrap is cute and complimentary! The staff is helpful and friendly when I am trying to find something a little different for a gift. I also have bought fun travel games there. Today I received a knock at my door only to be handed my credit card that I left in their store. They personally delivered it! I had no idea that I had left it anywhere. A very thoughtful gesture to bring it to my house. I’ll continue to support Learning Express and hope more quality, small businesses come to San Ramon.

They have a good selection of toys here. We came for Legos. There was a decent selection. A bit pricey but we expected it.

Love this toy store! Not a big store but lots of interesting, different and fun toys. A bit pricy but I still rather go there than a toysrus.

My son got a gift card this Xmas and he really wanted to get a marble maze. We went into the store and he liked a maze that was pricey. I was not sure because of the price since I had not compared prices elsewhere but we ended up buying it because the helper assured me that I could return it with original packing if I wanted to. We did find the maze cheaper elsewhere, so I went to return the unopened box with the original receipt. The lady behind the counter(seemed she was the owner) asked me the reason for return and I said I found a better price elsewhere. She remarked back while issuing the return — «Well! I hope they gift wrap too!» How ridiculous! I had not had this maze gift wrapped when I bought it and only took it because I was told they had a no-hassle return policy. They lost a very loyal customer with that remark — I did a lot of Xmas shopping from here. The 2 stars are only because of the past experience with them. Used to really like this store.

Very cute store. We buy all our toys and kid gifts here to support them instead of Toys r Us. They have a cool hands-on gift registry for kids… Just let them run through the store and grab what they want, and put into a bin. That is their registry! Also sign up for their VIP club so you will get a punch card. Ask them how it works. I think they record all your pretax dollars spent there, and when you fill it up, you get a certain amount back as store credit. Free gift wrapping here too!!! And awesome customer service!

Such a fun and easy store set up. Friendly staff and the kids get to try out so many cool toys before you buy. Now if I had a bigger house for our new toys. FYI The Alex art table is amazing.

Shopping at big box stores can be a frustrating experience. While prices may be lower, quality is also low. Buying a toy based on price is a waste of time if the toy falls apart or a child gets bored with the toy almost immediately. I know I’m in trouble when the kids give me the obligatory thank you and kiss after opening their gifts. LET allows a discerning aunt to thoughtfully shop for toys that are educational, develop fine motor skills and/or improve problem solving proficiency. For the kids, the toys are just plain fun. With young nephews and a niece, I see many years of toy shopping here.

This store is wonderful — one of my favorite stores in Sam Ramon. They are our go-to for kid’s birthday presents and holiday shopping. They have been out in front of the whole rainbow loom phenomenon and offer a great selection of supplies and classes. I do wish they carried a larger Lego selection but we have a Lego store nearby so that will do. Overall I have been very happy with this store and their staff. Will definitely be back!
