So the bagels are ok. Just ok, and more ok if you’ve had real back east NYC bagels. What’s worse is the customer service — slow, rude, and having a general«I don’t give a flip» attitude. I know it’s just a bagel joint, but try to at least pretend you want to make money. It’ll do in a pinch(like if you’re starving) but it’s not great.

Ughh… this place was beyond disgusting. So dirty we were literally losing our appetite. I honestly dont even know where all these other reviews were talking about as far as the good ones. The chicken is not the fresh grilled chicken your expecting. It’s a frozen disgusting patty with no seasoning. When I asked the Asian lady I wanted something else because I didnt know their«grilled chciken» was a frozen patty. she said no & I didn’t even touch it. The beef bagel was disgusting too. We left everything behind. What a waste of money and food. Although their mini muffin wasn’t that bad, I definitely wouldn’t recommend Big Apple Bagels to anyone nor would I ever come near this place again. They really need to learn to clean up more than anything

I’ve passed by this little bagel/coffee/pastry shop a few times but finally had a chance to drop by with a few people. We wanted a quick snack and coffee so I suggested Big Apple. They’re located in the same plaza as Jack in The Box. You order at the cashier, pay, and wait for your items. We ordered two lattes, one iced coffee, and a dozen mini muffins. The lattes took a while to make and the friendly owner made them well. Friends like the lattes and we smiled at the branded paper coffee cups as well. My iced coffee was pleasant and not too acidic. The iced coffee is self serve and I totally loved how they gave you an empty plastic cup, sans ice, to fill(the cup) to your heart’s content(meaning whatever ice to coffee ratio you like). We also ordered the dozen mini muffins. There was a nice variety and the owner said they are all baked in house. Muffins we tried: cinnamon crumb, chocolate chip, blueberry, lemon coconut, lemon poppy, chocolate cheesecake, pineapple cheesecake. I liked the chocolate chip and chocolate cheesecake the most. It was about $ 5.50 for a dozen of the minis. They got busy so it’s nice to see them doing well. There are a few outdoor tables in front of their store. I’d come back to try one of their bagel sandwiches or another menu item.

I’ve been to this place a couple of times before and it usually takes a fair amount of time to receive my breakfast sandwich but nothing too crazy. My last attempt at eating here it took over 45 minutes for a simple breakfast sandwich and when I asked about my order they said they never got it. If I hadn’t asked about it I would’ve been here for an hour. After telling them about my order they were rude about it like it was my fault. Either way, last time coming here…

Spicy italian on the jalapeño bagel was legit, the southern bagel was tasty and the egg was larger than usual bagel shops

If you’re vegetarian, try the Mediterranean Veg-Out sandwich. You can get it with hummus to make it dairy-free, or go with cream cheese. I also ordered a few of the pastries from the display case. I love that they have mini versions of the pastries for those of us who want to treat ourselves with a few different flavors. I preferred the mini pineapple cheesecake over the chocolate cheesecake, surprisingly. I recommend this bagel shop!

Love this place. I work nearby and this is where i go for my lunch break more than anywhere else. $ 6 gets you a lunch bagle or you can get a breakfast bagle(served all day) for less than $ 5. The coffee is good and I ordered one of their smoothies for the first time just now, let me sample it… yup… that’s good stuff… and now taking a bite of the breakfast bagle(sausage, egg, cheese, chopped green pepper on Japaleno cheese bread)… wow… im a happy man. I dont do sweets often but they have a delicious looking pastry section, once i got a boston cream pie muffin, it was great and went perfect with my coffee. Do yourself a favor and try this place. Now back to my lunch… yum.

Pretty damn good bagels and I am super picky! Everything bagels are just right, they don’t dump rock salt on top which is great. Their bacon bagels are friggin fantastic! Their asiago cheese bagel is perfect and their pizza bagels are nice and saucy like a pizza. The size of the bagels are just right as well, bread is perfect texture inside, moist and stays freh the next day! Crust toasts to crispy when you toast it a long time. All in all the way they should be made!

Love this place. It’s not the fanciest looking place. It could definitely use some refurbishing. It’s simple and family owned. The owner is a bit grumpy. She’s the only downfall of this place. She will get you what you need but without a smile on her face.. Rest of the staff is great! The bagels are always so fresh and delicous and the cream cheeses rock! There are so many delicous choices. The whipped veggie cream cheese on an asiago cheese bagel is the best! Make sure you ask for your cream cheese on the side because they serve it spread for you otherwise. Not saying that’s a bad thing, I just like mine on the side. :) Would give five stars if they had a cleaner, nicer shop and a friendlier owner. The food deserves five stars! Try their orange-carrot juice btw! Sooo good!

I think any of their bagel sandwiches are good. The place is small, but there is outdoor seating. This is a great place for on the go breakfast and coffee. Their service is fast and the food never comes out looking sloppy or rushed. The prices are decent and not too expensive. You order at the counter and they will bring your food to you. They have breakfast bagel sandwiches and deli style sandwiches that you could put on your choice of bagel or twist. So you can go here for breakfast or lunch! Just keep in mind they close at 4 pm!

So I go in and order a sandwich. The guy is texting on his cell phone. Grabs my bagel to cut it without gloves or washing his hands, then proceeds to wipe his nose with his hand and continue to work on my sandwich. First of all it has been proven that cell phones carry an inordinate amount of bacteria and I’m sure if you are going to be handling food you should wash or glove your hands before doing so. The nose wipe was just icing on the cake. I cancelled the sandwich and will go elsewhere. Yuck.

My fiancé and I love this place! We come here almost every weekend. We order the southern tradition breakfast sandwich exclusively. 5 stars because this is one of the 1st bagel places I tried in SD when I moved here 8 years ago. After living around SD and trying different bagel places along the way, I can honestly say I haven’t been able to get a better bagel breakfast sandwich anywhere, including the very popular bagel chain. When I moved back to North County, being closer to this bagel place was one of the first pros on our moving list

Only go here because it’s convenient. They don’t put cream cheese on both sides. Bagels are overcooked. Slow service. And the people working the front never seem to want to be there. Wish New York bagels was closer

Look, I’m a bagel girl. I grew up with freshmade CA bagels and then lived in NYC for a decade eating their freshmade chewy bagels. I eat bagels everywhere. I wouldn’t say they are the Best bagels, but they are very good and so is the service. I tried the Jalapeño and Cheese bagel with lite cream cheese. It was delicious. Not used to the slight cornmeal texture on the bottom and not my preference(like on pizza bottoms), but aside from that, it was still tasty. It was not crowded(10amish on a Wed) and the staff were very nice and quick with my order. Menu options and presentation are a bit overwhelming for a new customer. Don’t expect extraordinary bagels, but good for an easy and decent bagel fix. I will return.

So I asked for 2 coffees, one of them decaffeinated. They had no decaffeinated coffee and wouldn’t make a fresh pot because I was the only one who asked for it. Their bagels were definitely not«Big Apple» style — they had no crust. Their breakfast sandwich(scrambled eggs with American cheese) were lousy. The eggs did not taste freshly made. The OJ was good, but the serving was really too big for one person.

Monday Mornings are usually filled with sadness because it’s death to the weekend, but it’s always nice to enjoy something that will take your mind off the fact you still have 5 more days before the weekend! I grabbed a Northern Omelet(Sausage, Eggs, Veggies, Cheese) sandwiched between a toasted Onion bagel. What’s wonderful is you can customize each sandwich(breakfast or lunch) to your liking! My friend grabbed the same thing except on a Jalapeño Cheese Bagel which added a nice salty, spicy flavor. My friend also said their muffins are FIERCE and amazing! So I’ll definitely be down to try that next time I’m in the neighborhood! This place is perfect if you want a little something for breakfast to tame the hunger beast instead of having everything but the kitchen sink for breakfast. All the breakfast and lunch sandwiches are made to order so if you’ve got an extra 5 mins to kill and want something more satisfying then fast food, this place will do the trick! Just make sure you have extra time though because everyone knows about this place, so you don’t want to be late for work because of sandwich!

Went in due to a groupon I had, and came out HAPPY! The customer service was nice, even though I was using a gift card. I came out with 6 muffins and the spinach egg on bagel. Nothing was disappointing. I would be a regular but that would make me really fat. lol

The bagels are okay. My everything bagel was under toasted and was lacking flavor. They had a pretty big selection of muffins that looked delicious, but I didn’t get one. The service was fast and the staff was friendly. If you order a bagel from here, ask for double toasted or else you will have an chewy bagel.

Not horrible but definitely not a NY bagel. The service was good. The bagel was ok. Now. The egg sandwich needs a lot of help. It tasted like cardboard. I had a Bacon, Egg & Cheese on an Everything Bagel. The egg was not freshly cooked. It was a powdered egg patty pre cooked & microwaved. Even the bacon was bland & I don’t know how that is even possible. Also the everything bagel should also have salt on it. If I wanted a microwaved breakfast sandwich I would go to a corporate chain that serves garbage like that(I won’t eat that crap). When I go to an independent place I expect freshly made food. I might come back again for a plain bagel every now and again but it won’t be a regular occurrence.

This place was good. My traditional bagel with eggs and cheese was boring. My boyfriend’s southern bagel sandwich on a bacon/cheese bagel was a lot more flavorful. I also ordered the cinnamon toast latte. It was bland and tasted almost burnt. A package of Splenda helped. The customer service was fine(you order at the counter and they’ll bring out your order to your table if you’re sitting) and the ambiance was typical. Decent place. I should try a more interesting bagel next time… I wouldn’t have gone if I didn’t have a Groupon for this place… Might be back!
