Best smoked ribs period. Also had baked potato with all the topping was so good, not your ordinary baked potato

The BESTBBQ! You can never go wrong with Dickey’s! Last time we were there(longer ago than I want to admit) we received a bonus order of fried okra. I don’t know why because I will not question free food — haha! They must have known I secretly wanted it but refused to order it because I was trying to «be good!» Anyway, you guys deserve an extra star or two just for reading my mind!

After leaving Tuscaloosa, Alabama I had to find another Dickeys. Am delighted to state the Dickeys in San Marcos is as great as the BBQ in Alabama. Paul the manager was great. There is also a uniform/military discount just like the originals as long as you ask for it. Kids eat for free on Sunday’s; be forewarned its slammed on Sunday’s. Best time to eat during the week is between 2pm — 4pm otherwise they are slammed. There is also ice cream and comes at this location. Most do not have this wonderful accommodation. They also offer their plastic cups as souvenirs. Wonderful. The only downfall is they don’t have beef ribs but they do have an amazing beef brisket as well as a cheddar sausage. Gotta mention their baked potato(baked for 3 hours). The original Dickeys I went to in Tuscaloosa, Alabama sales through 350 baked potatoes in a morning.

Went for lunch yesterday. I had read reviews and was looking forward to some good food. I ordered the brisket with mac&cheese and the mashed potatoes. What a disappointment! The meat was dry and not any better than a pot roast. The potatoes were disgusting and so was the Mac and cheese. The roll was really bad too. Don’t waste your money …

3 months ago, I wrote the initial review and Dickey’s BBQ responded asking for my contact info to rectify the situation only to never reach out to me. I will never come back here. The food was terrible and I’ll be sure to never recommend them to anyone!

We had the slow roasted pork and beef. Delicious. Portions are small so order family size. Service was on point. Fast and friendly. We will be back.

Amazing service! We went in a couple days ago and when we first arrived there was just one guy working. It was a slow evening. The guy asked us it was our first time there and we said yes. He told us what the specials were and recommended the family size for our family. Great choice! Shortly after ordering another young man showed up and rang us up. The food was amazing and the service was amazing! We are definitely going back !

Food was good, service was good, only disappointment was that they had no cobbler. Apparently this location will never carry the cobbler… That’s sucks because it’s actually really good!

Food-Excellent!!! We usually visit after church on Sunday’s, came here today for Mother’s Day, my choice :) and the pulled pork and ribs are my favorite with the spicy BBQ sauce!!! It was so busy today that some of our food was cool to the touch :-/I didn’t complain because I understand things happen. I will continue to visit because I love BBQ here at Dickies! Cheers

I checked out Dickey’s BBQ Pit for the first time. I had the half rack ribs, with the smokehouse salad. GF had pulled pork plate w/two sides. The ribs fell off the bone were really moist, maybe even soggy. I have had better ribs. Everything else was really good, especially the pulled pork. I will definitely eat here again!

Yes, I liked it, I really really liked it. I have not found much BBQ since I got back home from living in the south for five years. So when I try a place it ALWAYS compares to my stay in the south. This place was pretty good! I had the brisket sandwich and the meat was tender and I liked all the tastes of the bbq sauces. Original and spicy are my favorite. My friend got the baked potato casserole and I got the jalapeño beans, both were good. My only question is where are the greens? But then I dont know if we even know how to cook them out here. lol Anyways, the staff was nice, the atmosphere was fast food style and the lunch was YUMMY. Figure 10 a person while dining here, kids meals for half, and free on sundays. Even though I was full, I did go back for that free soft serve. I can’t pass up free.

Drove by while running errands and decided to check it out. The staff was helpful and nice… they even came to check on us after we started eating. The prices were very reasonable too. Food was just«ok». We had: — Managers Special which was a beef brisket sandwich with Mac n Cheese(which was my favorite side) and coleslaw — 2 meat plate with brisket and pork ribs, a roll, fried okra, bbq baked beans and green beans w. bacon Btw, you’ll walk out smelling like bbq smoke! We may give it another try.

Hey, Dickey’s you’re so good, you’re so good you blow my mind. Hey, Dickey’s. Clap clap. Hey, Dickey’s. Sorry for the musical opening number but every time I drive by Dickey’s that song pops in my head. Where do I begin. Best BBQ in town for the money. I won’t testify under oath as to what quality of meat they use. I can testify to the quality of the taste, it’s awesome. BBQ pulled pork, beef brisket and chicken are all good. As I suspected they would be. The menu item that surprised me the most was the turkey. The juiciest and most tender turkey I have ever had at a fast food restaurant. Normally turkey of a fast food variety is as dry as a desert. I mean it’s esophageal sand paper. Dickey’s however figured it out. Moist, I know a lot of people hate that word, but it’s necessary in describing the turkey. They are getting five stars because they offer free soft serve. Cha-ching.

Pulled pork, turkey, and ribs were a great texture. Could have used more salt in their dry rub, but their sauces give a lot of flavor. I agree with other reviewers that their brisket is not great. Their spicy cheesy sausage was super tasty. They were OUT of fried onion tanglers and ham, both of which we were looking forward to trying. We had their unsweetened iced tea, which was very good(tasted like Lipton or some other classic blend). Not sure how many people care, but their ice is DELICIOUS! I included a picture of their ice, FYI. They really could have used some music playing, because it was very quiet and that is not fun. Also, while I appreciate that they give free soft serve, it’s not very tasty. Over all, we had a good time, and we got to try a lot of their meats(most of which we liked a lot). We got a voucher from which took $ 25 off our bill, so that made everything even better. We will be back!

Finally… Big Sid has come back to DICKEY’S!!! Big Sid says this, you may have had Phil’s BBQ, you may have had Mike’s BBQ, but you ain’t never… «ANDBIGSIDMEANS… NEVER» had BBQ like Dickey’s. Pulled Pork, they got it! Brisket, they got it! Chicken & Ribs, they got it too… But what stands Dickey’s apart from the rest? «ITDOESN’T MATTER»!!! Not true, Big Sid says, it’s the service. The General Manager Conor, tasks time to check on each customer Personally!!! Making sure that the food and the service is up to par. So Big Sid says, «If you just know your role and SHUT your mouth»… Take your taste buds and«your Rudepoo CandyAss» over to Dickey’s BBQ Pit. AND get ready… «IFYOUSMEEEEEELLLLLLL… what Dickey’s is Cookin.»

There are few nobler quests in life other than Man’s search for the perfect brisket. Ok, there are a lot more nobler quests, like maybe curing cancer but brisket is right up there in the front lines. This review is about the brisket only because it is the King MotherFucker of beef BBQ’d meats. Everything else is filler and advertising, only put there to distract you. Of all the brisket sandwich’s I’ve tried in SD, this one is my King Mother. It is the juiciest, most tender, perfectly spiced, succulescent, pornographically amazing mouthgasm you will have for your American dollar. The bun’s are marshmallow soft and cradle the meat in intimate ways best left to your imagination. If I were you I’d order two just make sure your savage BBQ Beast is tamed. Ok thats the good part. Other than the awesome plastic yellow cup you get to take home for free, that’s about all Dickey’s has going for it… which actually ain’t that bad! Gripes: Person taking your order is also the person cutting the meat for you, which is just odd, time-wasting, and leaves the cash register smeared in meat sauce and spices. The Dude does not abide. Sides: BBQ beans are watery to the point of comedy and smokey to the point of what-the-hell-did-I-do-to-deserve-this. Potato salad? Drowning in a sea of regretfully flavorless mayo and dill. Makes me think of the movie Deliverance and takes me to a really bad place in my mind. If you value your life stay far away… or feed it to your dog… or raccoon. Soda machine has that awesome crushed Ice you can’t live without. Prices are decent. Now: Please don’t let my old-man-gripes influence you from experiencing Dickeys. I say with my Magic Staff of Lighting as it strikes the ground, «Thou must try Dickey’s Brisket!’ …‘NOW!’

Went here for a late lunch or early dinner. My daughter and I decide to sit outside since it was a nice day. My husband had a coupon here. It is buy one get one free. I had the bbq pork plate. It came with waffle fries, a bread roll and a large drink. I had a light lemonade to wash down my food. The bbq pulled pork was dry and didn’t care for it. I enjoyed the waffle fries and my light lemonade. I was still full from our early lunch and the buntlet I had. I really couldn’t eat anymore. We ended up boxing up our food. I went in and asked the lady for a box and she gave me one. The people here seemed nice. There was plenty of seating inside and there was a single restroom in the back which wasn’t working. I left immediately. Haha… Before we left, I refilled my drink and decided to jet. I have had better barbecue from other places. This place was just okay.

This bbq place is smaller than Phil’s Bbq but comparable in taste and value. It’s tucked in a small corner of the Walmart Shopping Center off of Nordhal next to a Subway and Starbucks. They offer a wide variety of meats and sandwiches. You can order anything a la carte or in combos. They have daily specials that run less than $ 10 and include a drink which is a steal! They also cater. I recommend both the pulled Bork or beef brisket on either plate option or sandwich. They have sweet and unsweetened read and the standard soda machines that you find in all eateries. They have a neatly arranged condiment counter with onions, pickles, jalapeños, bbq sauces and ketchup. Their staff are friendly and helpful. Give this place a try when you’re in the area you won’t regret it. Hopefully they’ll gain more clientele to stick around for a while. Burger King which was located right next to Dickey’s closed and I’m betting due to its location. I’ll be back for sure and will most likely take the wife as she loves bbq!
