Unfortunately I cannot rate on the food because I never got the chance to eat the meal we ordered… I am all about mom and pop shops as I one day feel I may have one too! But there is a line that should not be crossed hygienically ever! It is a very hot day in San Marcos with tempers of 101 degrees. A pizza place should always have AC! Strike one driving up to this establishment wasn’t the greatest as its hotter than satans piss outside but knowing that I will be eating inside will cure me momentarily… at least I thought! To my surprise there was no AC which was a bummer but I still wanted to try the place out so I am looking at the menus the menu above the register is printed in poor quality and the hand menus are disgusting… as I am looking over the menu a child(probably about 4yrs old) comes from out of the kitchen which I am not a fan of as I don’t think it is safe for a child to be playing in a kitchen. A large man comes from the kitchen as well and takes the child out doors, at this point I am still pondering what I may want, once I have ordered and paid for my meal(118″ pie half grizz and half colorblind) this man with the child comes back in and checks his cashier’s sell and says you didn’t charge the right price… to me that means nothing because it just sounds like a boss Now has a situation to use as a coaching piece, but NO!!! Not only did they not have AC now I need to go back to the counter and fork over another $ 2.70…which I was happy to do until I saw the man that was suppose to be making my pizza sweat and wipe is brow and start kneading dough! Ummm absolutely not I will not be eating here ever…

This place never disappoints. Been going here for years and never had a bad experience. The staff is always pleasant and helpful and delivery times are accurate. The street taco pizza is amazing. Even the cheese pizza is awesome.

I’ve just picked up pizza there, I really like their specialty pizzas, something a little out of the ordinary. Service has always been very friendly.

There first time I came here it was 2011 and they had recently opened and I wasn’t a fan. They had burnt my slice of pizza, taken their due time and overcharged me for a tiny cup of ranch, but I wondered if they had changed. At first glance everything looks the same the eating area to the right still has the same décor and the wall on the left has seen better days, as it is now riddled with screws to hold all the plaques and awards, but that’s were the similarities end. I came in a Saturday afternoon for a slice of pizza to go. Although the employee was preoccupied with the order of some other customer, he still gave me a welcome and a rundown of the pizza slices available. As soon as I order they popped the pizza slice in the oven and after a few minutes I was on my way. The pepperoni pizza wasn’t the best, the pepperoni weren’t as good as the ones from Costco, but the cheese was nice and gooey. Overall it was a good, positive experience and I would recommend this place if you want a quick lunch.

This pizza place had been the bomb a few years ago. Original owners sold it and it went downhill. I decided to try it again, called in for a simple pickup of 2 pizzas and wings… they said ready in 25 – 30 minutes. Arrived 35 minutes later… paid the bill and then they said they just put the pizzas in the oven… WTF! Only 2 tables filled in the place… they said they got really busy but why not tell me while I am ordering. .I would have been ok coming down in an hour rather than sitting around waiting… I tried you guys again but never again… sorry :(

OK, first off… the pizza was delicious and the service was pretty darned good. The guy on the phone was personable, and we talked a little about this and that and soccer and that ALWAYS wins me over! The pizza arrived in less than the stated 45 – 60 minutes, so that’s good. We had the«Jumbo» 24-inch Meat Lovers pizza, sans ham, because that’s apparently how my kids roll. I ordered a second 14-inch pizza, the Street Taco pizza, just for me. We also got a House Salad, and the house dressing, which is an oil/lemon type of thing that is pretty darned tasty. We got WAY more food than we needed. Spent a little more than I intended, too… but that’s on me, since I wanted to make sure we were completely fed, and so I ordered accordingly. For my 10-year-old daughter, one slice of the Jumbo Meat Lovers was enough, and for my 11-year old son, it only took 2 slices to fill him up and he said it was«amazing». My 18-year-old only needed 3 slices, and my wife seemed content with 2 pieces of that. I had 4 slices of the smaller Street Taco Pizza, 1 slice of the Meat Lovers, and basically the entire salad. I think I’m going to birth some sort of crazy Italian-slash-sorta Mexican food-baby tonight at some point. I’m stuffed! The food was excellent. I couldn’t complain about a single thing there. Not one thing out of place, not one expectation left unsatisfied… on the FOOD! So why did I leave off a star? Why am I that one dude that refuses to dole out that fifth star, even when he’s pretty content? The delivery guy arrived ahead of schedule, however he was having a hard time finding our place, and seemed oblivious to the fact that I was outside waving at him each of the five times he passed our place. There’s no special sign on their guy’s car saying he’s the delivery driver, but it seemed pretty apparent to me that’s who he was. He did seem like he was trying to find us as quickly as possible, eager not to disappoint… I do appreciate that. But I was like RIGHTTHERE, waving him in, trying to say«dude! Here we are! That house you’re looking for is US!» He finally did catch on, rolled down his window and asked, «pizza?» YES! Yay! So, he hops out of his car, and hands me the receipt there on the street, and it seemed like he wanted to hand it all over right there. No big deal… I bet there are some people who are eager to do that, and besides it’s not like our walkway to the porch is all that well-lit. Not gonna fault the guy for that. I bet my body language was sort of inconsistent, and it probably wasn’t obvious to him just WHAT I expected. Not his fault. Anyway, none of that stuff prevented the 5th star. One plastic fork for the salad intended for 2 – 4 people; no napkins whatsoever; 2 parmesan packets and one pack of crushed red pepper for 40-inches(combined diameter) of pizza… these things are what prevented me from granting that final star. It’s the little things, is all… and a 5-star place anticipates and serves up the little things. This place is awesome, and just primed to earn that coveted«perfect» rating. Once they stop getting cheap on the little things that cost next-to-nothing but can have a huge effect on one’s experience with the food you serve… the sky’s the limit! So here’s to Blackstone! I’ll recommend the hell out of you guys. But I don’t think I can give you that 5th star just yet. But you definitely earned the right to earn it sometime in the future.

Super bummed on our experience today. We decided to have a late lunch, were feeling lazy so decided to order delivery. Some pizza places don’t start delivering till 4, but these guys said they were currently delivering(time was 2:56) so we ordered. Ordered a large pepperoni pizza and an Italian hoagie. They told me it would take an hour to hour fifteen mins. I thought that sounded long considering they’re less then 2 miles from our house and the order was very simple. Food arrived at 4:30, close to 20 mins after they had estimated. Opened the pizza box and the pizza was Luke warm at best, like it had been sitting there for 30 mins before delivery. Bummed on that. Time for the hoagie, it was baked liked requested but again felt like it’d been sitting for a while first. Asked for extra dressing in the side, nothing. Another thing that bothered me(not just this place), are the secret ingredients not on the menu. No where on the online menu does it say that the sandwich comes with mayo or mustard. Luckily I asked if mayo came on it and avoided that, but they didn’t tell me that mustard would also be there. I hate mustard and by the time we got it the mustard had settled pretty good into the bread making it extremely difficult/impossible to scrape off. Sandwich had the strong mustard taste which just made it bad for us. All in all, disappointed.

We ordered delivery. It came in a hour which is fine, but it was suuuuper cold. You should not order the philly cheesesteak to be delivered. The pizza was cold– salad was pretty good.

I’m not sure why there are some poor reviews. Maybe some people can’t handle a «New York» attitude. My experience was nothing but great. The pizza was fantastic and the price was very reasonable. There was a small wait but worth it for a great pie. This place is a hidden gem!

We tried to find a new place in our neighborhood. I’d seen Blackstone often enough and decided to try it. This place hit the mark! We were able to have a pizza/salad/drink combo, which totally fit the bill — neither of us left hungry or stuffed! The pizza was delicious. When we got there, they«apologized» saying fresh pizza for slices would have to be prepared and it might take 15 mins., and since they were making it fresh, what did we want on our slices? Does it get any better? Fresh and inexpensive?! We had our salads first, while we waited for the pizza. They were HUGE, with a help of mozzarella on top. The pizza came, and it was hot, tasty and spot on. It could have used a few more minutes in the oven, as I prefer a crispy crust — but that is on me, because I didn’t tell them in advance. We’ll definitely come back and partake of their wine, beer and other offerings.

Did a delivery of an antipasto salad, Greek salad and Margarita pizza. Overall not to bad, salad wasn’t anything special. The margarita pizza doesn’t have a red sauce. But the crust is spot on. Delivery driver must have had some issues, hence the picture of the pizza. Price was a little steep, $ 40 for two salads and a 14″ pizza, not including tip. Overall I would say there are better places in the area.

First timers, ordered two 14″(large) pepperonis and a Caesar salad for take out. Less than twenty bucks out the door and we had a massive amount left over. Took a peek at the pies before leaving and noticed they looked pretty rare, so asked if they could go back in the oven for a bit which they were happy to do. He suggested that next time we order the pizza«crispy». Ok, will do. Can’t really imagine how doughy it would have been otherwise, but anyway we got it covered. Taste, texture and all were fine. Beats Little Caesar’s, that’s for sure.

I always get 14″ pepperoni and cheese. They are both great! One of the best tasting pizza in north county. Crust is perfect, not too thick, not too thin. Pizza sauce is flavorful with hint of garlic. Always fresh and hot. I have been loving this place.

We had a horrible experience! I wood give ZERO stars if I was able. I ordered for the family since zi was running late from work around 5pm… Then 7pm swung around and the kids were calling me they had been waiting hungry. They NEVER called once to say hey were running 2 hrs, so I called the guy was passed off at me for bugging him about my order. He ended up cursing me out, telling me he didn’t have time for my bullshit. I wanted my money back since I had payed over the phone ahead of time. An hour later no money back… I had to drive over and demand my money for the pizza & order I never received. Then started blaming me for ordering pizza to be delivered to a hard to find address area. He’s batshit crazy and I’m glad we no longer go to him. Horrible customer service.

Unassuming pizza place, my girlfriend and I went because we wanted«by the slice», but they didn’t have anything. So we just ordered a basic pepperoni and olive pizza. Honestly, it was just a really, really good pizza. 5 stars because I’m not comparing it to «artisan» pizza, but that’s not what they do(but they did have some very interesting things on the menu, maybe they do that. Thinnish crust, but didn’t skimp on toppings: plenty of cheese, etc. If you’re complaining about it being expensive, there’s always cheap pizza around the corner for $ 5. But it sucks. Blackstone is just good pizza!

I’m not that happy with my order at Blackstone. Although the people eating the pizza enjoyed it(had it delivered to CSU San Marcos), the pizza came almost 35 minutes late to the meeting. As you can imagine, we had over 40 people very hungry and had to wait. The Blackstone Pizza management, didn’t contact me or try to apologize for the situation(at least not yet). I would not recommend to order from them again for delivery to CSU San Marcos for a meeting.
