The cover of my boat was ripped at one side. I brought it in to get it fixed. He first said he would not have the same color in stock, but once I picked it up it was all grey as the rest of the original cover color. Well done! I was also really pleased with the quality and the craftsmanship.

Great work at a great price along with a friendly smile. Doesn’t get any better. I brought my FJ sail in and they got it done in just a few days and I’m sure the repair will out live the sail.

Joe did an excellent job repairing my main sail and two of my jibs. I sail fast(could be argued) and often. In the Bay’s strong winds, my sails get beat up. Last week my main split from leach to luff when I was out in winds stronger than I should have been sailing in. I looked up at that sad and broken sail and thought: «Damn, that’s going to cost a lot.» But I was wrong!(And rarely do I ever say that. Because let’s face it, mostly I’m right.) A fellow sailor recommended Joe at Leading Edge Sails and Unilocalers agreed! Joe was professional(returned calls promptly), friendly, and did an amazing job at a great price. Not only did Joe get done with my sails on time, it was slightly less than the quoted price! When does that happen? With Leading Edge Sails it was all smooth sailing. So grab some new sails(or repair your old ones) and splash your boat! Summer is here, what are you waiting for?

Joe also repairs windsurf sails. I have brought him many sails(personal equipment and CSC club sails) and he has always done a great job even going as far as regluing the decoration on one of my sails. He has enough of an understanding on how sails are made to recreate the shape of the sail.

I haven’t had Joe make new sails for me yet, but he has kept the suit I have now well maintained. Sailing out of Coyote Point can be hard on your sails in the summer since it is so windy. When ever anything needs to be fixed, Joe will repair it just in time for the next time i take my boat out. This is especially important if a race is coming up. He is a super friendly guy, and does exactly what I want him to do and doesn’t try to bs me into having more stuff done to pad the bill.

I’ve been to Joe twice to take care of my sails. He surveyed my somewhat tired main & jib, replacing a worn jib sun cover. Then a year later, he surveyed a used set I purchased, performed some re-stitching of loose areas, and patched a sail cover. I appreciate that he didn’t mind taking on smaller jobs in the middle of the many larger projects he had throughout the workshop. His prices were very fair, and he gave me a great evaluation of what I can expect from my sail inventory. He also put me in touch with an owner of a sister boat to see what I might try for my next set of sails. All his work was done exactly when he said, and he was very flexible in terms of working toward my schedule. All his work came in exactly as quoted. Couldn’t be happier!

I’ve been using Joe Rushka for my sails and sail repair for ages. He is a one man operation with an occasional apprentice from time to time when things are busy, a real craftsman and has a good eye on details of sail construction that would slide by the bigger lofts. You can always count on him doing it right as opposed to expedient solutions. All his sails are constructed with great care and the best quality thread and stitching to last a long time. Since his sail loft is just across the freeway 101 from my harbor, I’ve ordered several main sail, jibs and about 4 spinnakers from him over the years as well as any repairs from my weekend misadventures. Joe is always pleasant, accommodating and tries hard to get my sail ready for me for the weekend. Highly recommended!
