Horrible service on the weekends. This place needs some serious staff training in customer service. They are slow, have refused to serve me many times because their weekend chef doesn’t show up until an hour after opening and then are slow to put out food.

Always a reliable place to go when you’re craving Mexican food. Delicious beans, great deals for Cal State students on a budget, and their breakfast burritos are huge! Always feel welcomed when I come here and it’s never too crowded.

Mr Taco is a lot better! The only reason I go to this place is because it’s across the street from my house. The quality of the food and menu is way better at Mr. taco. The last time I went into Primos the staff was rude which turned me off. I think next time I will continue to walk down the street to Mr Taco.

Not sure what they don’t get about Xtra cheese…(which I paid for), beans, sour cream and jalapeños??? What do you see here? I will not refer others or return here.

Primos definitely does the trick. This location is right by my place and is very convenient when you need… NEED. Mexican food. Reading all of the Unilocal reviews kinda turned me off, but I’m glad I repeatedly gave this place a try. They have great specials. especially for college students. I am no longer a student, but I’m sure I would have appreciated it back in the day. They have $ 2 breakfast burritos before 10am(of course at a smaller size than normal) and that would be great for a student on a budget. They have a special every day but the one I like most is the 10 for $ 10 street tacos on the weekends. This is perfect for sharing. Guess what, they also serve alcohol here. Even craft beer. If you wanted to, you could do a brunch thing and do some day drinking hehe. Only drawback is that there is no drive-thru which is common for the taco shops in the North County. Take a look inside and check out the huge menu and everyday specials.

I love Primos! The good is fantastic, the people are friendly, and the location is convenient. It’s a great fast Mexican restaurant. I highly recommend the California Burrito and the Fajita Burrito.

Mexican Food + Cold Draft Beer + Great Service = AWESOME! We are Mr. Taco lovers, but I admit… I’ve been searching for better Enchilada sauce than they have. Primos is down the hill from us and has in house delicious draft beers like Stone IPA, Ballast Point Sculpin, Pacifico and other cold delicious Mexican Beers. You can have a beer while you wait or or eat in house. Their house made salsas are delicious — we like the Habanero. Spicy but tasty. The street tacos are our faves — adobada and carnitas especially. And oh yes! Their Enchilada sauce is awesome! Order the enchiladas or order a burrito«wet»…you can’t go wrong.

Awful food. Mystery guacomole. Taquitos so small they wouldn’t fill up a child for dinner… will never eat here again.

I eat here a lot and my friends love it, the food is ok, it’s basic fast Mexican, I’m not sure what their guacamole is exactly, it’s like some green sludge that they shoot out of a gun. They have great happy hour prices if you can stand the blaring mariachi music they play all the time. But fast! I think, monster burritos are the size of a forearm.

Friendly staff and a cool little bar. Mediocre food so far; I’ll have to give them another try to make a fair grade. I’m not sure about the guacamole. They have a salsa labeled ‘Japones’; does it contain wasabi?

I’ve been here a few times for dinner. Food is always good and the service is great. Tonight I stopped in specifically to purchase a gift card and Selena helped me. She had never done a gift card before so she had to make a couple of calls. During this time she was so sweet, apologetic, and still helping the other customers with their orders. While I waited I noticed the TVs in the restaurant had on the basketball and baseball games. I also noticed they serve beer and other alcoholic beverages. A couple families were in here eating dinner and it’s a great location since it’s a big area and the kids don’t have to be super quiet. Primos shares a parking lot with a couple other restaurants and every time I’ve been I have found parking. I imagine a lot of their customers walk here from the nearby apartments and condos. I’ll definitely be back simply because of Selena’s wonderful attitude. She didn’t get flustered and didn’t shoo me away. She could have easily asked me to come back another time. She made sure I walked out satisfied with my purchase.

Not bad if you want a quick bite to eat… But don’t order the«Rolled Tacos» as they are not made fresh! They taste just like the frozen ones from the freezer!!! And the yellow cheese they use doesn’t melt???

Yummy buffalo chicken burrito! I hope it doesn’t go away. Thanks for also having CSUSM specials! The ladies that work at the register are really nice. Would love to see potato rolled tacos on the menu

Bland, the food is bland. But I keep coming here because it is my excuse to walk in my neighborhood. Whenever I go there I have to fix my meals with extra salsa(the salsa is good) because the food is not up to par. The guacamole tastes funny. Sour cream maybe? I don’t know! Who had the idea to put sour cream in guacamole? That is not guacamole people. The place looks nice and they had the World Cup and now NFL games playing for those sports fans.

Never eating here again. Not going to rant. They lost a great customer. Never paying $ 9.50 for a crap beans, rice, & cheese asked angus steak please. I got home no angus steak or what ever the«f» it is?.. It’s Americanized crap!!! I call it carne asada they don’t sell it so I’m not returning. $ 9.50 burrito with attitude and no cheese or angus??? Shameful. Plus the girl Monday 9 – 8 was the meanest evil eyed person I’ve encountered. She literally smirked at me & starred me down. Creepy. Period. I’m Bummed out man! Excuse my language and red face. I think I ranted –dang. I’ve eaten here so many times and never seen her. I’d say all the other girls are sweet there’s one cute one too… My cashier ruined it. Prolly a new hire? I was so creeped out by her happiness to see me upset then taunt me. Read my reviews I hardly complain about service let alone call the place out over 1 bad visit. Weirdest experience tonight at a burrito shop EVER. Also their guacamole is really weird like green sour cream. Avoid it.

I always feel guilty eating here when my pals at Mr. Taco are almost directly across the street. But the employees are nice, the place is definitely better looking than your average run-down taco joint, there are several flat screen TVs(and none of them are loudly tuned into Spanish-language futbol – yay!), and the menu is interesting. I tried the somewhat healthier Baja corn bowl which has nothing to do with Baja but was still pretty darn good. It was a huge bowl filled with corn, rice, grilled chicken and black beans, and it was plenty for two separate meals(and all for about $ 7). Free(and fresh) chips here, too, which is pretty much unheard of at all other taco joints. They are still going wild with the added salt here and, even as a salt lover, it’s a bit too much for me. I don’t love the place but I do like it.

Awful portion size and bad customer service. Let me back track. I was born and raised in San Diego and lived in a part of town where Im surrounded by wonderful Mexican taco shops, from small family owned businesses to multi store spots like Lolita’s. In my years of frequenting awesome taco shops, you can understand that I have a good idea of what’s what in this food genre, if you will. Primos Mexican Food at the San Marcos location did not have good customer service(maybe I came on an off day) and let me explain. I enjoy my carne asada fries with thin fries, not those large ones you’d find frozen in a grocery store. When I asked what size fries they use in their carne asada fries, the cashier was taken aback, and looked like it was taken personally. It was as if my question offended them. It was just a question… From then on things went down hill. My receipt wasn’t handed to me but tossed my way after putting my hand out to receive the receipt. When my meal was ready, my number wasn’t called but with an irritated tone of, «Your food is ready.» I ordered the«Half-Monster Fries» and with a name like that I thought I would have plenty for tomorrow as well. Unfortunately it was much smaller than I had thought. For reference I put a fork next to my meal for comparison(Check out my photo) I paid over $ 6 for that. I wasn’t happy. I’ll leave this review, however, on a positive note. Their carne asada was tasty and marinated well, even though I had a small amount. Ratio of fries to guac, to sour cream, to meat was evenly made. I might give this place another try in the future but am much more eager to find another taco shop in San Marcos.
