I’m puerto rican and have long curly hair and in the past have limited myself to hair salons run by dominicans and puerto ricans when I want to change things up and wear my hair straight.
A few months back I decided to try this place because it is conveniently located close to home and I wanted highlights and a hair cut. I figured if the hair style was not what I wanted I could always go home wash it and style it. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the results. Love the highlights, the hair and the way she styled it straight. Since I decided this is my new hair place. Jessie is great with curly hair, she is friendly and her prices are hard to beat and her hours are very convenient. I highly recommend you try this hair salon.

I’ve been wanting to come here for a while, but just haven’t had the time. Finally my hair grew out to the point I looked like a hippie. Time to get a trim. Called up Jesse and she was able to fit me in that day. She asked me what I want and how much did I want to cut off, I just answered «make it cute.» That is exactly what she did. I put my trust into her and it was worth it. I have these amazing layers that give me volume and I like the way they frame my face.
Cost: $ 25 for wash & cut
Tip: I did $ 10
The phone is off the chain, but just roll with it. She was able to focus on my haircut and that’s what matters.

For the past 8 years I have been looking for a hair salon that would make my frizzy, coarse hair look nice. Most salons I’ve been to didn’t really cut my hair the way I wanted. I stumbled upon Connection Hair & Spa and decided to try it since it was close to home. I first went on a Saturday but wasn’t able to get my hair cut because it was busy so I decided to make an appointment for Sunday.
I went to the salon 5 minutes late for my appointment but was able to get my hair done. I have to say, I am impressed with the way she cut my hair — I think her name was Jessie, I’m not sure because I didn’t ask. I washed my hair before going there so I didn’t ask to have it washed. She did a wonderful job. I asked for layers and she took her time making sure everything looked good and even. The cut took 30 minutes and then she blow-​dried and ironed my hair for another 10 minutes and put on the finishing touches after. She did not rush the job and made my hair look really nice. My total was $ 25 for the haircut + blowdry. I loved my haircut so much I gave her a $ 10 tip. I went in looking like a lion and went out looking polished hehehe.

This place is amazing. I called about two hours before I wanted to get my hair done hoping for availability. Luckily she was able to fit me in when I wanted. I got there and there was only one other person who was there. I asked her to color and highlight my hair. At first I was a little nervous because she was only charging $ 110 for both; but after she was done I was in such heaven! She did an amazing job. I am a natural blonde and wanted to go darker with blonde highlights. My hair did not look unnaturally dark nor did the highlights look brassy or uneven. I highly recommend this place. Jessi is soo sweet and does an amazing job. I will definitely come back to get my hair done and cut as well as check out her sister who does nails

I went there with my gf in the morning and the lady said she was busy and told me to come back at 4:30 pm. I walked in at 4:25 pm and waited till 4:45 pm, and the lady said she could help me with attitude because she told me to come back at 4:00 pm. I left and verified with my gf, she was pretty sure the lady said 4:30 pm too.
If they didn’t know how to keep appointment, maybe they shouldn ‘t take appointments in the first place.
Update: ¹⁄₂₂ The owner claimed innocence and completely ignored the fact that she messed up with the time. She said she didn’t keep the appointment because when she told me to come later I said «I will try», and that wasn’t good enough. Fine, if «try» weren’t good enough, why didn’t she tell me that when I said it? I was the one who made the effort and kept the promise, and she was the one who messed up with the time and blamed me for it. She didn’t even make the effort to keep the promise and just assumed I won’t come. IS THAT HOW YOU RUN YOUR BUSINESS?

Two months ago I moved from San Francisco to San Mateo to be closer to my job. As an Asian guy living in the city, I always got my haircut on Irving. I looked for new places near my new apartment and all I found was very expensive salons and barbers.
I tried this place as it was a 5 minute walk from my apartment. I was a little apprehensive when I first came here, as I tend to not really like my haircuts. My hair is not complicated, very high fade and spiky on top, a pretty typical Asian guy cut. But I have an odd shaped head, so it never turns out exactly how I like it.
I showed the lady here a picture of how I wanted my hair, and I am very pleased to say she got it pretty much exactly how I wanted it. My only complaint would be that it takes longer than I am used to, but I’m fine with it as I can tell she really puts in the time and effort to make sure my hair is perfect and looks the way I want it to.
The price is great too. It’s a little more than I used to pay on Irving, but it’s much cheaper than all the other places I found in the area. I have come here many times since my first visit, and I will keep coming here for the foreseeable future. My wife also got her haircut here and was pretty happy with the result.
If you are looking for a nice inexpensive haircut, I definitely recommend this place.

This was the first time I visited this place and I must say I was impressed. The stylist is very patient and she did a great job in cutting my hair and washing/​rinsing with shampoo/​water. She took about 35 min. Charges are very nominal and be ready to be treated like a VIP. I feel like she takes time to do a good job and does not like to rush things. You seldom find such stylists these days. Therefore I would recommend to call in advance and get an appointment although she welcomes walk ins gladly. Men’s hair cut (to my satisfaction) and wash costed me $ 20. I definitely recommend this place.

I have been here quite a few times and Jessie has impressed every time. It shows when someone really tries to do a great job. Jessie never rushes or does a hurried., slapdash job that we get sometime at great clips or super cuts when there are appointments lined up.
I think I will continue going here as long as I am around here. I strongly recommend this place.

5 stars for really really last minute walk in (came in at 11 & she told me she had a client & to come back at 12) jessie was real nice & sweet, price was good especially the length of my hair, and asked if i wanted to keep the hair i cut to donate! Places never did that before & luckily she ask so i can remember. Normally i would let the salons know. Felt great being a first time at this salon. Overall, i found my new hairstylist. Thanks Jessie!

I got pedicure and waxing done here, loved it! The owner Jessie does awesome job and is also very sweet to talk to. And I also thought the price was reasonable.
Will surely go back there soon!

I got a nice haircut and its cheap compared to saloons around my place. they are friendly.
