Trucks n Toys

a very late review.
Happy to hear there will be another one of these events in the upcoming months! Donate a toy for admission into the event!!! This was truly a great find, as there were quite a few great trucks and it wasn’t very crowded at all… I met up with several of my Southbay buddies and it was a great way to spend the afternoon as we shared many eats from several trucks.
Memorable ones were Grill Em All, Ludo, Tapaboy, KO Tacos, and Autocreamery (which had cute little frozen treats in a fruit shell served off a cool oldschool car!)

Food Trucks in Pedro??? You mean the town «Where the Ghetto Meets the Sea»? Just quoting Hugo C’s List but I’m allowed knock the P-​House bc I grew up there. The tiny town of San Pedro even got the heavy hitters in the Food Truck world such as GeA (Grill Em All) Ludo, KO Taco and Greasy Wiener.
Bring a new unwrapped toy for a good cause (SP Boys and Girls Club and Urband Born), eat at trucks, listen to music spinning by the DJ and spend a few hours in the winter sun by the sea!
Parking was easy and free! Admission was free! Eats were plentiful as there was a great line up of food trucks! Tapa Boy, Sugar Babies, Oh For Sweets Sake, Tropical Shave Ice, Vizzi, The Green Truck, Lomo Arigato, Dim Sum Truck plus the above heavy hitters to name a few.
Just a few suggestions for the next one
— spread out the tables. There was a lot of space so things could be spread out but the tables were so close together and when people were sitting in the chairs they were pretty much back to back
— lots of trash cans available but no recycling bins for all those bottle bevies and canned sodas the trucks sell.):
If all food truck events were in my hood and easy breezy I would go to them all! Looking forward to the next one. I hear its in February.

The hub and I dropped by this event early (11:09 to be exact) to avoid the lines and get some grub to take over to the in-​laws.
We took a Transformer and Bionicle toy for the toy drive, two of the trash can sized boxes were already filled so it looked like a good start to the event! Now that I see Jenn G’s post though… poo…I didn’t get the bag of candy (although the girl that took our gifts was tying the bags of candy up herself…)
The line for GrillEmAll was very long already so the hub jumped in line, and I headed over to scope out the rest of the trucks. Since we’d tried most of the trucks there we only planned to hit GEA and Sugar Babies, but of course we ended up spending all the cash we had on at least 7 of the trucks (old fave Lomo Arigato, and I had to get Ludo’s chicken balls again. there was no line yet!)
Great event for a great cause on an unseasonably warm December morning. Sorry to have missed out on meeting Lucy Y. and Ciara G., we’ll meet someday! ^_^

On this surprisingly warm (winter?) day, a group of us Unilocalers got together for some food truck foraging and to donate toys to the Boys and Girls Club of San Pedro. That means warm fuzzy feelings in our tummies AND our hearts!
Unfortunately The Comfort Truck ended up changing schedules the day before, because I would have liked to try them — and Nana Queen’s wasn’t there (at least before 2-​ish, when we left). But the crowd-​free atmosphere was so mellow that doing an early lunch here was a real pleasure!
Seeing some of my fave Unilocalsters — Ciara G, Isabel F, Hugo C, Michelle T, Tony S, and Jenn G — and sharing yummies with them — made this event even more fun!

I don’t know what the crowd looked like at 6pm when the event was scheduled to end, but when we arrived around 11am — it was GREAT!
* Parking was super easy in the open lot closest to the trucks.
* There were tables set up with tablecloths and lots of trash receptacles. * The trucks were spaced far enough apart to not let lines run into each other (if it got that busy).
The venue was in full sun on this warm day, so I baked a little — but there was shade to be had a short walk away near the waterline.
If all food truck events were like this, I’d go to more of them :).

What a fun and great event! I just came from the 1^st Annual Trucks N’ Toys event in San Pedro. It was a nice event that brought food lovers and food trucks together for a good cause. Folks attending had the chance to bring a toy that would be given to the Boys and Girls Club of San Pedro and Urband Born.
I brought a little Good Luck Care Bear — with the hope to bring some holiday cheer and show a little kid that someone cares out there. I hope it brings them a little luck too. There was a booth at the middle of the event that you drop the toys off and they gave a little bag of candy treats to each that brought a toy.
There were several food trucks there and I wasn’t sure which food truck to go to but the longest line was the Grill Em All Truck and that was the truck that my Unilocal friends recommended. It therefore became the chosen food truck that my friends and I went to. I also got to try the Boba Truck and two cupcakes truck (Oh for Sweets Sake and SugarBabies) :). I wanted to try more food trucks but I was way too full after the Grill Em All truck. Hmm it just means that my friends and I will need to go to more food truck events hehe to try out the other stuff. I definitely know I want to try the red velvet flan from the White Rabbit Truck one day.

Not only was this a great event for a great cause, it was also the event where I finally got to meet my cool Unilocal friends: Michelle T., Tony S., Ciara G., Lucy Y., Hugo C. and Isabel F :). Yay! It was so nice to finally meet them :).
