Never really complimented the staff here publicly. But after 7 years of eating here weekly it dawned on us why !! The staff is amazing. Nick, Matt, Lindsey and Adrienne absolute stars! I would hire any of them if given the chance! They are models of customer service! Never have we been so welcomed into a establishment. Oh and the foods awesome too!

I’ve elected to write an update rather than delete the original. The original review dealt with my honest feelings at the time of the review and to delete them I feel would be a disservice to people that rely on these reviews, as I do. However, I also don’t want to provide a disservice to the establishment, which in this case, reached out to me in an effort to explain and make it right. Several of the managers contacted me the following day and explained the reasons for their policy and did offer to make a concession on the delivery charge, which I did not accept, though I did accept their explanations. Because THAT review wasn’t about food quality or service issues, I consider that one put to bed meaning this update, is more about the food and service. I’ve probably eaten at or from Pizza Nova(this location) maybe 2 dozen times, and there hasn’t been a single time that the food hasn’t been top notch and the service has always been very good as well. I usually enjoy one of the craft beers while I’m there and find the selection to be about right for«my» tastes. They also maintain a good selection of name brands for those times I’m not looking for that extra flavor or kick. If you’re looking for a good Nuevo Italian cuisine I have no qualms about recommending Pizza Nova for either their food quality or service.

The pasta is the bomb! But one night I went in there and no one acknowledged me for 15 mins when they did they said hey what’s up and walked away. Mind you I was sitting at the bar and there were two people there on a night that was not busy at all! Kinda pissed about that!

Food was good, not great. We had pizzas(good) and a salad(under dressed and way too many cranberries). The thing that was most impressive and warranted the extra tip I left was the service. We came in with a handful of people and made a bit of a mess. Kudos to our server for her patience and to the bussers who had to clean up after us.

We always love to go to Pizza Nova. Food is excellent, service is great. Their happy hour apps and wine/beer specials are terrific, too. And Matt is awesome! He’s always super friendly and makes us feel very welcomed.

Well, I don’t typically update one star ratings, but Adrienne, manager for Pizza Nova reached out to me after my catering order went a little awry. She made every effort to rectify the issues I had, and her customer service went a long, long way. All in all, I would say that I am satisfied with my experience, and will likely return to give them another shot.

Just called to order a pizza for delivery. I was warned that its a $ 20 minimum. Fine. The pizza I ordered came to $ 14. I said how about a side salad. He said that will bring you to your $ 20 minimum. Fine. I asked for a total, he wasn’t going to tell me I had to ask. Nearly $ 30! I asked how that is, he said there is a delivery charge. I have never heard of a restaurant charging a fee AND a minimum. Usually its one or the other. I asked why I need to pay a fee when I met the minimum. I asked if I could just pay the delivery fee and only get the pizza as I only ordered the salad to meet the minimum. I was told«that wont work». I said forget it. I have eaten here a few times because I can literally walk there I am so close, but forget it. Every time I do I think, why did I just blow a ton of money on food that’s really not that great and service that sucks big time. Get a clue Pizza Nova.(no wonder you’re so slow these days)

Visiting for work. My boss recommended I try it. Had chicken Marsala and hot lava cake for dessert. Chicken was great. Sauce was amazing. Dessert was to die for. Atmosphere is a little loud with tv noise, music and then the acoustics. I wouldn’t recommend it if you had a date where you wanted to actually converse. Patio looks great and the restaurant itself is very clean. I only gave 4 stars because the service was a bit slow. Maybe it’s the relaxed California vibe but I like my drink to stay full and like to be checked in on at least periodically. Waitress was nice but just a tad slow. Good variety to the menu. More than just a pizza place for sure.

Went here for dinner and to catch the last of the happy hour apps. Great place for casual dining and hanging out with friends. Plus, the happy hour deals are great! Our server was Naomi and she is absolutely amazing! She is so sweet and always has a smile on her face. She was very attentive to our table to make sure on how we were doing. Also very helpful by giving us recommendations since we couldn’t decide what to order. My friend ordered the $ 5HH calamari and mini cheese pizza. I ordered the $ 5HH meatballs and marinara and the fettuccine alfredo with added chicken and broccoli. Calamari was delicious, not too heavily fried and the dipping sauces were amazing. The meatballs were so flavorful and not dry at all. Now the fettuccine alfredo wasn’t as good as I expected(which is why I give this 4 stars) was a bit dry, not enough sauce, and it was pretty hard to eat. It would have been tasty, if there was more sauce in it. The broccoli was kind of bitter which wasn’t pleasant at all. Overall, the food was tasty despite the pasta but maybe next time I’ll know to order it with more sauce, or order something else too. Thanks Naomi for the great service though!!!

Best pizza and best Greek salad(HUGE!) I’ve had since moving to the San Diego area in 1987! Plus the staff is unusually friendly and helpful. Hard to think of anything needing improvement. Lucky for us we live close by.

I’ve been to Pizza Nova plenty of times over the past few years. Strangely, I’m not a fan of the pizza. The house salad is what I come here for now. It is literally so good and I usually despise salad. The bread rolls they give you as the appetizer are amazing, except for the fact I usually eat too many of them before my actual meal comes… I’ve tried a few types of their pastas, and they’re all good. I never really understood buying pasta somewhere because it tastes the same as what we can make at home, but since their pizza isn’t that great I stick with pasta. It is a little expensive. I think the salad is $ 10 and they don’t offer half portions. I paid $ 22 for two salads and one pasta tonight… eh. But the service is typically good and I’ve rarely had to wait a long time. Definitely a good place to come eat at occasionally.

Damn you, Pizza Nova and your stupid dripping-with-oil garlic balls. Those things are delicious though and there is no stopping me from eating them. This place is great, especially for college students from CSU or St. Augustine for a quick bite to eat(they have great lunch specials) or a fun happy hour with reasonably priced beer and food. I’ve never had a bad experience here.

As I’m writing this I still haven’t decided on my rating yet. I came for dinner and had pizza in mind. The menu is all encompassing with an array of salads, pastas, pizzas, and sandwiches. I wanted to get the Italian Meat pizza but we decided on the Pepperoni White Pizza instead. I wasn’t too impressed by this pizza and was wishing we had gone with something with more meat. The pie was light with pepperonis and I couldn’t really taste the alfredo sauce. The happy hour deals were nice, $ 3 beers of the month, can’t beat that. Come in Monday — Friday 3−6p for HH. I think I will come back and try a different pizza later on, but for now I’m going with 3

My first and last time at Pizza Nova. They are short on staff and the service is horrible. Food is pretty good, but our entire experience made us not want to return. We were a party of 4 with two other parties waiting, we had arrived second. We were the last to be seated. After 45 minutes of waiting, the host mentioned that the servers weren’t allowing them to seat anyone as they were overwhelmed with service. At this point they had cleared half if not more of the restaurant. Therefore, leaving many open booths and tables. The two managers on staff were busy serving tables and did not pay much attention to their full lobby. An hour later we were offered bread balls while we waited. Once we were seated, it took another 15 minutes for the server to greet us. The server was pleasant and friendly, but not very attentive at times. You can tell he was busy which is understandable, but the amount of time it took to be seated in a half empty restaurant was unacceptable. I highly recommend that this restaurant looks into hiring new managers.

Always satisfied. Been a few times before and always very busy. A little loud but that’s ok sometimes. My only complaint was that the bottom of our pizza was not cooked all the way-soggy. Other than that it was delicious. Portion sizes are very large so we usually share a salad and pizza. This is a great place to bring kids. Often times they play outside in the courtyard next to the patio seating.

Came here on a Friday night knowing we would have a wait. We were given the option to wait(about 20 minutes) or be seated at the counter right away. The seats at the counter have backs to them and are pretty comfortable. The counter overlooks the chefs making the pizzas. Super fun. Pizza Nova serves complimentary garlic knots while you wait for your meal and honestly this is the reason my kids love to eat here. The boys ordered a turkey sandwich to split which came with a choice of three sides(pasta salad, fruit, or kettle chips). My boys went with the fruit. Only bummer was they didn’t actually split it on two plates for us, but no big deal. I ordered the«best» salad and had to have most of the items in it removed since I’m watching my food intake and they don’t have a generic salad option. The server was great though and accommodated my request. I added chicken breast to it and got the dressing on the side(I believe it is normally tossed in the salad). Our server was friendly and kept our drinks refilled. Food was good and the price was pretty reasonable. They do have outdoor seating and we saw a bunch of kids running around in the grass area nearby so it is a great spot to bring kids and they can get their energy out while you eat.

The building itself is great. It’s pretty big and open and we got seated really fast. They have a huge outside area which is going to be really nice in the summer. I personally enjoy the Pizza Nova in Point Loma a lot more. Not sure what it is about this location but they just don’t taste the same. I got the garlic chicken pizza. The garlic and chicken just didn’t taste very good and it was surprisingly really dry. I’m not sure if it just wasn’t seasoned or too cooked but I wasn’t very pleased with it. Their pizzas are a bit on the expensive side too. I don’t think I’ll be coming back. There’s a ton of pizza places around that offer better for less.

For price, location and over all taste it’s not bad. Service: ok, nothing special we ordered two drinks, sadly they were out of the ingredients to make one of them. Things happen no big deal. It took a little while for them to bring out or drinks because of that, and we ended up not getting drinks till after our appetizer had come out, kind of would have been nice to get water, or even asked if we wanted water since it took a little longer. Never came by and asked if we wanted another drink, but I don’t think we would have anyway so I wont ding that one too much Food: The pizza was delicious, I have been craving good pizza for days and the pear Gorgonzola was just what I needed between kind of healthy and still pizza. The calamari was delicious, their garlic ball things left something to be desired just tasted like a ball of dough dripping in olive oil. I think the restaurant has a weird set up, seems a little all over the place, but that’s not a deterrent from going back there.

Had dinner here tonight and Nick was our server. What a fabulous server he is! I’d give him 10 stars out of 5 if I could! We had a delightful evening thanks to you Nick! The food was great, the drinks hit the spot and we are heading home with full happy tummies! We went with our usual favorite, lobster bisque and chicken tequila pasta. It was awesome as always. Great night! We will be back sooner than later…& we will ask to have Nick as our server!
