I recently had an extremely unpleasant experience at B & J Pharmacy in San Marcos. I had been looking for a good air purifier for my family to deal with bad allergies. B & J sells a very high price line of air purifiers. There were various different sizes and options for portable or installed on your furnace directly. The largest portable unit was $ 600 and I wasn’t sure if I would need two units or if it would work at all. I had a long discussion with the person in charge of that department and got the strong impression that they would work with me and figure out a fair solution depending on how many units or what type of units I ultimately bought. So I bought the $ 600 unit and it actually worked quite well so I went back to discuss buying another unit. I was referred to the overall manager for this department who normally works in the Wimberly store. I can’t imagine being treated more unprofessionally. I tried to make the point that I thought it would be fair to give me some type of discount on a second purchase — as I had generally discussed when I bought the first unit. She increasingly raised her voice and used an increasingly angry tone. She kept stating that they hadn’t agreed to give me a discount and that«surely I could see her point of view.» She was really making legal types of arguments which I didn’t really appreciate — particularly since I am a lawyer myself and I wasn’t making that kind of argument myself. This woman’s customer service skills were so lacking that she never even asked me what would satisfy my concerns — in fact I never even got to ask for anything specific so I don’t know how I could be deemed to have been unreasonable. She just kept interrupting me and continued to get louder and louder and angrier and angrier. Finally I had to stop it by saying«I guess we’ve reached an impasse.» Our interaction concluded by her saying that she would check into the matter further and promised to call me(I wrote my number down for her) with some kind of answer. True to her unprofessional form, she never called me to follow up. My conclusion — if you want a pharmacy with high prices and limited selection and you don’t care how they treat you — then B & J Pharmacy is the place to shop for you.

Aside from the fabulous knowledgeable friendly staff, delivery, wide range of products and being owned locally, they also compound medication and manufacture their own line of vitamins. This is fabulous for me specifically as I’m allergic to corn which seems to be in EVERYTHING nowadays. The vitamin of which my endocrinologist has me taking mass doses, I cannot find anywhere but here because everywhere else has corn products in their vitamins. Thank you SO much B&J. I’m so glad you are part of our community!
