FedEx Office Print & Ship Center

I work in outside sales covering the entire Bay Area with a home office in Brookfield, Wisconsin, which makes for lots of local customized printing and lots and lots and lots of shipping.
I have seen my share of the inside of FedEx Office locations all over the Bay Area (and had my share of quarrels with the robo-​phone answering prompts on the FedEx Customer Service Hotline) and I just have to say it — this location is the best.
I come to this one every chance I can when I need anything shipped or printed… maybe even so much that they wish I wouldn’t.
BUT I CAN’T STOP!
Not when people like Arturo make ridiculous accommodations to get my prints done in a tenth of the quoted turn time. Seriously, the dude saved my meeting today. He went above and beyond on a dreary Tuesday morning to make all my printing wishes a reality. All too often the people working at the local/​store level don’t get the credit that is due — I hope that is not the case here. You best believe I completed their survey and called up everyone I could on their end to say what a positive experience I had!
The whole staff here just takes care of business in a way many locations can’t match. At many locations I have had poor experiences and interactions with management, but here everyone is on top of their game all the time.
I just had to write about this gem on 4^th… they will take care of your printing and shipping needs with exceptional speed and impressive customer service.

Slow service and staff are not very helpful… Definitely don’t have a good grasp on digital print services

Very disappointed. I used their photo machine and for some reason it enlarged the image and the 5 photos I printed were ruined but cost me $ 10. When I asked for help, the gentlemen took me through the same process I already went through and was ready to re-​print when I asked it I would be charged another $ 10 for the second batch he said yes and did not seem to care that the first batch was printed incorrectly. He didn’t give me any assurances that it would be printed correctly the 2^nd time. I have used these machines before and have not had any problems in the past. The fact that they weren’t willing to credit me for the first prints was at best disappointing.

Wow really? I ordered a big print job 2 weeks ago from the «manager», and nothing was done. No response, no call, no nothing– even after I followed up twice. Even after his employees followed up with him. Thankfully a very competent and responsible worker named Jai will be taking care of it and have it tomorrow. Thanks for caring about your job and your customer’s needs Jai.
UPDATE: after my complaints all the employees have been very helpful, understanding and doing their best to get it done.

Pretty disappointing scanning experience. I can’t speak to the service staff, since there weren’t nearly enough of them to deal with even the two or three customers who preceded me, but the self service equipment was completely lacking. I needed to scan a 9 page document and email it to myself. Didn’t think it would be complicated. It took about 5 minutes to find the right station, and then had to read through the instructions to figure out which logon to use. Because the instructions were completely unclear until I already selected a logon, I wasted 2 minutes (a couple of bucks) on the wrong logon. Had to log off and back on to access the scanner, which couldn’t handle more than one page at a time. The scanner, like the computer, was SLOW, which is fun because they charge you per minute. And to top it all off nothing worked in Firefox because their version was out of date! I had to switch over to IE, wasting more time. I ended up only scanning the most critical page, spending several bucks for almost nothing.
Word to the wise: if you need to scan something, better to take a steady picture of it with your phone and convert it to a PDF in preview or word. Way better than wasting your money here.

This location is poorly managed, and the staff do a poor job of quickly serving customers. They’re always slow, even if they have several staff members on the floor. You may have a quick errand to handle — set aside 20 minutes at least, even if it should only take 5.

First time at this store today. After being completely ignored the first few minutes in the store and asking repeatedly where I could leave my 5 prepaid boxes, the young lady finally gave me her attention. Then she proceeded to do something I’ve never seen before at any Fedex or UPS store for that matter — she weighed each box to make sure I paid appropriately, and then «shook» each box for some kind of packing verification. One box, she shook head and said it did not have enough packing material inside and for $ 4 she could give me material to open the box, put inside and reseal. She said I could not ship the box as is. I took it back, said no thanks. UPS, you just made a new customer… Stay away from this store, at least until that young lady gets some professional help.

I came in on a Sunday to photocopy, collate and staple. Incredibly frantic music was blasting from speakers. Not an atmosphere where one is trying to conduct business matters which require concentration. If music is necessary please turn volume down and choose something soothing and conducive to those trying to work or study as they use the printers and computers there. Staff is friendly. Bathroom needs toilet paper and sprucing up. It is just too nerve-​wracking with the noise level! Yikes!

Arturo was great as usual in printing what I needed. Customer service is very good. Best Kinkos around town.

This place is a joke. Given that it’s the holiday season and people are mailing and shipping a bunch of things, you would think that they would maybe add a couple of people to the staff to help out with the extra rush. But, no. They make you wait around like you’re at the post office. They won’t even acknowledge your presence in their store. Must be a bunch of minimum wage workers in there. I walked right out. Epic failures — all of them!

I waited over an hour to fax 3 papers. Customer service is ridiculous. Do not come here

Terrible service … I can to pickup a package and it took 45 min to complete… One person in front a few employees in the back chatting, Kinkos is not the same as it once was

This is the slowest location I’ve ever been to. Even if there is no one else in line you have to wait and wait for help sending your package. Last time I was here I had to leave because I’d only allotted 30 minutes before my train left and that didn’t even get me to the beginning of the shipping process.
When I came in I was the only one here. 20 minutes later they are still working on my shipping label and a long line has formed behind me.

Key word for this location: CONVENIENCE. And that is all.
On a frenzied Saturday, I was more than desperate to locate a San Mateo FedEx or FedEx Authorized ShipCenter location that offered Saturday pick-​up, so that I could have a vitally urgent package delivered by Monday afternoon. When I called to inquire whether or not they shipped on the weekend, a store associate cheerfully greeted me. I was taken aback, as I am accustomed to dialing the post office phone numbers and no one ever picks up the phone. Thank goodness I discovered this ship center location nestled in downtown San Mateo.

When I arrived at the ship center, I did not receive the same warm reception that I had over the phone. I waited in a long line, as they only have 2 staff members on shift. When I finally approached the ship center associate at the front to verify the information that I had received over the phone, she flashed a galling, phony smile and reacted in such an indolent manner that I felt really uneasy. I requested for her to consult with the gentleman next to her, because she did not even appear to know for sure if they had Saturday pick-​up. Ultimately, staff is oblivious and nonchalant towards their customers. I have visited other FedEx locations with more desirable customer service. Eh whatevs, I’ll be back only because of the weekend pick-​up service.

Typical downtown parking. Bring your pocket of change/​cash/​credit card to pay for the multi-​space meters.
Yesssir it’s true, THEY HAVE SATURDAY PICK-​UP HERE. (All caps necessary in this instance). You can now have your urgent packages conveniently shipped by Monday!

Overall, this print shop is a-​ok — it’s conveniently located and also open on weekends and longer hours than other copy shops. The lines can get long but the staff try to be helpful. I usually use the self-​help machines as those are a lot faster; if you want them to copy for you — you may have to come back in a few days. I guess it depends on how busy they are but at the point in time I needed my color copies, they said turnaround was 3 days. So, I got on a copy yourself machine and was able to do it. unfortunately the drum was dirty and left black marks on my copies. It was on a part of the page that could be trimmed so they trimmed it to compensate for the black marks. it was a nice workaround but I wish the drums were clean to begin with so there wouldn’t be ink smears on the copies!

This place is the slowest service ive ever seen. Good for self print job. If u need anything else incLuding quick coil job they are slow and lazy. Hire more ppl. Wtf.

This is an amazing copy shop! I had been to two other copy shops in SF that morning that could not handle my job. I was really impressed not only with the technical savy-​ness Jai displayed, but also his strong customer service skills (He calmed my mom down and explained his approach to her in detail.) and the store’s overall cleanliness and functionality (The work tables are stocked with rubber bands, paper clips, pencils, rulers etc. The ones in SF are empty!). We were working on printing wedding escort cards, menus etc. on thick watercolor paper and Jai didn’t let us down. They also have great paper cutters (large poster size and a 24″ one).
The number of customers ebbs and flows yielding lines that do the same, but within the hour I spent there today (as well as my previous visits when we were doing a test trial last month) things move along. I appreciate Jai’s attention to detail and was willing to wait for quality. Not all customers are though.

The most critical job role of a delivery service is getting the right shipment delivered to the correct address. How this has been unaccomplished more then once is not acceptable. We have had the wrong boxes delivered to our house multiple times. Its gotten to the point where instead of taking it back to Fed Ex, we delivery them ourselves. This morning when we called about important documents that we missed; they couldn’t even find our address. Get it together people. In an economy this bad someone should be replaced. The pictures attached are just one example.

Get cards and photos printed for games and scrapbooks. Sometimes it’s slow, but they get the job done. Prices are cheap, especially if you bring your own paper or card stock.

Worst location ever. Hands down. I ran in to print ONE 8.5×11 foam core sign (takes 10 kin to make max). I arrived at 1pm and Arturo, when speaking to me about the job, advised I couldn’t pick it up until tomorrow. He pointed to all the jobs on his desk (when I quickly scanned the due dates some of those ‘important’ jobs were not even due until two days from now. When I mentioned this he brought his associate Brynn over to take a look and she very negatively said yeah, it’s not going to be done until 6. 5 hours for one sign — really? I understand there are other jobs in the queue but the whole point of Kinkos is that there is a percentage of walkin customers which also should be taken care of.
I received eye rolls from the two associates working and they seemed glad to not take on any extra work.
I spend a LOT of money with this company and have to say they are losing a customer. I will not go back.
If you need people who will actually work this location is not for you.
Brynn and Arturo — 4^th Avenue San Mateo CA location — terrible awful customer service. Looks like you will be stuck in your dead end jobs for years to come because you won’t get anywhere in the Bay Area treating customers without care.
