Great drink prices, delicious food and fun overall atmosphere. Fun times and a good place to watch sports. What more could you want!

This place is so great! Went to a 90s drag show and it was fantastic! Bartenders were super nice and everybody was having a great time. Can’t wait to go back!

Nicely redecorated and catering to the LGBT community, R-Bar offers a mix of sports, patio, pool, darts, video, and even some quiet areas to chat with friends. The score board television setup gives the main bar, there are 2 bars in the winter and outside service in the warmer seasons, a sports feel with a friendly staff willing to accommodate guests. The bar offers full service of alcohol, wines, and beers including drafts of Bud Light, Boulevard, Stella, Blue Moon, Cidre, and Guinness. The menu offers bar fare entrees as well as 12 vegetarian options. Key items are Appetizers, Salads, Wraps, Flatbreads, Burgers, and Sandwiches — hot & cold. I arrived early to watch the Australian Open and ordered Blue Moon draft for $ 3 per pint, quite the bargain. Shannon, the bartender was quick with the drinks, changed channels upon request, and worked the bar to make everyone feel welcomed. R-Bar is just a little east of the main Grove scene but worth a visit. They are still building a following and go out of their way to earn a loyal fan base.

If I could put a negative to this review I would! I’m from Houston and so my friend decided oh I’ll take you to OUR gayborhood. So I go. And everyone is so lame! The music is off the chain and the dj is cool AF. But I find myself the only one dancing because everyone is too busy pretending to be cool. Whatever. *eyeroll* so my friend and I decide to go to another bar and when I get my tab the total is for 3 round of two beers and not 2. But what do I do?! Oh I just pay for it like a bitch! I don’t say anything to the bartender which in retrospect I should have now that I think about it. I mean it’s totally fucked up! I don’t even know why I tipped her but I did. This is why I hate going to places like this because they give me such little hope for humanity. Needless to say I’m NEVER going to this bar EVER again. Even if I’m from Houston but if I were to come back. Never would I come here! P. S. This is only 30 minutes after I left the bar. So goes to show you how sober I am although my tab says otherwise.

There’s like 3 or 4 bars in this massive space, and I haven’t been to all of them, but the first bar you see when you walk in is a sports bar. My friends and I were in there having some beer, which was reasonably priced, I must admit, because I think it was happy hour. On the TV’s all around, though, they were showing what I guess was like a rodeo championship or something. I asked the bartender who was working if we could change it to literally anything else as I’m against animal cruelty, and she said no, this is the sports bar. I was like«So Rodeo is a gay thing now?», jokingly. She very rudely said«Sports are a lesbian thing!» Way to go with the stereotypes, not to mention rudeness. So we got up and left and went to the back, which is apparently is a martini bar, but they don’t have the same alcohols as the other bar, so we had to order from a totally different menu that was WAY more expensive. No thanks. No thanks.
