William Patrick Design Builders

Will Lopes (the «Will» behind William Patrick Design Builders) is a true professional. He knows his business and does what he says he is going to do, on time and on budget, with a fine craftsperson’s attention to detail.
I’ve used Will on several occasions and each time was very pleased with quality of the work and the kind of human being that I was working with.
Having had unpleasant experiences with other contractors who went over budget and were generally irresponsible and undependable, I will definitely use Will and his crew again because of the kind of confidence they delivered.
To me, yes, the quality of the work and the creativity he brings to the interior design are very important. But I’ve been burned by contractors too often. So I’m writing this review because I feel like Will not only does quality work, but he is also a contractor that I can depend on with confidence.
That’s worth a lot to me. Just sayin’ ;-)

Will helped me reach my dreams — a bedroom remodel with French doors and a lovely redwood deck with wide stairs leading down into my garden. He and his crew were punctual and completed the job on time. It was a project that was managed so well that I could even sleep in my room during the remodel due to their creativity. They were organized and the project ran smoothly and on budget. Will is a reliable and trusted contractor who values his clients’ timelines and privacy.

Here are the facts: Will worked on our 1910 Roadhouse in Oakland for 10 months. There were problems managing the money from the start. Will hired a project manger in the middle of the work. Many mistakes were made and he was let go. The problems persisted. Will lost the help he had hired for bookkeeping and details. After this we noticed he had charged us twice for items. We then had to take over details like renting an industrial dehumidifier for the basement to dry. We spent $ 10,000 on a Panoramic door that was ordered and manufactured backwards. Will expected us to live with it and passed the blame on the the Company. Will did not manage our job well. We were left in the dark about the inspection and when I asked about the process, I was ignored and dismissed. After passing inspection we were left paying the balance to many subcontractors, which he had already received payment for. We are left with the work of staining our unfinished wood floor, installing an exterior door, sheet metal work, brick work, painting, fixing mistakes and cleaning which are all things Will had been paid for but did not complete. As a consumer it would have been much smarter of us to check his records at the Contractor’s Licensing Board. This experience was not awesome.

First things first… Will is awesome! Not only as a contractor, but an all around wonderful, delightful guy. If you’re looking for a experienced, well-​established contractor, than look no more… William Patrick Design is all that you need. Will came to us after we had gone through a horrific experience with a previous contractor, and with his keen expertise was able to swoop in and work with us to finish remodeling our home even though we had very limited funds to clean up the mess that we were trying to fix.
His crew was thorough, easy to work with, always on time and showed up as expected each day based on the schedule that was provided. Our house is BEAUTIFUL all because of Will! Not only is Will very professional, he’s fun to work with too. I highly recommend you call, you won’t be disappointed! We look forward to working with Will on future projects! :)

Its difficult to know where to start with this review. Do I start by saying what an awesome job he did on my kitchen? How creative, insightful and patient he and his team are? How the crew was punctual, respectful and went out of their way to make sure I knew that while they were there, I didnt need to worry about anything (including rushing back home to let my dogs out or give them water on a hot day).
Above and beyond any and all expectations. The work was immaculate.
Will is an incredible person. He walked into our nightmare situation and saved us at his own expense. Without getting into the details, Will made it possible for our family to have a safe and functional (as well as beautiful) home to live in after we were completely devastated by a very bad contractor who left our home with holes to the outside, no running water, heat or kitchen at all and two torn up bathrooms. The previous contractor left us broke, and left our house broken. We had been forced to live in hotels for two months when Will stepped in and at his own expense fixed our home knowing we wouldnt be able to pay for it for months. How many people would do something like this? It is not often that you come across a person like Will and I feel like meeting him was the most unexpected blessing of my life.

I can’t say enough about Will and his crew. They are top notch in every aspect. Considerate, hardworking, always willing to go the extra mile, I am happy to give this company a 5 star rating. I have worked with several contractors over the years and William Patrick Design is by far the best. I have not found a team that is as conscientious as this one.

Remodeling can be a very stressful experience, but not with Will. I’ve owned 3 houses and worked with eight different contractors over the years. Will is a straight shooter, super knowledgeable, and I suspect you’ll find he’s not the most expensive or the cheapest, but fair-​priced, and most importantly, a person of integrity who you can trust with your home and investment!
