The taste of food I give 3.5 stars. The food are good but all the dishes I ordered(san bei chicken, lobster over spinach and a seafood soup) somehow all manage to have the spices overpower the natural taste of the food. I am not sure what it is but just felt the spices didn’t compliment the lobster or chicken, rather it was like trying to cover it up. Service I give 5 stars. Waiters were attentive and the owner offered to give me more red bean desert soup because I liked it. Overall worth trying, but I think I will try other seafood place now for a better taste.

Only«checked in» here 1 time, but I’ve been here at least 4 – 5 times with my boyfriend and his fam. The prices are pretty reasonable, about $ 10 for a huge dish. My all time favorite is the spare ribs(pork). Its coated with a sweet tangy sauce. Seriously my fave. I could probably finish the whole dish by myself even though I’m not really a fan of pork. Some other faves are the walnut prawns and salt and pepper flounder.

I have been to this restaurant a couple of times and I have been very disappointed every time. The food seems to be good but they always bring the rice at last. I really enjoy eating the rice before or together with other dishes so it is not a good experience waiting for the rice to come. Every time I went there I felt a little sick in my stomach so I am definitely not going ever again. However, the WORSE part is customer service. All workers are rude, always on a rush and never care to ask if customers need anything. Also, they throw dishes and beverage in front of customers with no care and just walk away. Customer service is one of the most important aspect of a restaurant business. If they do not treat customers with a little respect, they cannot expect people are coming eating there again. Do not recommend at all!

I had a bad experience with the service here. So unfortunately, I won’t be coming back. After I placed my orders, the waiter insisted us to order their soup — — - told me that is what they specialize and that it would only cost me few bucks for it. The soup he brought to me was something similar to what other restaurants give you for free — and the«few bucks» was actually $ 9. There was nothing special about the soup except its price. I felt cheated. Other dishes were just okay. There was a long gap of time between dishes arrive. I won’t be giving this place another chance.

We were recommended Yummy World by a friend and we chose this restaurant for a large get together of some old friends. There was 20 of us and we took two large tables. Since Yummy World is not that big there was only one extra large table and 3 medium sized round tables. It was a squeeze but since all of us were such old friends the company, wine and booze drowned out any cramped feelings. Between the two tables we pretty much ordered every item on the picture menu. We even swapped dishes back and forth. The most memorable dishes were the deep fried flounder, salty egg vegetables, salt and pepper pork tofu and squid, pork belly and the dry garlic chicken. The crabs salt and pepper and ginger scallion were just so so. Yummy world is a normal occasion restaurant. Their menu and facilities are not geared for large groups or banquets. The staff was overwhelmed with the sudden rush, but since we were there till almost closing we barely noticed how long the Kitchen was taking. The food was good. The décor is so much better, since it was a Hot Pot place years ago. And the best of all is the value and price.

It’s a very well decorated restaurant. We went on a thursday night and got a table quickly. All the food coming out of the kitchen including what we had, crispy skin chicken and honey walnut shrimp, among others, was tasty. I would definitely go there again to try more of the food. The service was fine for us compared to some of the other reviews. The parking I can see being an issue on a different night, but we parked on a side street nearby.

Food — 4 stars Service — 1 star Parking — 1 star Overall — 2 stars The food is pretty good. it’s not overly greasy like most Chinese restaurants and the restaurant itself isn’t nasty looking either. I don’t have a favorite dish or anything here since I’ve only been here a handful of times, but everything did taste pretty good. OKAY… now on to the rant. First of all, PARKING… or should I say, lack of parking! They don’t have a real parking lot here. You either get lucky and find an empty spot by the restaurant on the busy El Camino street or you turn in to the park where there definitely needs new pavement and hope to find parking there. In my opinion, this is the perfect place to get robbed. SERVICE… or should I say, lack of service! I don’t expect much from a Chinese restaurant, but their service is HORRIBLE!!! I think they’ll fare better being a self serve Chinese restaurant or something. Here are some examples of their horrible service: 1) The husband was doing them a favor and tried to clear the lazy susan a little so that they can put more food on there. He was grabbing the last piece of something from a dish and was about to put sauce on it and they just grabbed everything and took it away. 2) Also, the husband was trying to help the out(again) by emptying the large soup bowl so they had more space to put a new dish. After he clearly emptied it and a worker saw it, they just left it there. So, the husband had to take the empty bowl and put it on an empty table next to us and then they conveniently saw it and took it away. 3) Our party had 17 people. At the end, we asked if we could have half red bean dessert and half fortune cookies(for the kids). They said«no», it was either one or the other. SERIOUSLY!!! That was a lame-o move… Anyway, when our red bean dessert arrived, the husband went up to one of the workers and asked if he could have some fortune cookies. It must’ve been a different server because this one let him take as much as he wanted to. Chinese restaurants seriously have to learn how to treat their customers better. I’m not expecting stellar service like Gary Danko or anything, but perhaps you should clear the tables and acknowledge your patrons every once in a while. Just sayin’…

The service at this place is just downright unacceptable. We ordered takeout a few times with no issues but the last time we ordered the woman got confused and messed up our order. Instead of apologizing and offering to get us the right dishes she just decided to argue with us that we didn’t order right. Even if that was the case, I was always under the assumption that with good customer service the customer is always right. It is unfortunate because the food was fairly good. Their string bean dishes are excellent and this is one of the best places to get them. The food was not good enough to justify eating at a place where no respect is given to the customer. There are enough good Chinese restaurants in the area that can have our business.

Woah. A clean, modern Chinese restaurant? I can’t believe I’m the last of my family members to finally try this place. My mom and I ordered the Salted Egg Yolk and Frog, Braised String Beans, and the Eggplant and Fish Claypot I am INLOVE with the frog dish! I always order this at Chinese restaurants and have to say, Yummy World makes it the best. Most places add fillers, like pumpkin, or chop up the frog into minuscule pieces and then slather it with way too much fried batter. But it was perfect here. For under $ 13, the amount of large, juicy frog chunks they give you is ridiculous. I was in heaven and ate the crap outta that dish. Also, turns out we ordered the last frog! A larger table had ordered it too but the waitress gave the dish to us since we had made reservations that day. Boo yah! So if you plan on ordering this dish(or any frog dish for that matter) make reservations and call in advance to make sure they have it that day! Braised green beans were pretty good. Savory with a nice crunch. I liked the bits of minced pork too. Still, it can’t compete with San Tung’s. But the leftovers were still good! The sauce over rice is deeeelicious. The clay pot dish was the least impressive dish of the bunch. There was nothing wrong with it, but nothing particularly special about it either. It did have a ton of fish fillets though. Even more than the eggplant and bell pepper! Next time, I’m ordering the soup. Mama L says Yummy World always makes it well here and I noticed every table had ordered a bowl.

I came in wanting soup and ended up defaulting to Chinese fried chicken. Things That Were Awesome: +++Family style services. Eat as much or as little as you want. Definitely come in as a group for this restaurant. +++Fried Chicken and Garlic. Seriously order this and some rice and you are set for dinner. It is definitely a ‘dry’ style, so it isn’t covered in sauce. A little salty but not enough to make me turn it down. Add the fried garlic to your rice for extra delicious. +++Eggplant hotpot. Cooked Chinese eggplant dishes are another of my weaknesses. While Yummy World’s eggplant hotpot isn’t spicy, it is cooked right. There was a touch of ginger at the end that I liked. Different from the usual ‘throw chili flakes in there’ formula. Things That Were Not So Awesome: —Vegetable fried rice. Bland. Maybe because it wasn’t a featured dish? Could use an extra… something. Can’t put my finger on it. If downtown San Mateo is a bit too boring or hectic for you check this place out. It’s a nice change of pace from what you get up the street. Fried chicken!

Is it yummy? For a place like this, it definitely is. I grabbed the Dry Chicken, and I can attest to the fact that it is dry. And it is also delicious with the bits of garlic thrown around. I also ordered eggplant over minced pork in a clay pot, which was lovely to have on the pot as it was to have for leftovers the following morning. I was pleasantly surprised by the décor compared to most other Chinese restaurants around the area. Would definitely go back!

I’ve actually had two solid experiences here. Once for takeout(when they just opened) and once recently for lunch. most recently met a friend and we shared –Braised string beans –House special pork chop with vinegar, rock candy(sweet&sour) –Beef with XO Chili sauce –Black pepper chicken now this was a ton of food and the waiter was thinking we ordered way too much. But we managed to dust off just about everything. I guess not having had dinner the night before helped out(that’s a long story). The inside is way nicer than the outside is. This section of San Mateo is definitely strip mall left in the 70’s and run down. The décor is somewhat upscale, nice wooden furniture, and an open kitchen which you dont often see of Chinese joints. Management and wait staff were also pretty good so I think this place is a solid.

Came here again last night for my dad’s bday and we ordered the $ 109 set menu and it was so delicious!!! It had such a good variety of foods such as walnut shrimp, crab, fish, pork belly, veggies, chicken, and much much more! Usually set menus have the same food over and over again but not this set menu. I highly recommend it! We had 8 people and we were absolutely stuffed afterwards! The food comes out really quickly and the crab and fish were really really fresh! I also love their little fried garlic chips! So addicting! **There is also a small parking lot in the back of the restaurant!

Came here for family CNY eve dinner. It was nice to go to a different Chinese restaurant for a change. I was impressed with the modern décor and cleanliness when I walked in. Service was friendly. The food came out pretty fast, but the dishes were pretty small portion or maybe it was considered«just right» compared to other Chinese restaurants as there was no seconds for anyone(our table was a group of 10). At least the food came out hot and everything was seasoned well. My favorites were the Honey Walnut Prawns and the Salt and Pepper Fried Flounder. Parking sucks so get there early. You’ll most likely need to find street parking.

okay, the name does not lie, this place is pretty yummy. Yummy world is located right next to silver house, so the first time i came here i couldn’t decide which one to go to. i chose yummy world because it looked a little friendlier for an ABC like me [silver house looked like i’d have to eat their with my parents]. for chinese food, this place is reasonably priced and they offer a wide array of chinese dishes. i’ve never dine in here, but gotten take out multiple times. the workers here are so kind and they always offer suggestions if you’re unsure of what to get. i recommend: 1. fish congee 2. fried calamari 3. honey walnut prawns 4. fried noodles there’s plenty of parking in the area and i usually go next door to the comic book place while waiting for my food.

Who would have thought there are two good Cantonese restaurants so close to each other. I am a big fan of Silver House next door. On a late afternoon when Silver House wasn’t open for business, I ventured into Yummy World. The food here is quite good. The style is very authentic but not old school classic like Silver House. You have to try their Steam Chicken with Ginger, Scallion & Chilli. It was really good. Flavors were wonderful and even the breast pieces were very tender and moist. Shrimp Egg Fu Yong was a bit salty. You have to eat it with rice. Braised Eggplants and Frog dish was alright. I was disappointed there weren’t more frog meat in it. Food might not be as spectacular as Silver House but still a great place to grab some quick bite or take out. The décor is more modern and usually not as crowded. Price is very competitive too. Next time I might try their special $ 7.95 per entrée to-go menu.

I found two gems on one block. First one was yesterday(Silver House, check review). Second one is this one, Yummy World! I don’t know about the previous reviews of those in July of last yr. But I’m a happy customer. I came in today @ 12 ish. Not packed nor busy. I sat down and ordered the food. Came in about 5 mins. Soup first, then rice dish! for 6 bucks a pop during lunch w/free soup why not! am I satify? hell yes! Ordered: — Scrambled Eggs w/Prawns — Curry chicken — Brocolli Fish — Shredded pork w/Tofu. Not a huge complaint, but I guess i should have asked them if they serve on regular plate and have the rice separate. This means I can share with people at my table! But who knows, they probably wouldn’t allow anyways.

Found this place on Unilocal and due to all the great reviews, had to come by and check it out! It’s literally two storefront’s down from Silver House! Called in for take-out and the owner’s wife picked up and was patient and courteous! Spare Rib Chow Fun w/Black Bean Sauce — $ 6.95 — Huge Portions — Decent portion of spare ribs — Chow Fun was pretty fresh Apparently, the owners moved their restaurant from Millbrae! They have some lunch specials that seem like great value! :D Note: They accept credit cards w/no minimum! ;) Tip: They don’t have HK Milk Tea.
