Dr. Hilger has been my dermatologist for the last 20+ years (!). I have also seen him in his Oakland and Alameda offices. I wrote another more extensive review for the Alameda office which I won’t repeat here but I wanted to add my opinion given the single negative review above. I always had the impression that Dr. Hilger was a great physician, but after finishing my own medical training under some excellent physicians I now know his clinical judgment is second-​to-​none. If I had skin cancer I’d hop on a plane to see him first thing. I have happily referred family members to him and selfishly hope he will never retire.

This doctor MAIMED me! I had a mole on my nose that I wanted removed, but I was worried that it would scar. I had seen Dr. Greenberg first, and he said it would scar and I would need to go to a plastic surgeon instead. But Dr. Hilger assured me it would not scar and proceeded to remove it. After he removed the stitches a week later, I had a huge divot on the bridge of my nose, and have had to go to a plastic surgeon three times to get it fixed. It required a skin graft to replace the ¼ in scar he caused. It would have been much smaller and less traumatic if I had gone to a plastic surgeon to begin with. Obviously Dr. Greenberg is much more knowledgable in these things. I suggest going to him.
