I was so bummed out when the Originally Bobby’s Café burnt down. It was the very first restaurant my family ate at when we moved to Marin. It was a nice little café with decent food and right on the marina. Every weekend I would ride my bike there with my friends. So I guess the old place just brings back good memories of muggy summer nights, sipping lemonade and eating right on the marina. I would have given the Old Bobby’s 4 stars, maybe 5. This one just doesn’t have the charm. It’s no longer my local neighborhood diner. I don’t have any connection to this new location. But that’s not their fault. *Sigh*

BLEH! The food was awful! We ordered french toast, pancakes, eggs and hashbrowns. the French toast was by far the WORST! It tasted like bread dipped in egg and served. It was soggy, tasteless and mushy. The syrup tasted like sugar syrup. It seemed as though it had never met artificial maple flavoring, let along a real maple tree. gross, gross gross!!! the pancakes we OK at best, but again, the syrup was blech The eggs tasted like they were from a carton rather than a shell, over salted and undercooked. Bottom line? Skip this place. Take a few extra minutes and drive to delicious Half Day Café in San Anselmo.

The personnel is very friendly and pricing is affordable. This place however, needs to be cleaned up. My kids love this place and this is why we go there and why I give two stars.

Meh. Granted, I have no nostalgia for the«old place» like some of the reviewers do. I only have what my lunch just told me. I ordered the tuna melt with fries… I was told that they just had a fire in their deep fryer. so there was nothing fried available. I could have cole slaw or macaroni salad. I asked if the cole slaw was good, told it was, and I gave it a whirl. Well, the sandwich was really not the best at all. Probably one of the worst tuna melts i’ve had, and the cole slaw had something like pineapples in there. i dunno, it just wasn’t worth the $ 9.75 they charged me. YMMV, but I’m not going back. :(

Based on previous reviews I was very excited to try Bobby’s for breakfast. Sadly that excitement was quickly dashed once the food arrived. I had the fresh strawberry pancakes and the flavor was just flat out wrong, the strawberries tasted rotten. Granted it was the end of the season but if you can’t get quality fresh ingredients just leave it off the menu. My dining partner had a basic egg dish which showed up cold, with only 2 other dinners in the restaurant. I will say that our server was very nice but that couldn’t make up for the food or the décor which is also lacking. With all of the breakfast joints in the area, for us Bobby’s is a scratch.

LOVELOVELOVE Bobby’s café! Note, i’ve only had breakfast but lets be real– Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, right? Bobby’s nails it! I’ve had the strawberry-stuffed-pancakes twice now, with apple sausage on the side. My husband SWEARS by the eggs benedict on Sundays. The corned beef hash was also super tasty. The staff were nice, always quick to refill and helpful when making selections. why minus one star? I wish I could just use my debit card. I do appreciate them having a ATM in the back– quite useful. while my bank doesn’t charge me ATM fees– a lot of my friends banks do, so its a bother. I actually wish i could just remove a ½ star. not 1 full one for that issue alone. Still a fantastic place that I will continue to go to, and to bring swarms of friends there too!

This is a really good place. You get large portions of tasty American food at moderate prices. The patty melt is the best in Marin. The owners Helen and Bobby(mother and son) are genuinely nice people who make the dining experience a pleasure. Check this place out. You won’t be disappointed.

Eh… I ate here during Summer Fun Day yesterday and Eh… Is the best I can come up with to describe the food here. The staff are beyond friendly, and I like that they even have an ATM in the back, but as far as the food, which I tried here — consisting of a chicken apple sausage on a hot-dog roll with some relish and mustard — it was mediocre at best. At best. Later, I stopped by for some«fresh» orange juice, which apparently means Tropicana carton poured orange juice. It sounds like breakfast is the meal to try here, so I wouldn’t necessarily swear off another visit Bobby’s. That being said — I speed walk everywhere(it’s just part of my fast nature) and I’d probably slow down my walk when nearing here. I feel like there are better places around for breakfast and lunch.

I went for breakfast early this morning with my mother and sister… non of us had been there before. The food and service was great!!! I had my traditional omelet with bacon and cheddar cheese, hash browns, and English muffin. The omelet was loaded and was only able to eat ½. My dog who I am a food slave to anyways… got the rest when I arrived home… he gave it two paws up too. I also like hash browns that are shredded potatoes… its hard to find those anymore and they did them just perfect crispy on the outside and a little soft on the inside. If you don’t want potatoes(I personally suggest you start taking Prozac cause you must be depressed or something) they do offer sliced, very fresh tomatoes that have been baked with cheese on top… Yum… they looked really good, my sister had those. Our waitress was spot on with service, keeping our coffee and water glass full… I know business has been tuff for them because of all the construction that was being done in the area… Tomorrow in case you don’t already know there is going to be a street fair at the West end of 4h street and they have a lot of fun things planned for families, kids, and adults too… so maybe tomorrow would be a good time to check them out. They have a pretty extensive menu.

My friend told me about Bobby’s. I like that it opens at 7am. The sign says 8am, but that’s changed. Basic friendly, good, easy to park, smiles…

This café is exactly what it sells itself as. A small local café with great atmosphere and decorations with great food. Yes, great food. Everything I have had(bkfst and lunch) I have loved. No dinner yet. The joint is run very well by Bobby and his mom. It shows. A rear deck overlooking the bushy area outback would be a welcome space addition and give some outside seating on the really great days. Try it, you will go back.

With all due respect Christine K, you need to take a HUGE chill pill! …Whether or not you’ve been in the food business 15 years or 5 weeks, whenever you suffer a huge tremendous setback such as the fire that happened to them in the old location in Loch Lomond Marina, starting anew is always a very painful, laborious and slow process. This includes getting the kitchen, wait staff, food preparation and whatever pieces of the puzzle together just right. Knowing Helen and Bobby the way I do(and I’ve known the both of them for well over 14 years) they would have come over if you just called them over and showed them that the pancakes were overcooked. They would have made you a fresh batch within minutes to your liking, no doubt. If all you can do Christine is bitch about bacon, soup and other piddly shit, perhaps you’d be better served @ one of those fancy Marin spots where they charge you out the wazoo for the same type of foods using some of the same pre-prepared items on fancier plates with less portions. As for me and my friends and family, We’re sticking with Bobby’s!

We were fans of Bobby’s before the fire, and we’re fans of Bobby’s in its current incarnation. True, they’re no longer have Loch Lomond Marina«ambiance», but the café itself is far superior than before. We’ve eaten at the«new» Bobby’s several times for weekend brunch, and it’s always been excellent. Can’t wait until they open up the rear deck!

I’d give two thumbs up for the club sandwich I had. It came with delicious potato salad. Everything was deeeeelicious. While I find a lot of Marin food bland, this is an exception.

Soo I have to agree with… It did take a minute to get started. Remember people there place burned down… I once again have not had a bad meal. Saturday Piccata is the bomb(still though doesnt beat there tuesday enchiladas) They now take ATM which is awesome, and for those of you who drink next door at pint size, well including the pint size owner they are bringing food from bobby’s to the bar. They have a menu there. I suggest on the weekends get there either early or late, it get’s packed. And as for the french toast, it is on the menu. I had it the other day. O and the owner is Bobby a dude.

The Review was done right after they opened and there was a struggle to get it going, I would give them another shot now that they’ve been open a while. Whenever I go there it’s wonderful but i am a Dinner type a person so I can’t comment about the breakfast. I will go there this weekend and try the breakfast with my kids, they get excited when they hear Bobby’s is on the menu.

With all due respect to the loyal folks who loved Bobby’s at it’s original location at Loch Lomond, I just ate at the new location on Fourth and it was AWFUL. And it’s not just growing pains in their new location.(see * below) Living a few blocks away, we really wanted to love this place. I take pride in using local mom and pop shops, but I will never go back to Bobby’s. Here are my reasons: — inattentive service. Wait to be waited on, never asked how our food was, waited for our check, then waited some more after we got the wrong check. Did the waitress(owner?) not see that our food was barely touched? When we complained about the pancakes being burned(BLACK), her reply was«you should have told me» — why? so she could make more of the same? Could she not bother to stop by the table and ASK how our meal was before handing us the(wrong) check? — The food itself was poor quality. I know because the food was delivered while we were there: much is pre-made, including their soup. Pancakes tasted like they were made from a «just add water» mix. No flavor. Not to mention, they were completely burned on one side. :-(No excuse for this at a mom and pop — especially when Teresa and Johnny’s on Fourth serves up tasty cakes just 8 blocks down the road. Bacon was very low quality — what I refer to as «government bacon» — lots of fat, not a lot of meat. Poor taste. A few more thoughts: — Maybe this is more of a burger joint? — Customers referenced their«amazing» french toast on the Unilocal page for their original location, but they weren’t on the menu at the Fourth Street location. * While I understand the location is new, they have been doing this for 16 years, so it’s not a matter of growing pains.
