Glad that this place closed. It had to go. Somewhere between a theme restaurant and an overpriced diner lies the now defunct Kitchen K. We went one night for dinner… service was super slow and understaffed. We waited awhile for a table, and then they sat us down at a dirty table while they were cleaning it. Our waitress got all the orders wrong, and the food, when finally presented to us, was nothing to write home about.

9 of us had dinner there and I ordered the Mahi Mahi Hong Kong. The rice was overcooked and dry. The fish was OK. Service was excellent.

I’ve visited Kitchen K a couple years ago and recalled it was decent. This past week’s visit was the same, just decent. We ordered a range of appetizers, the sweet potato fries(yum! minus the banana flavored dipping sauce), chips and dip(standard) and the spring rolls(really good!) I ordered the turkey burger, which I questioned if it was really turkey b/c it tasted too good! Kitch K can save those homemade potato chips they serve on the side… gross! Everyone else seemed to enjoy their food. One annoyance was the helper-waiter that kept trying to take my plate… hello…I’m still chewing?!

I got the fish and chips and my co-workers got the burgers and fries and then we finished off with the apple crumble dessert(Topped with ice cream of course) Fish and Chips — Fish was ok, the sauces were interesting and definitely a twist to your regular tar tar so i’d give it a 3.5 out of 5 — Chips — was actually sweet potato fries — the co-workers rated it best they’ve had but i would say i prefer Lucas Park Grille’s — so 3.5 out of 5 fo rme Burgers– coming from folks who’ve travelled around quite a bit to say that this is good burger — This is Good burger. The fries that went with the burger — i’d rate them as one of the best regular potato fries i’ve had so far — and i’ve had a fair share of those. Last but not least, and drum roll please — Apply crumble with ice cream — out of this world! 6 out of 5. The apple crumble was very well flavoured — not too sweet, the crust was cruchny and the inside was melty, topped with the vanilla/caramel ice cream just made it taste absolutely heavenly. I must say St Louis, i am very impressed with a lot of the Desserts! overall, i am a fan and will definitely go back here for lunch!

This place is not very good. First, we had some of the worst service of all time. Despite the restaurant being about 40% empty, we still had to stand there for 20 minutes before they sat us. The maitre’d just disappeared! What, were you trying to decide where we could sit? How about ANYOFTHE5BILLIONOPENTABLES? So that sort of soured my experience to begin with. I ordered the fried chicken and it was just okay. I give it a C. Most of my friends did not like their entrees. I’d skip this place.

I went to Kitchen K last night with a group of 6 other people for dinner. We decided to sit in the bar area because we wanted just a casual atmosphere. The service was very prompt — it almost felt like the food came out too quickly and made me feel a little rushed. I split a wedge salad which was delicious — really the perfect amount of blue cheese, bacon, onion, and lettuce — and then split the ham and cheese panini. The panini was only ok — seemed like there was a lot of bread and not enough ham or cheese. The panini did come with Kitchen K’s homemade potato chips which were delicious. The whole table also enjoyed the variety of beers on tap which went beyond just your standard AB products. Overall we had good casual dinner. One recommendation I would have is for them to turn down the music slightly because it made conversation in the bar area difficult.

Came here on a friend’s recommendation, right before the Cardinals game, and we weren’t too hungry. I ordered two appetizers: the mini burgers and the sweet potato fries, with a 24 oz Boulevard Wheat to wash it all down. The sliders were DELISH. beef in the Midwest always does me right, perfectly cooked and cute as a button. the fries were meh. they should have cut them smaller, and the special sauce that comes w/them wasn’t very fitting. the boyf ordered a mahi tuna sandwich, although i was trying to hint to him through my eyes that you should NEVERORDERFISHINMISSOURI! trust me, i speak from personal experience. the fish was dry, but wasn’t terrible… if you come here, order a burger! kitchen k is fairly typical american food, with a cheap drink happy hour. good for people who are looking for that kind of stuff.

We went yesterday to happy hour at the bar area at kitchen k. We didn’t get food, but the menu looked interesting and extensive. The happy hour specials were good… large(24oz) draft beers were $ 4.25 and premium specialty cocktails were $ 5. The ambiance left something to be desired. The music in some areas was much louder than others and as the night set it, it became very dark. If I was eating food in the bar area, I think it would have been too dark for me. But, people watching along Washington Avenue was fun and the service was decent. For happy hour, I’d go again, and iId like to try the food at a future visit.

Some of the worst food I have had, and even worse kitchen staff. Not only were they wrong but they forgot it was an open kitchen when making fun of us. The food was passable, but by no means good. The food is basically over glorified diner food, but not as good as most diners. I feel bad for the server, she tried really hard, but it was too late. I would not eat there again, regardless of the circumstances. (I am a traditionally trained French/Italian chef, and have eaten out thousands of time, plus ran several restaurants).

Kitchen K has redone their menu and added booths, making the restaurant more«diner-like,» which was not what I was looking for in this particular night out. I was aiming for a «cool and sexy» dinner, but I ended up eating soggy sweet potato fries surrounded by people who think that a sweatsuit is acceptable attire for going out to dinner on a Saturday night. Oh, STL tourists, day trippers, and convention goers, would it kill you to dress up just a little bit when you go out to a restaurant?! So yeah, the atmosphere was a disappointment, along with my sweet potato fries, which were completely drenched in oil. This may be a good place to go with a group, as they have plenty of seating and wide variety of items on the menu. The service was fine. But it’s a diner in downtown STL. Don’t let the minimalistic white lanterns fool you.

The desk manager at the Renaissance St. Louis Grand & Suites recommended this place, but the bellhop tried to veer me away. I’m going to have to side with the front desk. The tricked-out comfort food was good, the atmosphere was cool and comfortable, and the service was friendly and attentive. Hooray for Diet Dr. Pepper on tap.

The Gumbo is excellent. That is all that needs to be said about this amazing place. But there is more. The food is tasty, fresh, and excellent. The only thing keeping it from 5 stars is the semi-so-so-crappy service.

We were in town for the weekend and looking for a place to eat lunch; there were a couple of conventions going on, so Kitchen K was packed when we popped by. The situation seemed pretty dire — food backed up at the expo stand, the host a little vague — so we figured, probably this is unusual traffic, no worries, we’ll try another time. We came back the following night and were seated promptly. The atmosphere is very nice — high ceilings, exposed brick, a nice combination of new and old. Our house salads were very generous and quite good; I’m not sure but I think I detected some herbs, maybe even basil. My sister and my mom got the fried chicken & mashed potatoes. I got the steak frites. The chicken was OK; sadly, the potatoes were not warm and even more unfortunately, had a slight adhesive quality to them. My steak was good, although quite seasoned; and the fries, I regret to say, were seasoned within an inch of their lives. I am a lover of the potato, and I felt that perhaps the proper love for the potato itself was not in evidence, obscured as it was by other things. No matter. The service was adequate: friendly, but not sufficiently attentive. My sister hates broccoli. H-A-T-E-S it. So, she asked if they could sub out asparagus, which the waiter cheerfully approved. However, when the plates came out, there was the broccoli. By the time we flagged him down, it was clear he didn’t remember so we just let it go. Maybe it wasn’t the best night. I’m not sure. It was fine, but I won’t go out of my way to try it again, should I return to St Louis.

KitchenK is an awesome place to go for lunch. The place is speedy; well, speedy for being in the heart of downtown, and the food is quite nice too. KitchenK is a great alternative to many of the lunch alternatives that are out there. I had the Baja Chicken Enchilada. It was nice and tasty. It had pepper jack cheese, onions, and bell peppers with of course, chicken with a nice sauce. The Baja Chicken Enchilada was nice and tasty and provided just enough food to fill me up but not over stuff me.

Kitchen K was a nearby lunch option when in St. Louis on business. I’m used to having a range of options for lunch being from DC, but this seemed to be «it» aside from an Irish pub and deli on the street. The menu had lots of choices but nothing out of the ordinary. I settled for the roast beef au jus and was satisfied. Nothing out of the ordinary. Others in my lunch party were satisfied just the same with their mahi sandwich and the pasta special, but not extraordinarily. The décor is nice and I would imagine this place is more happening at night.

Just OK. I wouldn’t go back. Service was friendly enough. Décor is cool, and it has an open kitchen, which is always fun. Those were the pros. I didn’t get one of the wines I ordered. We ordered drinks, and after about 15 minutes our server looked at us with alarm, and made a beeline for the bar. He came back with our drinks plus the table’s next to us. Both me and my neighbor had a white wine, and I watched him look at the two white wines with confusion, and then guess. He didn’t admit he guessed, but it was clear to me. I am certain they were not the right wines. I watched my neighbor gulp my better and pricier wine while I drank his sweet tart drink. I should have said something, but how to prove it’s wrong, ya know? The food was mediocre. Had vegetable tempura appetizer. Not good tempura. It was heavy and dark and too bready. Not light and flavorful like tempura should be. The dips and chips sampler had a VERY strong cumin taste in the hummus and guacamole. I like cumin, but this was way too strong. Didn’t taste anything else. The salsa clearly used canned tomatoes, which were way too big. The best thing we ordered was the red thai salad, which really pulled off the curry flavor and retained the good taste of the veggies. It’s basically a slaw, but well worth it. Not terrible, but not something I’d recommend. The next night we went to Mosaic across the street and had much better food!

I really wanted this place to be fantastic. I took my boyfriend here while we were in town visiting my family. I was hoping to show him a wonderful time and I had seen the menu and thought it should be really something. We went on a rainy afternoon for lunch and the place was empty. Our waitress barely spoke to us and only came to take our order, bring the food, and bring the check. They were also out of my original choice which was very dissapointing. I ended up with the vegetable lasagna which was indeed very good. The rest of our food was just ok though, so i doubt i’ll head back here again.

This place is slow & horrible. We, as a group of 9, were there for the labor day weekend. It looked like an up-scale restaurant with its dim candle lights, which was so dark that we had to use our cell phone lights to read the menu. In the first 30 mins, no one brought us the menu and we had to ask for the menu! In addition, I had to ask for bread for 4 times before they were served. It took them a total of 2 hours to get food ready for everyone in our group. What’s worse, there is a mandatory 18% tips for such horrible service. Definitely won’t go back to this place any more.

I was traveling for work and of course I have to eat so I stopped into this locale for lunch during the week(yeah so what I was by myself?!?) and had a great experience. I looked over the menu and found it tough to decide which meal to get. I decided on a lunch special of steak tacos. It came with 2 tortillas with the steak and cheese melted inside them along with a salsa, guacamole, fresh shredded lettuce, sour cream and a fried rice. For $ 7.95 I couldn’t have asked for more. I also managed to get a slice of carrot cake that was something out of a Top Chef show(or so I’d imagine). The frosting and cake layers were tasty without being too«sugar-y». I usually share deserts with a Miss Brianna W, but this was good enough to finish all by myself. The staff was friendly and very helpful. I also like the new age design and open air, loft feeling with a lot of exposed timber. Next time I’m in the ‘Lou for leisure I plan on stopping in for dinner and to the bar next door.

This place has to be the best place to get some lunch downtown. It is located in a large loft space(very large) with a bar at one end. The entire room is exposed brick with and painted blue metal… The art is amazing as well. The food is just as contemporary as the atmosphere. Expect exciting things out of even the most boring dish at this place… Great pre-club/bar hop restaurant!
