Kevin’s Place

What can I say about Kevin’s Place? It would be like taking a picture of the moon with a flip phone and showing it to you. Nothing I say will accurately capture the beauty of it all.
The pizza was great. The Dateline Mystery episode on behind our table was great. The cat was great. Kevin was great. It was great.
I have nothing negative to say about my trip here. It was probably one of my favorite dining experiences of all time.
But you gotta get out there and see that beautiful moon for yourself.

Seriously though, the pizza is great if Kevin could just get it together. Truly fantastic, absolutely one of the best St. Louis Style’s in the city, but the rudeness and terrible phone skills are kind of a deterrent to the average Joe. Thankfully it’s also entertaining to hear Kevin curse and bitch about the most tedious parts of running a small business. So you can count on my continued business, I just can’t guarantee I’ll get my order filled everytime. That’s how good it is.

So, I gotta be honest, I’ve had nothing but amazing experiences with Kevin. (Although I believe ALL of the negative reviews.) I’ve done delivery twice, and both times he’s had my pizza to me in 20 minutes, pipping hot. It’s amazing. We’ve also eaten in and experienced firsthand the all-​star team of one, cooking, serving, working the cash register, and taking deliveries. Fortunately, we were the only people in the place, so we didn’t have any problems.
St. Louis style pizza, which is my jam. If you’re a local business fan and willing to take a chance, I’d recommend checking this place out.

There are a lot of places to get mediocre pizza, but few despise your business as much as Kevin’s Place.

He told us to leave because he had a delivery.

Well I have to say we went out of our comfort zone and were VERY pleased. We arw usually imos fans but since moving to Lafayette Square, we havent been satisfied with our thin crust pizza options down here.
After searching Unilocal for pizza, Kevins Place came up. We went for it! Kevin now has a new, loyal customer.
It was th e right price, service and quality. This pizza was DELISH.

So, we have ordered from Kevin’s a couple of times. We really like the pizza, but the place is a bit understaffed. We also had a bad experience when trying to place an order. Kevin was talking to other people at the same time as taking my call and was kind of rude on the phone. He said that he was too busy to make a salad that we wanted and got a little upset because a pizza was burning. He was clearly too busy to be talking to me, so I just told him to forget about it and hung up. He called me back shortly and was rude because I had hung up on him. He said «Jeez– tough neighborhood.»
It’s a shame because the food here is really pretty good and we live nearby too, so it’s convenient. I’m a little bummed, though, that the customer service isn’t great (and it was the owner!) and I’m even more bummed that he blamed it on my neighborhood! I hate to say that I won’t return because I really like to support small businesses around here, but dang…

Pretty terrible ordering experience. Yikes. Hopefully the pizza is far better than the service.

We were on the southside last night looking for some really good pizza! We googled pizzeria and Kevin’s Place was on the list! Reviews were positive and they deliver! OMG pizza and wings were out of this world delicious! We ended up having to share our large pizza with like 8 people (unplanned)!! We live in West St Louis county, but will be making the trip back south to Kevin’s Place! We had the Beacon pizza with half green olives! I’m getting hungry again talking about it!

Ordered pizza and wings for delivery. The driver was fast, polite and had change.
The wings were baked (nice change of pace) and the sauce was unique (not just franks redhot). I would have taken a picture of the pizza but it was too good we destroyed it. I will be ordering again!

Got take out from here based on a recommendation. Not only was the pizza delicious, it was the hottest pizza I’ve ever had delivered. It was as though he had an oven in his car. We ordered a supreme, and the crust was crispy, as was the bacon. The sauce is sweet, and whatever sausage they use is awesome. I don’t like St. Louis style pizza so I did get mozzarella cheese. This is some of the best thin crust pizza I’ve had.

I am not one to write poor reviews but I experienced horrible customer service. I called tonight at 7pm and expected that I would simply order my food and watch my movie. A frazzled owner answered the phone (he identified himself) and asked me what I would be ordering. When I told him I wanted wings but not pizza, he said «well, I am super busy and it’s one thing for you to order wings and pizza but another for you to want just wings. I have people staring down my fade and wanting pie and pizza. I have a great deal of things to do including not burn the food I am cooking. I run this business, not the city.» With that he hung up. To say the service was horrible, is an understatement of epic proportions. Particularly given the flyer with $ 2 «fast delivery «and that I was 0.9 miles away. Yeah … Not cool. I certainly won’t patronize this establishment. I would give less than one star if I could. There are better, more professional and appropriate ways to have addressed this.

came here on a whim after our initial restaurant had a long wait and i’m so glad we did. this little pizza place is a true mom and pop type restaurant. the weather was so nice that we were able to sit outside in their cute patio area. the service was quick, no frills but delicious! we had the sweet and spicy wings and a large thin crust pizza with whatever toppings we wanted for a great price.
they also do delivery. i will definitely be back.

Great pizza in a cute setting. We came after the Unilocal event at Whisk a block away.
Kevin greeted us and we ordered a pizza to go with mozzarella cheese and pepperoni. The pizza took less than 15 minutes… maybe even 10 min for it to be ready.
We looked around the place and there is a really cute side area to dine outside with maybe 5 or so tables.
The pizza itself was great and we ate most of it on the drive home. I will come back to Kevin’s next time I am in the area and not wanting Mexican food.

I like the place, and I love the pizza. The manager is friendly and the atmosphere is welcoming. It looked like he has a nice outdoor area with lots of room, too!
A small pizza with one topping comes out to $ 7.90 and was enough for me to eat and be satisfied with.
The pizza itself is great. No complaints at all. I got just a regular pepperoni and now I have to go back and try his other varieties.

I have never had Provel before and I am sorry, not good. I think that if you are looking for good St louis pizza this place is great but I would go with the all mozz mix and no provel.
I loved that the people there were very friendly and fun.
We grabbed a pizza and sat outside while searching for some vintage gems!

Very delicious pizza for the location, I have not had many pizza places in the Benton park soulard area but this is a good St. Louis style pizza. It is not the real stl style becuase it uses a provel blend and not 100% provel but still excellent pizza.
Customer service can be a hit it miss with the always busy owner, so do t let that change ur mind the food is worth it if u want a good pizza on Cherokee street.

We are BIG, BIG fans of Kevin’s Place and LOVE this pizza. This is a small storefront type of place that kinda looks like he’s cooking your pizza back in his own kitchen.
The furniture is a mix of all sorts of different styles and there is a nice patio on the side to sit. This is kinda like going over to your uncle’s place for dinner… there is even a cute cat to sit by you and beg for pizza. :)
Most of the time we get out pizza delivered… and he’s usually pretty fast.
This is a St. Louis style pizza and you have to be careful not to tilt the box or it will all slide to one side.
If you are not a snob about how a pizza place should look… you’ll LOVE Kevin’s place too. :)

So this place is right next to The Mud House in Cherokee Antique Row. First of all I have to discuss the shop before I even get on about the food. Upon entering there was a cat that greeted me which I thought a little odd. It didn’t really bother me as long as it didn’t get into my food, which the cat didn’t. I also thought that I might have entered the wrong place because it seriously looked like a house.
Now about the pizza, I got a small one topping (sausage) pizza which cost about $ 7.50. You can choose either provel or mozzarella cheese, I got provel. I thought it was really good! I’m new to the area thus new to the St. Louis style pizza, this style of pizza is really thin crust. I personally liked it because I was able to eat more than the usual amount of slices because it wasn’t full of dough. There was a generous amount of toppings and it wasn’t oily and soggy.
The owner is really nice. He had to make a delivery while my friend and I were there so he just went ahead and delivered and left us here. He’s really cool and chill so the place definitely gives off the same vibe. I’m definitely coming back, and next time I’ll try the wings!
