Great service and delicious food! I love how you can order Chinese, Korean and Thai in the same restaurant. Tried the Indian Samosas, potstickers and Korean rice bowl. Everything was yummy!

We usually order take out from Lemay Wok but since it’s Sunday and they’re closed, we decided to try Smiling Buddha because of the awesome Unilocal reviews. We ordered General tsos chicken and Thai duck with an order of crab rangoon and golden dumplings. We were really disappointed. The food wasn’t flavorful at all and it was pretty pricey. The delivery boy was quick and nice. That is why I’m leaving two instead of one star. We’re going to stick to Lemay Wok for now on.

This is my favorite Asian restaurant in south St. Louis County. It is family-owned and they take great care to prepare meals to your taste. I have visited here with friends frequently in the last year and I was never disappointed. Creative selections for the Asian gourmet AND the not-so-adventurous. Pleasant atmosphere and the owners’ son always takes time to chat with us. A very pleasant experience.

Simplify Buddha delivers consistently tasty, quality food. The pineapple chicken, orange beef, chicken lettuce cups, fried golden dumplings, egg drop soup, and Hunan chicken are items I’ve ordered time after time and are always spot on. Ingredients are high quality and fresh, none of that mystery battered meat, gristle business, or sad vegetables found often in American Chinese food. Portions are also very generous; a dinner portion is 3 meals for me. The takeout service is prompt and polite. If dining in, the wait staff can seem a little inexperienced, but they’re always very nice and the food is correct and timely.

Hubby and I had dinner here last night and we really enjoyed ourselves. The service was top notch to say the least. I ordered Pad Thai but it turned out that I didn’t like it, so instead of just not eating it like planned to, the owner and server came over, saw my distress without me saying a word and offered to make me something else. I was really surprised, but very pleased that they were so accommodating. My next selection was much better: combination fried rice. Hubby seriously enjoyed his vegetarian dish, the entrees were large and the food was hot! We have already decided that this place will be one of our regular stops!

The food was excellent. However, it arrived after a wait of about half an hour. Next time, we may order and make reservations online … that might prevent this very hungry wait!

This is our go-to place for asian food in Oakville. Always a quality product and delivery is prompt every time. Consistent place for sure.

Not a fan! Really unfortunate because there is a lacking of restaurants in Oakville but forget it! The swrvice is great but out of 3 or 4 visits I can say I wont be back. I have kept it simple and ordered the tuna but regardless we were disappointed.

Living in the area I couldn’t believe there was a restaurant right under my noise with such a high rating. The décor is very flamboyant with the red vinyl table cloths and gold curtains tied around the chairs. It was clean and the service was excellent even if we were the only two there. The prices were high given the quality of the food. There were many exotic sounding items on the menu, I ordered a plate that was supposed to include scallops but instead some type of seafood had been sliced to resemblance of sea scallops. Several of the shrimp was still ice box cold as was the bed of broccoli under the seafood. I gave it two stars because it was clean and the service was good

It will not be an overstatement statement if I said that this is the best Chinese food I had in St Louis. The Penang curry chicken was delicious and the rice that accompanied it were really well cooked. I will definitely repeat this place.

Used Unilocal reviews to find good Chinese and was not disappointed. I called in a to go order. The man on the phone was very pleasant and quick. I was told 15 – 20 mins. It took me about 15 mins to get there and my food was ready. I ordered general Tso’s chicken with white rice and crab rangoons. Both were delicious. I’m used to spicier General Tso’s but was pleased with the dish overall. The rangoons were creamy and full of flavor. I will be going back!

We discovered Smiling Buddha a couple of months ago. In that time, we’ve had take out with friends for dinner, and dined for lunch three times… even though it’s a 45 minute drive for us! The first surprise when entering Smiling Buddha is the elegantly-dressed tables and chairs. They are sort of over-the-top in their gold and red satin-y fabric, but that makes it unique. It’s a nice change from the stark, no-dressing tables, paper napkin, plastic-ware that we’re used to when we think of «fast-food» Chinese. Smiling Buddha is WAY above fast-food fare. The second surprise is the super friendly staff. Someone greets you at the door with a smile, quickly brings you a menu and takes your drink order(and keeps your drinks filled!). All with a smile and an attitude that makes it obvious they appreciate your business. How nice! If you go for dinner, the menu is extensive and also beautifully presented. For lunch, the menu is pared down but offers great choices at a great price. The dinner menu offers Appetizers, Soups, Salads, Vegetarian, Fried Rice, Noodles, Seafood, Beef, Pork, Chicken, Chef’s Specials and Desserts. Some of the dishes that are most popular are their General Tso’s Chicken, Thai Spicy Chicken(sliced chicken and spicy jalapeño peppers and veggies in a spicy Thai sauce), Mongolian Beef(sliced flank steak), Lemongrass Pork(pork strips sauteed with lemongrass and Thai chili with fish sauce) and Stir Fried Garlic Scallops. I also recommend the Pot Stickers. They are large, cooked properly, come 4 to an order for $ 4. Well worth it! Oh, and the friend rice isn’t greasy at all. Their entrees range from $ 9 to $ 20 with most being $ 12 – 13. Their lunch specials are $ 7 to $ 9 and include soup, fried or white rice and a crab rangoon. Lastly, they have a pretty good beer selection with most being in the $ 2.50 to $ 3.00 range. Very reasonable! Try Smiling Buddha and you’ll be pleasantly surprised. John has waited on us several times and he’s friendly, attentive and helps to make the dining experience enjoyable. PS: The ladies room is tidy and that is a guide for me when assessing a restaurant, although it could use a hook to hang my purse and jacket.

My parents live in Oakville so every time I come and visit them we make sure we make a trip to Smiling Buddha! Really cute décor inside that gives it a nice feel but the food is what steals the 5 stars for me — always fresh and delicious! I love their varied options and my Dad who’s vegetarian always finds equally as delicious things on the menu. I’ll definitely always be back here when I’m in Oakville.

I have tried basically every Chinese restaurant around, some better than others, and even a few buffets around as well. I have seen Smiling Buddha almost every day as I have passed by it on telegraph and just never made my way in, lord knows why… I did finally decide to and WOW I’m ashamed I never made it in before this… Simply put, AMAZING… You will not find better attention to detail not better flavor than this place for Chinese… You can REALLY tell that they take pride in the flavor and presentation… We went during dinner which is a bit more pricey than traditional Chinese but WAY worth it. We started with the lettuce chicken cups as an appetizer(you get 4 dollars off in the evenings with 2 entrees… Very nice touch) and they were delicious, highly recommended. Wife ordered the Crispy Honey Shrimp and I ordered the Thai Spicy Beef… We we were VERY pleased with the entire meal. I took some of the beef home and it reheated great… if your thinking of giving this place a try, don’t hesitate, you will be very happy you did.

Though south county isn’t exactly known for its culture, the Smiling Budda is an exception to the rule. This is my first review on Unilocal and to be honest it’s partly a selfish attempt to help this place out because I want to be able to eat there for a long time to come. Here it goes. First off, the food here is excellent, most of the«Asian» food in this area is your run of the mill, American style Chinese, super sweet and salty garbage. I love Asian food(sushi/Japanese, Vietnamese, Korean, Thai, Chinese etc) but usually don’t order it unless it’s high quality. Most of these places are just warming up a package of food that they ordered from the exact same supplier as the place down the street. This place is making it from scratch(mostly) from fresh ingredients in the kitchen. They offer authentic foods from many regions including: China India(appetizers) Vietnam Thailand Japanese(appetizers) My first meal was Szechwan Beef Stew and it was excellent. My date is vegetarian and she ordered the Thai Panang Curry Vegetable. Both were delicious and her lack of choices being vegetarian has made her quite picky. The beef in my dish was perfectly seasoned and tender. We’ve since tried may items and have never been disappointed. The service is always prompt ant the beer menu is the least expensive I’ve seen in a restaurant in a long while with domestic beers @ $ 2.50 and Micros/Imports for $ 3.00! They give a free appetizer when you order 2 entrees or something like that. Also the entrees are huge. They deliver even though it doesn’t say so on the menu. I have a few minor criticisms but I’m not going to post them now because as I mentioned this is my first Unilocal and I don’t know if I’ll be able to edit it later. Im posting pictures of the menu because I couldn’t find them on Google or Unilocal

Did not expect such good Chinese food in a strip mall space! Our table ordered the Honey Crispy Shrimp, the Broccoli Beef, and the Tofu Country Style.(The winner was the shrimp.) Portions were generous and prices were good. Service was good.

Okay been here twice. Came back for the hot braised wings. This place has a hidden treasure here. Wings take bout 15 min to make but whoa my golly jeeze. D-lish! Resturant is clean and help is super friendly and very accommodating. If your a Chinese fan this place will not leave you disappointed. You can tell the dishes are made by someone who gives a shit.

This place is cute inside. The service was great. Loved the food. But who I’m I kidding if you like Chinese food you will like this place. I got the lunch special, it came with a crab Rangoon and entrée and soup. I got the sweet n spicy soup: to me it was just ok Entrée was sweet n sour pork: I loved it, but then again I love sweet n sour anything. Lastly the Rangoon was good.

One downfall of Unilocal is that previous reviews set a tone and expectation for the restaurant before you even walk in. This place didn’t live up to the hype. I ordered garlic shrimp… I got sweet & sour shrimp. I didn’t bother bringing it to their attention. I don’t mind what they served, and I’d rather not see food wasted. The dish was ok… a little too much candied sauce. It came with a sad example of fried rice. The rice was dry… it seemed cooked in advance which was weird since we were the first customers in the door. And the fried rice didn’t have any egg, vegetables, or oil.
