Our initial experience with this salon was not so great: we showed up during business hours and no one was there, and when we made an appointment we still had to wait 20 minutes. I liked the hair cut my 4-year old got though so we decided to try it again and had a great experience the second time when my daughter decided to cut a big chunk of hair on one side. They fixed her right up with an angled/layered kind of look and were incredibly nice. I like the space and the location is great, so I’m glad we came back.

I have been bringing my kids to Connie since my oldest was a toddler(she is now 26). Connie has always done a beautiful job with all three of my kids. She is very caring and my kids love her. My son, who is now 16, will not let anyone else cut his hair. She is great with the little ones as well as the teenagers. She is very patient and really cares about making each child comfortable and happy. Having been a client for over 20 years I have been in Locks and Lollipops many many times. Connie has always been very professional, but more importantly she really engages the kids which, I think, really sets her apart from every other kid’s salon. My kids have grown up with her and adore her…

My son and I have been getting our hair cut by Deanna for about eight months. She is professional, friendly, and does a great job. When she cuts my son’s hair she has a TV playing movies to keep him entertained. And I enjoy talking to her while I get mine. Both my son and I highly recommend her.

Leanna does a great job cutting my daughter’s curly hair and the kids enjoy being there. Great location, easy in and out. Plenty of things to entertain the kids during a cut.

My toddler had two haircuts with Connie. She was late to both appointments, which is really hard on a parent when you’re left standing in the rain with your child, waiting for her to open the shop. When we finally got inside, both times, she still had to tidy up the place. It felt like she didn’t care. I’ve read other complaints about her tardiness, too. I think it shows a lack of professionalism. I didn’t like my toddler’s haircut in addition to these experiences. But she is a nice woman, who’s been cutting children’s hair for a long time — maybe just unaware of her actions.

We went for the first time a few weeks ago. During our trial run at Locks & Lollipops, My 2.5 year old daughter donated 9 strawberry blonde inches to Locks of Love. The folks at this hair salon couldn’t have been more careful with the pony tail cut and her new sassy cut. Great spot and they are WAY more talented than Panda Room, the only other option in Marin County to bring your kids.

We didn’t have a great experience here. When we arrived, the salon was dirty(hair all over the floor, toys strewn about), but the stylist was just sitting in a chair hanging out. I didn’t want to sit down or touch anything, it was such a mess. There was also a dog in the salon, which is okay I guess, but the stylist seemed much more concerned about the dog’s barking than about my son’s unease or what kind of haircut he needed. Her behavior was just weird. I felt uncomfortable from moment one, but since we were already there I thought we might as well do the haircut. I will say that the haircut looked nice in the end, but my son hated every last minute of it. The stylist didn’t seem at all interested in talking to him or soothing his fears, she just talked to me and pretty much ignored him. I don’t think that’s an effective strategy. So, I was hovering around trying to stop my child from screaming and prevent him from getting cut or falling out of the chair. It was stressful. Having since had a much better experience at another salon, I know that it does not need to be this way, and good stylists know how to work with children who are scared of having their hair cut. This was not the case at Locks & Lollipops. I am not one to callously throw around one-star reviews, especially when you’re dealing with a small business, but we had a really negative experience here and there’s just no way I would ever return or recommend this salon to another mom.

Connie at Locks & Lollipops is awesome. My two-year-old starting needing haircuts at 6 months but she’s very shy. Connie just sat her on my lap and managed to get a good cut out of a crying, uncooperative baby. Since then my daughter has realized that getting a haircut can be fun(she gets to play with toys, watch a video and have an animal cracker) and we go back every few weeks. Prices are comparable to other kid-friendly salons, but my experiences at the Panda Room do not compare.
