The delivery service is really good. The sandwiches are huge for the price. The house dressing is really tasty. The artichoke salad is super addictive.

First of all, the place was extremely clean… and I am really picky about that. We didn’t know the place even existed, since it is located on a part of The Hill that we have never been to. Not a big place, but the service is friendly and the food is good. We had hot sandwiches, house salad, and chili. Coke products… hooray! Very generous portions. The sandwiches were piled so high, I had to squish mine to eat it, and after eating half a house salad, my husband had to finish my half sandwich for me! One thing I really liked was the fact that you could get the lunch specials on the weekend; a great value! We even purchased some of their house-made Italian sausage to take home and put out on the grill! Definitely going back… we bought a punch card for $ 5 off each time you go! Another plus… they are open on Sundays and that is quite unusual for The Hill.

Cute little hole in the wall sandwich shop. I’ve been here twice and been very pleased both times. The joe fassi combo and roman torpedo are great. Definitely coming back!

Terrible. Worst place in the hill I’ve tried. If you want a crappy sandwich this is the place for you. Bread is nothing special. Even with asking for garlic cheese bread still not good. Couldn’t even tell a difference. The number 13 hot sandwich is what I got. It had 1 slice a roast beef on it. If your in the hill and looking for a great sandwich shop please save yourself from going here. It’s not even cheap. It was 10 bucks for that sub. If you want to go to a bad ass deli go to gioias it right down the street. One of the best delis in stl period.

Tried the homemade sausage #10 on menu. Really flavorful, nicely spiced. The garlic bread was very nice. Real garlic not powder. The sandwich comes with provel cheese. Typically I’m not a fan of it but it came together nicely with all other flavors. Small outside seating available. Nice staff. Clean charming interior.

Ventured out today to find a new place and landed on The Hill. Joe Fassi’s had just been opened for about 10 minutes, so we decided to grab some lunch! The place has been here 70 years! Homemade Italian Sausage and Meatballs, Sandwiches and Subs. Hubby ordered the«Poor Boy» and said it was really, really good. Very fresh and he loved the«special sauce». I ordered the meatball sub and was asked, by Joe himself, if I wanted that served on garlic cheese bread or no. I said«Surprise me!» Let me tell ya, the garlic cheese bread was the way to go! I also ordered a side of their fresh Olive Salad! Everything was so good! I keep saying«fresh» because it was exactly that! There was so much to choose from. He could tell it was our first time there and offered some of their best sellers. Can’t wait to go back and try something else!!!

I’m beginning to love this place more and more. He recently updated his menu. While the menu still includes my favorite, the American Bite, it now comes as a subnini(which is a toasted sub). Still the same delicious ingredients and sauce, but now the sub is toasted. YUM! I would highly recommend taking advantage of the Gold Gift Card Program. You get 6 $ 5 coupons to Joe Fassi’s for $ 15. The only caveat is that you have to spend $ 10 per visit, which isn’t hard. In addition to the delicious subs, they also have a pasta of the day. I have now had the spaghetti and the mostaccioli. Both were really good. i also loved that the spaghetti included angel hair pasta… yum! I can’t wait to see what other pastas they serve throughout the week. In addition to over 25 subs, he also has salads, chips, cookies, and meatballs. The place itself is small and cozy with about 8 tables and a counter in back. I’ve never had to wait long for a sandwich and have been pleased with the service thus far. Their prices are also reasonable and I think they deliver now. Definitely my favorite place to get a sandwich on the hill.

horrible situation. went through grubhub and had a few things delivered… everything was different than presented online. ex: we ordered the«garlic cheese bread» which is fine, except that it’s covered in marinara. this isn’t disclaimed online on any site and my friend is allergic to tomoatoes. plus, the«panini» isn’t really a panini. it’s served much as a sub sandwich would. finally, for the food prep portion, grubhub says that it comes with a side of chips. upon contacting the restaurant, they stopped serving a side of chips a year ago. joe fassi’s responsibility to update the site… being tossed around from number to number to express my concerns, i was told by the manager on duty at joe fassi to call back in 10 minutes. in that wait time, i made contact and was refunded for the garlic cheese bread(due to the lack of disclaimer for tomatoes) and whatnot. the manager on duty did follow through with grubhub and, eventually, call me back. initially came off a little rude, but, came through in the end.

This is hands down the best sandwich shop on the Hill. House made sausages and meat balls!

Amazing! This was a drive by and we decided to stop on in; so glad we did! I loved the atmosphere, family photos and newspaper clippings. The lady behind the counter was so nice and helpful. The sandwiches are big and delicious. I wish I lived in the area-there are just too many choices to settle on one. The potato salad was delicious as well. You can’t go wrong dipping in for lunch, it’s great!

NOT open on Sundays as stated here on Unilocal and posted on the door. Absolutely a joy to find out after the ¾+ mile trek from my hotel.

Love this deli! They have really good and really cheap sandwiches of all kind. Really friendly staff, I always see the owner working behind the counter when I go there. Everything is made fresh from him once you order. There are a ton of choices, and even some pasta and salads. Great little deli for a quick lunch. If you’re looking for a basic/good /cheap sandwich place with good service, this is your place.

A solid sandwich shop, no fancy bells or whistles just step up to the counter and pick your number. I was surprised at the choices and large selection, over 25 subs plus pasta, soups and salads. No alcohol, not that you would expect it. I ordered the #10 salsiccia w/cheese(apparantly their famous recip handed down over 80 years) and it was delish! A friend had the #16 beef n gravy, also an excellent sub. I’m going to be back in the cold months to try a few more hot subs for sure.

Went back and tried their hot salami sandwich. Different than most around the hill. It was like a split bratwurst in appearance, but tasted like salami. Topped with provel, onions and, I think sportpeppers, and mustard. It was really good. Chips and a soda for about 9 bucks. I like this place for lunch.

«Atsa meal!» This phrase has been proclaimed several times since my first visit to Joe Fassi Sandwich Factory some time ago. It came from a picture of Benito Mussolini with this humorous caption. Whether or not Benito actually said this, I will never know. Joe Fassi sits square in the middle of the Hill neighborhood, so much to the point that it almost blends in with the other houses. I could not imagine living across the street from this gorging factory because it would surely be detrimental to my health. They have their clear local cliental. The workers seem to know the customers’ names, which gives it a sense of community and family. I really enjoy Joe’s food. All meatballs and sausages are made in house, which again calls upon the feelings of home. With no surprise, I went savory with the meatball sandwich, and my wife chose spicy with the Vince Fassi Salsiccia Slam, a combo of homemade sausage and roast beef. Add an order of garlic cheese bread and side of spaghetti, and atsa meal! Check out the back wall dedicated the local hero Yogi Berra, one of my favorite parts of Joe Fassi. Apparently, the Hall of Fame catcher has been there once or twice over the years. The place is covered with old photos and articles because its history is steep, something worth displaying. Joe Fassi’s might be a little hard to find but worth a visit.

A solid 3 stars. My first visit I did a take-out with a muffalata sandwich(around $ 8) and a bowl of chili(around $ 3). The chili was a bit disappointing, very tomato-saucey and one-note, but not bad if you’re craving a hot bowl of chili. The sandwich was pretty decent. I wish it was sliced in half and the olives had been diced a little more, but on the whole it was a good sandwich. Second time was a eat-in, this time I went with the daily specials — a meatball sandwich and french onion soup($ 12 total including tax). Let’s start with the bad — the soup. It was pretty tasteless. Some sort of powdery cheese on top which added nothing. No, not good. The meatball sandwich came in two halves with four large(presumably housemade) meatballs with marinara and a little cheese on top. I enjoyed it but I was hoping for a little more oomph. I definitely liked the atmosphere of the place, it’s got character. They often have Gropoun Now deals where you can save 4 bucks. I used this both times and they handled it smoothly. Give em a shot if you’re in the neighborhood. I’d stick with the sandwiches and avoid any soups or chilis.

You gotta love the Hill. Unless you have to park, that is. And I do appreciate tradition, especially in this neighborhood. So we had high hopes for Joe Fassi’s coming in — the pictures and articles on the wall feature the elder Fassi generation, whose names are tied with a few of the sandwiches. It’s a cute little place and looks to be run by the family — one friendly, one gruff. On the Hill, it’s kind of what I’d expect. Unfortunately food didn’t meet our expectations. We’re big big fans of Adriana’s, so that give you some idea of what we like. We had three sandwiches: the Joe Fassi Combo, the Family Favorite and the Carl Fassi Italian Perfecto. Part of the problem was the bread. It was good and fresh, but it was kind of like an unsliced Wonder loaf than what I think of as Italian. This might just be a matter of personal preference. Same with the sweet onions and sweet sauce they put on their sandwiches. Maybe you’ll love it. We didn’t. The bread was fresh and the ingredients all seemed to be high quality, so I chalk this up as personal preference.

Hands down the nicest people I’ve done business with on The Hill. I’ll go back simply for the ambiance! We split a large Pronzo salad(Mixed green lettuce, black olives, home made olive salad, onions, ham, salami, parmesan cheese, pepperoncini topped with Joe Fassi Italian dressing) This is a perfect salad for any season, light enough for the heat like today and heavy enough for a cold winters day. Great tasting salad, not too oily, not too salty with all the olives in it. I just raved how good this salad was. It was probably big enough to split 3 ways if eating a half sandwich. We also split the Beef & Gravy(a top Round Roast Beef served with melted Provel, onions and pickles and Gravy). I would ask for a extra provel next time and no pickles. It’s a very good sandwich and the steak is wonderfully tender and juicy. I just like a lot of that salty goodness on my beef. The pickles are actually a very good high quality sweet pickle. I just am a traditionalist and prefer meat cheese and onions nada more. Great selection of other sandwiches on the menu, their regularly on Groupon Now and have printable coupons on their website so check it out. I love Adriana’s but this is my first choice now. It’s got great seating, off the beaten path a bit and a wonderful bar stool seating window that would be great on a cold winters day. Another thing, they have tons of condiments stacked neatly at every table and bar stool so not a lot of running to get extra stuff when it’s right in front of you. They make great use of the space and its very clean. One last thing, whats up with all the wooden Buddha statues in an Italian Catholic Bathroom? I’m just saying… LOL Guess it’s one way to help keep the peace in a small space. Great people who deserve your service, they crowned my Mother their new spokesperson and were just so genuinely nice!!!

Bottom Line: Fresh Ingredients, Gem In The Rough Location, Nostalgic Sodas Would Complete this Package, Wi-Fi Overview: Before Groupon and all that kind of jazz, I had passed this establishment many a time on my bicycle while climbing the hill on Sublette. Most likely due to exhaustion, the memory of this place was only short-term. It wasn’t until cashing in on my Groupon recently that I recalled seeing this place many years ago and always thinking, «I need to stop here.» Food: John Carney’s Supreme: Basically, this is a sausage sandwich with dressings. Honestly, I ordered this because I know John Carney likes food and figured he might have something special here. Well, although fresh, I was not impressed with the sandwich. I think this is no fault of the proprietor. I just don’t care for sausage sandwiches, really. So, I don’t want anyone to come away thinking this is a bad sandwich. However, if you don’t like sausage sandwiches, you most likely will not enjoy this. Herr’s Hot Sauce Chips + Herr’s BBQ Ribs Chips: Both of these chips stand up well on their own, however, I think when I am eating such a flavor filled sandwich, it is best to go with a plain chip. Word to the wise. Drinks: As I said in my «bottom line», it would only complete the feel of this place if they stocked old time or nostalgic sodas. They do have a Coca-Cola machine, which says more to me than Crown Candy with its cost-cutting Pepsi machine. Dessert: Home-Made Molasses Cookie: I know this cookie might not be for everyone, but«wow», you did a good job, Joe, with this cookie! Nice and soft with powdered sugar on top to give it that little extra bit of goodness. Summary: As I mentioned, I would bike past this shop. Reason being is that this shop is on a low-traffic street, which is great for cyclists. That said, it is just about a block over from busy Hampton Avenue. You really need to take that extra bit of effort and come give Joe Fassi’s a try. I think once you do, this place will be something you remember for years to come.

Came back again on my other LivingSocial and asked the owner, Tom, how his full-court-press social networking was going… he had done Groupon, Living Social, and St. Louis Daily Deals all within the space of two weeks. «It’s great,» he told me. «Our margins are high enough that we don’t lose in that way like other restaurants do and we’ve increased our customer base by 30%. My website traffic is up from 800 hits a month to 4000.» Chalk up a win for a small business owner and one for the casual customer who will stumble in for a great sandwich. Yesterday I had the #23, a salsiccia sausage with peppers and onions. Delish. Had the chili too — but wasn’t the best I’d ever had. Stick to the sandwiches and pasta. Also had some homemade gooey butter cookies. Awesome.
