So, I got this message from your«Customer Service» regarding my Unilocal review for the Novato location, which has since closed, and I can’t respond to her, why? From Clare A: Hi Lynette, let me apologize again for the poor burrito you received, that is absolutely not the experience you should have had! I hope you will allow me to mail you a couple of our eat free cards so you can go back and have lunch or dinner on us? If you are open to it please reply with a mailing address and I will send them to you.

I went in the other night on a Sunday. The times I’ve been there in the past, there wasn’t a line. Tonight there was 2 people ahead of me and 2 behind with a young lady on the cash register. It must have been close to 10 minutes and there was no progress in the line so I left. This is not the first time I’ve left. The personnel working there can’t seem to handle more then one person at a time. I’ve decide not to to frequent this establishment again even though I like the food.

It’s been over a year and a half since i’ve visited high tech… my last experience was bad, but i found myself desiring a burrito, so i decided to see whats up. I ordered the steak burrito with sour cream and also a cheese quesadilla. 16 $ out the door. The guacamole and the salsa were given in plastic containers this time, to my liking. The burrito was fresh and moist. I will say that it lacked salt, though this was easy to remedy. The place was clean, there were no issues in ordering and the meal was prepared quickly. If they had some music playing inside it would have made for a better wait. I’m upping my 2star prior review to a 3 star. A-OK high tech, i plan on returning soon.

I waited a very long time at the cash register before someone finally took my order. I ordered the Surf & Turf Burrito. My order was ready quick; as I expected, the burrito was bland and mediocre at best. Most of the tables were dirty and not wiped down. Of the six vacant tables, only one was clean enough to sit at. Overall, pretty disappointing meal. I would only go back in an emergency.

This is my go-to burrito place when in San Rafael. As a vegetarian, I appreciate that High Tech Burrito offers all of their sautés with a tofu option. These may not be traditional burrito fillings(e.g. BBQ) but they are good nonetheless. For keeping things basic, I opt for the bean and cheese burrito with pinto beans(hold the rice). Their prices are reasonable and the burritos are substantial enough for dinner(throw in an itty bitty from the kids menu to augment if needed) and therefore more than enough for a hearty lunch. This particular location has roomy indoor seating, with a small section of outdoor seating. Ample parking is available in the parking lot surrounding the building(it’s in a strip mall). It’s always clean and it appears to me that they keep their food prep area just as neat and tidy(you can see in from the seating area and cash register). I would say they do more take out than dine in; having done both, I have no complaints with either.

This was my first visit to this establishment, and I was not disappointed, but I was not wowed either. I had a basic chicken burrito on a flour tortilla, substituted all white meat, and held the beans(because, as part of my psychosis, I do not like beans, but, generally, I do like burritos). There were few customers, because the place had only been open for less than an hour for the day; nevertheless, my special order was whipped up quick and correct. It arrived hot — warmer than the typical burrito — which is okay by me. They melt the cheese onto the tortilla, which was unexpected, but not unpleasant. Truthfully, the burrito was quite bland, but that was my own fault. I should have been more adventurous and asked for a spicier add-in. I am likely to try this place again. The workers were pleasant, knowledgable, and quick. Most of the place was clean, but if, as a business, you decide to put mirrored tiles on the wall, you also must remain committed to cleaning them. There were a lot of smudges and fingerprints — like a busload of preschoolers had been let loose. It was gross. One word: Windex.

Not so good the second time around. Really could be more consistent. I came back here about 1 – 2 weeks after my initial visit and ordered the exact same thing and it was disappointing. It was at night time rather than in the day, excuse the pun, the different between the 2 was like night and day. As you can see in the photos, the two orders, which were exactly the same, look completely different. There was not enough salsa on the tacos and the cheese was lumpy and spotty. The meat tasted dry. It was a completely different taco. Perhaps this place is only good for lunch.

This is a review of dinner at High Tech Burrito in San Rafael. The ambiance is very basic and functional. The restaurant was clean and well maintained. They also have some outdoor tables. The staff was relatively friendly. However, I asked for a receipt and this seemed to put him out a bit. He gave me a «harumph» and said he would get it for me in a bit. He didn’t and I didn’t really feel like going back to the counter to try and wrangle it. The system is typical. You lineup, place your order, and pay. When it is prepared, they let you know and you get your food. It took less than ten minutes for my food to be prepared. Cabo Supreme(Chicken, Pork or Tofu, Fresh guacamole, cheese pico de gallo, sour cream) — I had mine with chicken. Street Tacos(Chicken or Pork — Onions, cilantro, Cotija cheese, red chili salsa, avocado verde salsa) — I had one with steak and one with pork The flavour of the tacos and the burrito was pretty good. The ingredients seemed fresh. The meats were tender and relatively flavourful. I will say though there wasn’t that much flavour variation between the chicken, pork, and steak. The food was neatly prepared. The burrito held together during the typical peel and eat. But, while the food taste good, it was cold. The tortillas were cold. The meat was cold. The toppings(some of which should be) were cold. Cold Mexican food just isn’t worth a cheap sombrero. I am just not sure why the food was cold. It seems like if it is pulled together to order it would come out at least mildly warm. Chips and Salsa — The chips were the only part of the meal served warm. These were pretty basic chips and salsa. But they did the trick. Receipt: Oh I didn’t have one. It was just a tad too much effort. But my large dinner for one came in at somewhere between $ 17 and $ 18. Overall — I just can’t give cold Mexican food a thumbs up. Plus, the service fell just a tad short. I guess if there is a strong hankerin’ for a burrito involved, High Tech Burrito will work in a pinch. But I would be mighty tempted to walk across the parking lot to Chipotle where they serve their food hot.

Refused to honor the Unilocal discount repeatedly. 6pm 2÷2÷15 female cashier with ponytail. Will take my business elsewhere.
