One of the best kept secrets in Saint Louis is Mr. B’s. The staff is always ready to welcome you in right as you enter the bar area. Some nights you can walk right into the dining area and sit, other nights you may have to wait. They sport a full bar inside and a small wine and cocktail list. I have yet to get a bad glass of red wine from the place. Each table receives an assortment of breads to snack on, though you must try the house salad dressing while you are there. It is a sweet creamy italian with a hint of garlic and a great starter. My two favorite entrees are the Baked Mostacholi with provel cheese or the Beef Medallions with crab meat. If you happen to be there on a night when the Lasgna is the special I highly recommend it as well. Aside from it being a bit smokey once you step inside(since the entrance places you straight into the bar area) the atmosphere is nice and intimate. I think the largest table in the place is a 4 top so large groups may want to call ahead to check for seating availability. The staff is always great and very knowledgable about what is on the menu and what goes into the specials. This is still one of my favorite places to eat.

I hate to give a bad review — but I’ll cut to the chase as to why I did. We ordered the special«Combination Plate» for dinner, which the waitress suggested. I thought about it long and hard, and I’m absolutely sure this was the worst dish I’ve ever been served in a restaurant, including several throughout Kabul Afghanistan. I’m talking canned raviolis, plain overcooked linguine, and some penne all thrown together with some provel cheese and sauce, neither my fiancé nor I could take more than a few bites, it was disgusting. Our waitress was very slow and inattentive, not once asking us how the food was. When she returned and saw we only ate a few bites she only asked«Ready for some boxes?» and when we replied that we did not, she didn’t seem to think anything of it. The famed salad dressing everyone was talking about on another review site was actually some crappy version of a creamy Italian that was pretty gross. The«special ravioli» didn’t seem homemade at all, average frozen ready to make t-ravs… All in all, the only reason I even gave this place two-stars is because the woman behind the bar and the young man seating everyone were very friendly and helpful, everything else, including the man smoking a cigar as we walked into the 8×8 bar room which leads to the 10×10 restaurant(no escape from the cigar…) were just horrible. I feel like this place really deserves negative stars and should send me a check for my time being there.

I’ll be honest, this isn’t the place to go for atmosphere — unless your desired atmosphere includes walking through a dark smoky bar area to a slightly less dark and slightly less smoky back room, where you will most likely feel cramped. But if you’re anything like me, you don’t give a damn about the ambiance. If you’re anything like me, you only care about one thing — the food. And that, my friends, is where Mr. B’s excels. If you are an ambiance-seeker, rest assured that the service and the quality of the food totally make up for the lack of tasteful décor. I took my groupon over there last Sunday and had a great meal. The house dressing is to die for. The pasta is delicious. The staff is friendly and very attentive. It was an all-around great time. Plus, they sell lottery tickets, so there’s that. I’ll be back, Mr. B. I’ll be back.

I don’t have a whole lot to say about this place. It’s fairly typical bar fare, with a few extra choices. We started out with an order of spicy cheese balls, which weren’t all that spicy but you can never go wrong with fried cheese. Our friends ordered their«special» toasted ravioli, which was filled with spinach artichoke and ricotta. They were quite good. For dinner I got the Italian sausage sandwich it was covered marinara sauce and was all right, but nothing special. My wife got the steak sandwich which came on garlic cheese bread, she thought it was good. My wife also got a house salad with their house dressing which creamy Italian and she thought the dressing was sweet but in a good way. They have a few additional entrees on top of your typical bar food which is a nice touch.

Took my Groupon and headed over to Mr. B’s one Sunday afternoon. I’ve never been to this bar/grill before but I have driven past it a lot. We decided to eat indoors on the bar side, but noticed that there is sidewalk seating w/umbrellas. Our waitress came over right away and was very attentive the entire time. The chef even stopped out to verify our order. We started off with some spicy cheese balls, which were very yummy but not very spicy. We then all ordered sandwiches. I got the blackened chicken(which everyone agreed was the best), hubby got a strip steak sandwich, and our daughter got the black and bleu burger. All came w/fries and were on cheese garlic bread… yes, we are NOW all on a diet. They also have veggie toasted ravioli which we’ll have to get next time. I would say that this is a very nice and friendly neighborhood bar and grill and worth a visit. This is not a smoke free bar, but there are a lot of fans running and we didn’t notice the smoke too much.
