This is the best hair salon I have been to since I’ve lived in the area. Ashley always does a wonderful job with my color. If you are looking for a salon this is the place to go!

I needed a quick fix for my hair and they scheduled me the next day, very convenient. I showed Jessica the photo of what I wanted multiple times before we got started and explained many times that I needed more of a blend of color, so there wouldn’t be so much contrast between the top and bottom of the back color.
I’m not sure if it’s because she was too busy texting, didn’t know what she was doing, or was upset that I had short hair, but she did not deliver. The cut is sloppy and not like the photo I showed her. The color in the front/​top looks great, but the bottom in still so dark there’s a line between the top and bottom, exactly what I’d said multiple times I didn’t want.
When I got home and realized this, I sent her photos and called the salon. She told me there was nothing that could be done, but would get more of what I want the next time I come in. She never followed up with me, and neither did a manager.
This salon is not one that cares about its clients. They do not pay attention to what you want, and will not go out of the way for you. The atmosphere was not welcoming, with the stylists gossiping loudly between themselves and the receptionist, even with a client in the chair. Very unprofessional. If you care about your hairstyle at all, go somewhere else.

I went to Mackenzie when she was still at the salon. She was nice and cut my hair perfectly, I was just extremely uncomfortable listening to how the girls talked about how drunk they got the night before. I would rather not hear about how hungover you are and how much you drank while you’re holding scissors to my hair; it was extremely unprofessional!
All in all though, they know what they’re doing so i’ll def be back.

This has been the only salon I have ever been to that has actually given me what I wanted first time around. They’re slightly expensive, but well worth it compared to other salons even in Austin.

Will always come back! Renne is fantastic I have gotten highlights, haircut and a keratin treatment, she doesn’t let me leave until I’m absolutely In love with my hair! She always takes her time and pays attention to what exactly I wanted to do my hair. I will keep coming back! :)

I’ve been to Monroe a few times now and I love it! It has a very comfortable vibe and the space itself is really cool.
I’ve had my hair cut and eyebrows waxed with Ana, who is awesome. She is funny and down to earth which makes for an easy and enjoyable conversation while you get your work done. Most importantly, she knows what she is doing. I’ve been very satisfied with her work and it’s a huge bonus that she doesn’t charge an arm and a leg.

I absolutely loved Devin! I have carried her card around with me since 2010 and finally called and set up an appointment after many years. It’s impressive shes still at the same salon. I showed up early, so I sat in a chair and waited for a few while she finished up with a client. Although one of the other hairdressers was not so friendly (Kinda of snotty, but it was only 1 woman) the rest of the ladies were all smiles and very polite. I recommend her to anyone who needs a hair makeover. My hair and I are very happy with the outcome and I will continue to go see her whenever I need a cut (Or anything else hair-​related)

I’ve been looking for a place to have my hair cut and colored when I’m in Texas visiting family. I found Monroe Hair Studio on Unilocal and liked the reviews I saw. I decided to give Kate a try and wasn’t disappointed! I really needed a sound consult about my color, and Kate gave great advice and followed through perfectly. My hair cut was excellent also. She really listens to her clients and addresses their concerns. She is pleasant and fun to talk to as well. Will definitely be going back!

I may be partial due to the fact that the owner is a longtime friend of mine, but this is one of the best salons in town. Everyone is a perfect mix of friendly and professional. I go to Diana and she never let’s me down!

LOVE THIS SALON! They are extremely experienced and are very hospitable. They know how to keep their clients happy. Its not one of those places where you have to wait when you get there or make an appointment 3 months in advance. They always do their best to get to you on time and will work you in anytime. All of my girlfriends go and rave about it as well. I get ful highlight and cut every time I go. I personally go to Lanna and know it will look great when I leave. No surprises! The prices are great compared to other salons and all of the products they use are perfect for keeping you hair healthy and looking great. I recommend this place to everyone! You will not be disappointed! Try them out… you wont go anywhere else after you experience Monroe!

I drive from Austin to get my hair cut by Devin. She does a great job for a great price. The environment at the salon is very comfortable, it’s worth the distance.

Let me preface this by saying that I am very hard to please and have only had one person in my ENTIRE LIFE cut my hair. A friend had recommended Kate at Monroe and I am so glad I took the risk! She was amazing. She was friendly and considerate to the fact that I was very nervous. She took her time and did a great job of walking me through the entire cut to make sure it was what I wanted. The prices were amazing (compared to what I have paid in the past) and I will definitely be going back and will try color next time too! Thank you so much girls @ Monroe and especially Kate!

A friend of mine recommended that I get my hair cut here (1) because it was $ 10 cheaper than at Salon Mink for the same services (2) because she was very satisfied with her haircut and service. I went to get a trim/​even out a grown-​out bob and get some bangs (which I hadn’t had for 12 years). The staff was nice, but as soon as I started getting my hair cut, I noticed that some of the staff were not exactly people in my social group. My point is, people in different social groups have different aesthetics… and it makes it harder to convey what you want when someone doesn’t understand or is unfamiliar with a certain style, not to mention that they might try to interpret your look to match it to their aesthetics. Personally, I would prefer that my hairstylist be more artistically inclined, and not your «average» girl.
I brought pictures that I found on the internet of what I wanted. However, I do not think this helped my stylist achieve the ideal look I wanted; it was too late to fix it. I had also asked several times for recommendations on hair products, which my stylist never gave me. She did, however, give me tips to maintain my bangs (which I ended up hiding under a headband anyway). Perhaps my expectations were too high, but I was kinda disappointed. I *might* consider going back if I had a different stylist. However, I am more likely to go back to Mink for something a little more complex at this time.

I’m just a dude, but this friendly staff does an amazing job. I have a simple hair cut that surprisingly seems hard to do right. I have tried everybody and there are two saloons I will let cut my hair and Monroe is one of them… I also have to add I have paid way more for way worse, the price is better the great!

THE «MONROE BLOWOUT» IS AMAZING! ~I have been going to Kate at Monroe Hair Studio for about 5 years now. I started going when I was in college and now still make the 45 minute drive from north Austin. All of the stylist here are great! (I have friends who go to all of them) The prices are amazing too! I got the «Monroe Blowout» last week and I love it. I naturally have very thick, curly hair that has been damaged from years of highlighting and swimming. Before the blowout, drying and straightening my hair would take me at least an hour. After getting the blow out, my hair feels healthier than it has in years, and it is much easier to work with. Now it only takes me 20 – 30 minutes to dry and straighten it. I was hesitant about getting any kind of treatment done to my hair because I have heard girls paying over $ 1000 for the Brazilian Blowout, only to have their hair damaged. However, the «Monroe Blowout» is a Vegan treatment, which means all natural products are used. I definitely recommend the «Monroe Blowout» to anyone with frizzy or curly hair!!!
