I’ve only been once but I really liked it, the service was fast and attentive. I ordered on Unilocal food24 app while stuck on the San Mateo bridge a few miles away and it was ready within two minutes of my arrival. That was amazing! I got the basic falafel sandwich, I’d give it a 4. I like how it’s on a large circular pocket pita instead of wrapped like a burrito at some places. The green hot sauce has a good kick. The falafel was crispy outside soft inside– just right! Only thing was it was a touch dry would ask for a side of tahini next time.

Of all the hummus restaurants in the Bay Area, this small yet lively restaurant has stood out to be one of the tastiest. Nearly hidden behind the whole foods around the corner, this tiny shop churns out amazing hummus and pita bread. Intrigued by why the pita tastes so amazing, we spoke to one of the employees, and learned that the pita bread is imported from Israel itself! The simple yet delicious menu offers only chicken, but it still has something for everyone to love. If you are going there for the first time, make sure to try the Israeli fruit juices sold. These taste like no juices American companies can make, and are less sweet which brings out the fruit flavor. Overall, this is an amazing restaurant, with friendly employees, and delicious food!

Regularly coming here for their hummus. So good. Also, their chicken schnitzel is SOGOOD. Give it a go carnivores!

Amazing food! I lived in Israel for 8 years, and this place is the REALDEAL. Great quality, very fresh and reasonably priced. I am eager to go back asap — definitely worth a visit. Felafel plate and the schnitzel were both great

I really try not to go back to the same place twice, but I was in the area and remembered how good this place good and wanted the hummus that I couldn’t get last time because I couldn’t eat 2 meals. So I came back and got the hummus with ground beef. It’s comes with pita and it’s pretty much a meal in itself. The hummus is so smooth, the ground beef is flavorful and delicious and there’s something about that green hot sauce that is super spicy, but its SO good! Overall, I just kept ripping up my pita and scooping some beef and hummus and repeating. It’s so good! I’ll probably end up back there again.

Came here last Friday and now I understand the hype! I’ve been hearing about it from my coworkers for a while but I was always too lazy to go… even though its the same plaza and I’ve traveled further for lunch before BUT granted… the walking distance to my car is closer than walking to this place LOL(I know, I sound hella lazy right now). I got the chicken schnitzel by the plate which comes with a side of hummus, olives & pickles, a cucumber salad and… a pita bread!!! Now I will say everything was good… even the cucumber salad(surprisingly) because I don’t like cucumbers… but it was very light. It could’ve used a bit more salt BUT still mild in flavor that I didn’t mind the cucumber. Ok, now back to the pita bread!!! Can I say how wonderfully fluffy this thing is!!! I’ve never had a pita bread like this and I would definitely get an extra one the next time I go! This also brings me back to a time when my friend literally put his face on a bun because it was so warm and fluffy and I thought he was weird… but you know what… I get it now… I totally would’ve done the same with this pita…(I must apologize to him now, haha) Oh! And I forgot that delicious green hot sauce the have… it is bomb!!! It has a very nice kick and satisfies my expected level of spiciness but I wish they gave more which means next time, I’ll have to ask for extra :) Overall, this place gives a great serving of food for the price. I would definitely go back… Can’t believe I’ve been too lazy to check this place out and I’m glad I finally did!

Wonderful place near Whole Foods and the Habit Burger and Grill. I love their food! It’s inexpensive, delicious, and comes in huge portions. The guy who was working the counter at Village Hummus was very welcoming, very cheerful, and the place offers really good food. Don’t expect to leave here on an empty stomach, and $ 10 should be about all you’re spending here. The hummus is delicious, and the mushrooms I got with it savory and meaty. The pita itself is wonderfully prepared. Don’t hesitate to ask for more pita if you run out(there’s a lot of hummus, but not enough pita to spread it on).

THEBEST falafels I’ve ever had! Crunchy on the outside, soft and green-colored on the inside. How the hell do they make these so good? They’re more addictive than heroin!

I live right above village hummus and can smell their fresh cooked food every day from my balcony. Every time somebody comes over they ask me what the smell is and I inform them that they MUST try village hummus next time they are in the area. Everything here is delicious. I believed I’ve tried everything on the menu already and can vouch for it all. The schnitzel and the falafel are tied for my favorites(in a pita). The shwarma is my least favorite, which isn’t saying much because it’s also very good. I need a whole paragraph devoted to the falafel because it’s that good. It is exactly what a falafel should be: crunchy and crispy on the outside, and chewy on the inside. This place has made me a falafel snob. Nothing else will do! After having their falafel I haven’t been able to find any as good. The pita is fluffy and fresh, the hummus is one of the tastiest I’ve ever had. The food is amazing. The owner and workers here are soooo nice! Makes it a pleasure to eat there. They are friendly and were helpful in helping me decide what to order my first time there.

I’m confused. The pictures for their shawarma( Unilocal review) had meat but menu board didn’t mention any meat, so we left.

Amazeballz. I really love this place. I went back today while in town and I can def say the consistency is there. If you sneek a peek in back they actually have a machine that spits out these little balls of love instead of doing that weird yet cool hand contraption. I have bought several of the traditional hand contraptions and I can say I can’t stand them. If only I had this ball machine at my house… lol then I would def weight a million pounds! Check out my pics. These are not the cheapy parsley filled dark green balls. They are the light green balls of quality. Now compared to that overpriced trendy Sunnyvale place that has the very light yellow zero parsley Israeli type balls… these are hands down better. I mean 100% better. If you like spicy foods like I do ask for extra green spicy sauce. No it will not blow your head off with spice, it just gives the food a slight kick. Husband likes zero hot spice but he always asks for some and I trade him my pita(I can’t stand bread) for his spicy sauce. This place blows for parking, it’s in a small strip mall type side parking area across from Whole Foods but I’m sure you could go into the Whole Foods parking garage and just walk across the street. Not a big deal. Both times we have come here its been around 12:30 — 1:30 so somehow both times we scored a spot directly in front of the place. The hummus here is very nice. I like a well balanced and not sooooo oily type. Oh and believe me I love garlic, but too much in hummus makes it tingy and nasty, this one is balanced perfectly. This place is not fancy, it’s setup like a deli? type place. Start at the register and order and pay then when your order is ready they call out for you. I did see a rack of fresh pita for sale but I would love a bottle of that green sauce to take home. For a quick lunch or dinner and you are in the area… just come here and have your mouth exploded with flavor. You will thank me later. Oh and if you are making a trip to Whole Foods just swing by here prior, no one ever should go to WF’s hungry. Believe me that will cost you hundreds!

So we just got back from Israel and were looking for some real Israeli food– Village Hummus did not disappoint! Everything is truly Israeli– the pita bread is the real fluffy bread, they have cans of Israeli pickles along the wall, and there are Israeli drinks available. My husband got the classic hummus($ 7.50) with some falafel balls on the side($ 1/ea). I got the falafel plate($ 8.25). The hummus is delicious– perfectly creamy with all the right flavors. The classic hummus comes with 1.5 pieces of pita and olives and pickles. The plate comes with olives and pickles, 5 falafel balls(although I had 6), chopped salad, and 1 piece of pita. The falafel was incredibly moist inside while having a crispy outer layer. The salad was good– it had cabbage and not much tomato, so a bit different but I liked it. It was a generous quantity of food– we both left very full. The restaurant itself is small with only about 5 or 6 seating places. It was clean. We will definitely be back!

What a great little place! Reasonably priced, authentic, delicious, and simple(in a good, back-to-basics way) Israeli food. The pita in particular are fantastic — warm and fluffy and utterly stuffable. I also enjoyed the hummus beef immensely, and the falafel, which are crispy and flavorful, and the über-smoky and smooth babaganoush. Yum yum yum. More pros: service is super fast! And the employees are really nice — and very generous with the pita! Also, it didn’t hurt that I loved every single song they played during the 2 hours. Seriously, did they hack into my Spotify?! There’s not a ton of seating(most of it is bar seating against a wall, which is kinda awkward if you’re in a group), but it seems like a lot of customers get food to go, so that’s ok(we were there for like 2 hours, saw many people come and go, but few sat down to eat). I’ll absolutely be back! Oren’s deserves some good competition. ;-)

I am very glad to have this addition to the neighborhood. One thing to know is that they have a VERY limited menu, I’m talking hummus, schnitzel, shawarma, and falafel. I have been here a few times and I have actually been able to try everything they serve(and that doesn’t happen often). The ambiance: very basic, it’s not a big spot. It is very clean cut. The service: There might not be anyone at the counter when you walk in, but someone will eventually come out to greet you. The owner is very nice, enthusiastic and extremely warm. And finally… The food: I really like the shawarma, it is very flavorful and filling. However, the sauce can be overwhelming for some. The pita bread here is unreal. It is so good that you should be careful. For the times I have come, the pita bread has been warm and fluffy. The schnitzel is just breaded chicken. Also very good, reminds me of Japanese chicken Katsu. The falafel is not bad, but I prefer the meat courses. And last but not least: the hummus! Okay, you should probably give it a try(especially since the name of the place is Village Hummus so the hummus must be good right?). I really liked the hummus with ground beef. Really good for a light meal or as an appetizer!

Great hummus and fluffy pita! The hummus w/fava beans was fantastic. Especially with a side of hot sauce. The falafel wrap is also quite good. This is a great place for vegetarians! I’m looking forward to trying a few other dishes!

Really solid restaurant and nice people. I had the Village Maze plate and my wife had the Schnitzel. The hummus, babaganoush, and pita bread were excellent and the falafels were very good. The hummus was nice and creamy and the baba was smooth and smokey, just the way I like it. The chopped salad was just okay. My wife enjoyed her schnitzel. We will be back. Next time I may focus on one of the hummus plates.

Village Hummus is a newcomer to the hummus game, but they have the best hummus I’ve had outside of Israel(and on par with Oren’s Hummus Shop). My friends and I stopped by for a late lunch on a Saturday shortly after they opened, and t –Shwarma on a Plate(Served w/Fresh Chopped Salad, Pickles, Hummus & Tahini, Lemon Relish, Fresh Baked Pita, $ 10.25, ): The chicken shwarma wasn’t bad, but the chicken was a little on the dry side and I wasn’t the biggest fan of the seasoning. I did love the fresh chopped salad, hummus, and pickles though, and the pita was soft, fluffy, and amazing. However, I probably wouldn’t get the chicken shwarma again. –Village Maze(Hummus & Tahini, Eggplant Dip, 5 Falafel Balls, Fresh Chopped Salad, Pickles, Lemon Relish, Fresh Baked Pita, $ 9.95, ): Again, the pita was AMAZING– some of the best pita I’ve had in the US. The hummus was very good, and I liked the eggplant dip, but it was too smoky for some of my friends. The falafel balls were amazing though– super crispy on the outside but fluffy on the inside, and seasoned perfectly. They guys working here seemed really nice/friendly, and I hope to be back for more pita, hummus, and falafel! There are a couple of tables and some counter seating, but there aren’t a ton of spots to dine in. Parking can be difficult during the weekends since there isn’t a ton of parking nearby Village Hummus, but there is more parking on the Whole Foods side(although it gets busy on this side).

Village Hummus can be a bit tricky to find, if you don’t know where to look. I had assumed it was in the Whole Foods plaza, but it’s actually on the corner next to Starbucks(even harder to find at night, fair warning). A big thank you to the owner who let us still place our order even though we showed up one minute after they had officially closed! THEHIGHLIGHTS. + Very fast, polite, prompt, and overall fantastic customer service + Small menu, but what they do sell, they do extremely well + Delicious hummus, shwarma, and spicy sauce ~ Small servings considering the price(not outrageously small, just smaller than you’d expect) (Side note: I’m a little surprised how this place has SO many 5 star reviews. Don’t get me wrong, I had a very good experience here. I may be biased, because I reserve 5 stars usually for the most mind-blowing/fancy dining experiences. Oh well, just a comment)

2 words on VH: f-ing awesome. Pros: — I only order the Falafel on a Plate each time I go to VH. The falafel is on point each and every time… crispy on the outside, soft and flavorful in the inside. The pita bread… damn. It is so soft and fluffy… if i didn’t care so much about my weight, I’d eat 5 of them in one sitting. The hummus… wtf! It is authentically well-made: fresh and creamy. ANDTHEN, the green sauce of death. This provide a wonderful kick to the entire meal. F-ing brilliant. The chopped salad, pickles and olives are ok… I’m not really wild about it but eaten together with the falafel and bread taste better than by itself. — service is consistently pleasant. — clean interior Cons: — ???

Welcome to the neighborhood! Village Hummus makes amazing hummus! This is a fact, but what sets this place apart is the attention to detail and the excellent customer service. From the minute I walked in I could tell that they take pride in their craft and make every effort that whatever you order will exceed your expectations. The hummus is creamy and seriously is mouth watering. I cannot wait to make a return visit and try even more of their delicious sounding menu options.
