Local business just trying to make it. Great owners, worth a visit at night with the kids

Most of the two stars is for the effort that went into the décor. Generic food and drink fare. Pass.

Cute concept for a icecream shoppe. Friendly service although I was the only one there other than the man I believe was the owner. They have a dozen flavors of ice cream from which they could make the usual treats. They also offered hot dogs & brats. I can’t say that the first visit amazed me, but I would go back without hesitation.

Stopped by today, couldn’t believe the old hubcap place is now a cute Ice Cream treat spot. Décor is super cute — in a kitschy 50’s diner sort of way. Happen to get there right after 3 couples and there 6 kids so it took a few minutes to get served, but no fault of owner I was vacillating between extreme chocolate and moosetracks. The owner described the moosetracks as being very creamy and delish. Soooo glad I went with his suggestion. Kids cone $ 1.79 — perfect size and so very good. This is quality ice cream ! Get the kid cone you’ll be surprised how satisfying it is.

«A» for décor and«D» for customer service and quality of food. My family(me, my husband and 7 year old son) stopped in for a late afternoon lunch. We were the only people in the restaurant and it took the owner over 20 minutes to put together a simple order of 2 brats and a hotdog. It took his wife even longer to tally up our order. The food was completely unmemorable. The hotdogs and brats were microwaved not even grilled or broiled to achieve better flavor. I’ll give this place 6 months before it’s it out of business.

Not to be confused with the Filling Station Bar in Benton Park, this adorable, family friendly hot dog and ice cream hut is housed in an old filling station and it’s filled with a TON of Elvis and other whimsical retro statues, signs, lights. They have seating inside, picnic tables out front and a reserve-able back yard with games that are perfect for a family party. The menu is limited to a variety of G&W sausages, brats, dogs, etc and a full ice cream bar(not self serve), but they will make other foods for parties that are booked ahead. They have also set up the inside for board games. Cute place, nice owners.

Cute little neighborhood ice cream parlor! Friendly folks and cool 50s vintage type decorations! My son loved the statues and his ice cream– we will return!

I see that other reviewers already mentioned how cute this is, but seriously… they have all these old gas station and drive in decorations, and they have a 1950s vibe going. The employees were very friendly. They told us that they will make pretty much anything any way you’d like it. They had maybe 14 kinds of ice cream and as many toppings. You can choose any combination for a sundae, malt, shake, etc. We enjoyed our ice cream, but we also noticed that they serve G&W meats, so we will likely be back for a quick bite when it’s warm enough to walk over. Pros: ice cream(!), speed, service, décor Neutral: creepy statues outside Cons: none

Very nice to see a locally owned mom-n-pop store these days! Cute ice cream parlor with good selection. The place is very clean and is tastefully decorated with a 50’s theme. The owner runs the place with the help of the family. He was explaining ideas he has for creating a wholesome family environment that allows the local community to participate. Come on everybody, let’s support our local family owned businesses! Great place, check it out when your in South City.
