While visiting the Harmonic life chiropractor in San Pedro, I heard Tamales! Tamales! I love tamales so I ordered two tamales, chicken and rajas(cheese with Jalapeños). Not going to lie I had better, but they were nice in proportion and they weren’t dry! Nothing more upsetting then a dried up tamale! Haha. I would rate these more at 3.5. The Rajas tamales were Exceptional, hard to find a Rajas tamale that is terrible. Chicken could use more of a kick maybe add more zest to the sauce, like a nice Spicy kick! Would I ever want to snack on these while in Pedro again?, hmm… sure but only the Rajas.

The pork tamales are my favorite but the chicken are also tasty. Nothing compares to my mom’s tamales but these are pretty darn close.

Dirty, i wouldnt buy anything off the street like this. I seen this guy spill his food on the street and put it back in the cooler or whatever he uses to store the food. Disghusting.

I have had much tastier home-made tamales for sale at a bar back in new york… these remind me of the ones you get at the mexican grocery store. Generic and kind of blah. With a little more planning and some better ingredients. these guys have a winning formula. In my opinion. the more variety the better. not everybody likes raisins and Chile mixed in with cheese and corn tamales. As for yelling ‘tamale!tamale!’ At 7am in the morning. that seems self defeating. Aside from annoying people who are still in bed. whats it accomplish? Who eats these things for breakfast? Tamales are a lunch. dinner. when your drunk .kind of food. Still. being able to buy Tamales on the street is one of the few perks of San Pedro. just think it could be done better with minimal effort.

I have to review, lol. Everytime my husband hears the tamale man he runs out the door to return with a smile and at least one tamale in hand. Just recently he heard the tamale man so far away and jumped on his bike to find him.

Lol! I fell over when I saw the tamale man had his own Unilocal page. I will say the tamales are bomb! I don’t ever EVER buy tamales(or any food) from someone pushing a cooler but I threw caution to the wind and went with it, so glad I did these tamales are so good. They are filled up, not scrawny like some restaurants. I always get happy when I spot him on my block(lol!)

Can’t beat not leaving your house and enjoy great tasting tamales. Yes it’s sketch to get food from a guy walking around pulling a cooler filled with food, but it’s great tasting food so don’t sweat it. Knock on wood nobody I know has gotten air off his stuff. I get the chicken most of the time just because that’s my preference. The cheese are a bit cheesy to me so I stick to the chicken. It’s a 1.25 or a 1.50 per tamale but I usually get a dozen and either freeze them or give to my parents. You can’t miss the guy and if you do you’re missing out. Less hassle having to make them. Only con I’d say I’d they are(are times) a bit oily, just pat it off and you’re good to go.

What happened to the sweet tamales? I think they were pineapple and sugar. Those were my favorite. But now, I’ve been getting the cheese and chicken ones, and I must say that his wife makes the best tamales! I had the chance to speak with him in spanish a few months back and he told me his story: about immigrating here, his wife knowing some«secret latin» tamale recipe, and how he’s been doing this for 8+ years. I always support him and at $ 1 a piece, you can’t go wrong. They freeze really well too, so it’s totally fine to stock up. There is nothing like hearing him from across the street to brighten your day.

Oh my goodness. I just tried his cheese ones that are hot, spicy, and freaking delicious. I’ve been craving these yummy amaziness for several months now, and it never disappoints. He comes around 9−11AMish on Saturdays around 1st Street & Parker… so if you haven’t heard his tamale call yet, try around that time.

OMG! My mother loved them! And she never likes anyone else’s food, especially someone else’s tamales! Her only complaint was that they were small. But that’s a plus in my book. This guy had chicken, beef, pork, cheese, and pineapple-raisin. All delicious!

My hubby and I were up early for the Lunar Eclipse last weekend, and ended up just driving around town. We saw the Tamale Guy talking to a lady on the street, so we did what anyone else would do, which is flip a bitch and yell TAMALES!!! at him. SODELICIOUS. ANDONLY $ 1.

I always heard this guy going down the street, but after looking for reviews for stuff to do in San Pedro and seeing«Tamale Guy» on Unilocal I knew I had to try! And boy did he not disappoint! I bought mines from the red cooler guy who goes around Alma Market. I got a cheese and chicken one, and after I sampled them I immediately got into my car to try to find him! Am I kidding? I wish I was! The cheese isn’t too spicy, the chicken one was very flavorful/a litte spicy, and the beef was heaven. I never had a beef tamale, and I’m glad they didn’t use that stringy beef. I have my money near the door so whenever he comes I can get to him without having to chase him down in my car!
