Horgan’s is as trustworthy and honest as it gets. They do great work. I was about ready to trade in my 2008 Lexus IS 250 because, well, to be honest, I was bored. But really it just needed a new clutch. So I decided to be practical and get the clutch fixed instead of buying a brand new car. Horgan’s did a superb job on my car. I swear it drives better than the day I drove it off the lot 7 years ago. It’s so smooth and drives like a dream. I was so pleased with their work, I got my car detailed and have been back in love with it like never before. I will take my car to them for transmission work from now on and I would highly recommend them to friends and family.

Far from home — I live in southern California — my newly rebuilt transmission wouldn’t shift up into «drive». Since Jim at Horgan’s came highly recommended, I called, he told me to come right over… even without an appointment, and I drove to his shop. We did a test drive («drive» started working) and he gave me car’s transmission and engine an overall review. He then ran the scan and realized that my problem was an intermittent dashboard error (correctable, if it ever happens again, by reinserting the key), not a transmission problem. I’m back in Encinitas with peace of mind and a working car. And he wouldn’t accept any payment! He has my business for life (and I’m gonna pay him from now on)!

Took my 87 VW Vanagon Westfalia to Jim at Horgan’s after my original mechanic in Redwood City did 3 Automatic Transmission rebuild, all of which failed within 5 – 7 days. Jim identified the issue and repaired it promptly for a decent price. He is soooo worth the drive we made from Fremont to utilize his wonderful shop. I HIGHLY recommend Horgan’s!!!

Horgans provided me with the single worst experience in car repair in the 30+ years of owning cars. After 2 days they had not looked at the car and after 4 days they had no idea what was wrong. I had to take the car back. A competitor fixed the transmission and I had my car back in another 3 days. Horgans provided no estimate at any time and still asked for hundreds of dollars for their time and effort to release the car. At no point did they communicate with me. All calls were from me to them.
I cannot recommend them in any way.
