Great basic Indian food with nice ambiance. Attentive service, and the food was yummy. We had the crab cake appetizer and then shared the Navratan Korma and Aloo Gobi. None of it was particularly unique of special but definitely tasty and exactly what I wanted.

I’ve never really had indian food before. My husband was craving it so we decided to visit Rasoi. First of all, the service was excellent. There were a couple of gentlemen tending to us so we never waited for anything. We started off with beef samosas which were really tasty. For our entrees I had the Tandoori chicken and my husband had Chicken Tikka Marsela(sp?) along with plain Naan bread. Both were really good. We will definitely return. The prices were pretty good, too.

Food variety is not good and even taste has deteriorated. Bill shows customer have to pay certain % of gratuity. Why someone has to pay gratuity if he/she eating buffet? Not recommended.

The absolute best! I have ate at many Indian restaurants between Nashville and St. Louis. They all seemed the same until I tried India Rasoi. I don’t know what else to say other than it is so full of flavor and so good! I will mention one thing. I have noticed a bit of a difference between the lunch buffet and dinner. The buffet seems to be a bit tastier. Enjoy

This place is great. We went here for a large dinner to celebrate a college graduation and made reservations that same morning for a party of 10 that Thursday night. Assuming we wouldn’t get in anywhere on college graduation day in a college town, we were surprised they were able to accommodate, and they were. The service was great. Our waiter was very attentive and made great suggestions on the menu. He definitely tried to upsell us and offer more appetizer portions than we needed, etc., but the food was delicious and everything we tried and ordered was good. Especially good was the tikka masala(we had it with shrimp) and chicken curry. Nothing comes with rice or naan, so just a heads up to order that yourself. The portions are a decent size and the food came out fast and hot for a party of our size. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and is really nicely decorated. Parking is a little tough, but it’s definitely a spot to go to for a nice dinner or date.

I’ve been here a couple of times, once for dinner and once for the lunch buffet and the food has been pretty good. Biriyani is excellent! A little pricy but I would recommend.

My favorite Indian food place in the city — always excellent– fresh food and friendly service! Go during lunch and try the buffet for a variety of flavors — the chicken Tikki is awesome! Construction is nuts on Euclid and Pine right now, but worth the hassle– A++++

It’s been about five years since I’ve visited Rasoi and there was hesitation that the quality may have suffered in my absence. Well, the hesitation proved to be unnecessary. The waitstaff was very attentive and kind, and the atmosphere is very vibrant, especially during the lunch buffet. The food is so good! The chicken Tikka is a favorite for me, but I also enjoy the aloo. Come here for an affordable lunch buffet— you won’t be disappointed.

Another good find in the CWE. I’m not really a connoisseur of Indian food. I’ve had a buffet and Rasoi’s food a couple times. That said, this p;ace is very good. Indian food can be overwhelming with spices for sure, but from what I’ve tried at Rasoi, I’ve been satisfied. Many people rave about their dessert pudding, I didn’t find it particularly good, but to be fair I haven’t found many that share that opinion. I’ll give this place another shot I’m sure when a craving hits.

After reading reviews from fellow Unilocalers, I told Majordomo that they have a lunch buffet that has been getting good ratings. The restaurant was crowded and after waiting a short time, we were seated. I wish I could tell you all the names of the dishes I tried, but they had such very complicated names that I cannot remember. Suffice it to say, everything I tried was delicious. The chicken Marsala was good as was every dish I tried. They also have a small salad bar and a dessert that I thought was rice pudding. It was very sweet. Majordomo thought everything was very good. I asked if they had the same dishes every day but was told they switch items out every so often. Would I come back again? Yes, I would love to try this again.

Pleasant, nice Indian restaurant in central west end. They have nice lunch buffet that cost around 11 dollars. Some curry entrees and tikka masala are a little too salty, but the they have several entrée that are not as well. They usually have around 6 to 7 entrees with rice, naan, salad, pakora, and dessert. The food, in general, taste good though! I brought several friends here, and they have all loved it. Customer service is always great as well. I highly recommend going here for lunch.

Tried and true! It’s been a while since my last review of India Rasoi. Typically, I go to the buffet, which is honestly the best route. However, my friend’s birthday was this week, and she wanted to have Rasoi for the first time in years. Who was I to say no? In other words, if you’re curious about the buffet, look at my first review. We got a late start on Monday. In fact, I called ahead to make sure that we wouldn’t close down the place. Apparently, they are open until ten during the week, so we had plenty of time for some dinner. Sometimes it helps to have fresh perspective on a staple. My friend ordered vegetable Samosa, spiced stuff pastries. I really enjoyed their spicy, potato-y goodness! She ordered Vegetable Chettinad, «mixed vegetables cooked in a coconut sauce tempered with herbs and spices,» and I went with my normal Chicken Tikka Masala and plain naan. Rasoi is definitely not cheap at dinnertime. Between the appetizer, two dishes, and naan, the meal ran about $ 42. However, a price well-paid for some of the best Indian food in town! Also, they don’t skimp on the portions and rice, so there was plenty to take home for lunch the next day. The service was fantastic. I know the waiter from lunch time buffets, and he’s always good to me. He was also very patient as we did end up closing the place down. In the end, I still prefer the buffet, mostly because it’s much cheaper and the options are plentiful. Nonetheless, India Rasoi is still a great dinner spot if you cannot make the buffet hours.

My husband and I tried their buffet today and were very pleasantly surprised! This place is beautiful, clean and plays great music! The buffet is small, but still seemed to offer a decent amount of choices. Even more importantly, everything was very flavorful and well done! I particularly enjoyed the Chicken Tikka Massala, which isn’t usually one of my favorites. But this place seemed to have a slightly different seasoning than I’ve had elsewhere. We’ll definitely be coming back to this place again soon!

I don’t write a lot of reviews. Usually only when I really really like a place or I freaking hate it. This place is not only in the really really like category it should have its own. First off let me say that I love Indian food. It’s my favorite by far. I’ve had a ton of Indian in my day. We lived in PA, TX, CA and drove through the country every time we moved. I’ve been everywhere. Anytime we go some where new we try an Indian place. We moved to St Louis about a month ago and never had the time to check this place out yet until tonight. And boy was the worth wait it. I ordered the lamb vindaloo and my wife ordered paneer tiki masala. I have to say that was some of the best tiki masala either of us has ever had. It was seriously amazing. I am writing this from the restaurant because it was so good and I am so full I wanna puke. But if I ordered more of the masala id puke and rally it’s that damn good. I also ordered the garlic and cheese naan. I will never look at naan the same way again. Absolutely amazing from start to finish. If you love Indian food or if you are even on the fence, come here. Order any of the tiki masalas. They will change your life!

Came here for their lunch buffet. It was meh, the dishes weren’t being turned over and they ran out of many dishes an hour after their lunch buffet began. Their dishes were interesting but for the price I won’t be going back to this lunch buffet.

I ordered some lunch from here in the last week, and overall the food was pretty decent. I will say that the food was a bit overly salty, and my biggest complaint was in regards to the pricing. 2 entrees and an appetizer(with some naan) was around 40 bucks. That seems to be a bit pricier than what I would expect for good Indian fare. I am thinking that the buffet is likely a better value, so I would be willing to check them out again for a dine-in experience.

So I’ve only been here for the buffet and everything on it was delicious. I love chicken tikka masala. I grab some of that stuff and rice everytime I go to get food. There is this vegetable dish that is broccoli, carrots, and soy beans(?) in a yellow sauce that is really good too. I also love the naan there, but that should go without saying. I enjoy all things bread related. Now on for the rest of the review. The buffet has a good amount of different options to choose from there is of course the items I listed above along with some type of curry meatball, tandoori chicken, a mushroom and onion dish, and a few other things. It doesn’t look like a huge buffet, but it has a nice spread with different flavors that are really tasty. I enjoyed it. They do have one type of dessert on the buffet that I didn’t care for, but my friends love and they say that is really good. Service is always great. People constantly run around refilling everyone’s drinks. Which is really nice considering how spicy some of the food can get. They are also nice to everyone and helpful when asked. Wouldn’t come here all the time because of costs, but if I’m really craving Indian food this has to be my go to place.

Ok food. Non vegetarian stuff was ok. Tandoori items were served cold. Portions of everything was too small for the price. I Had high hopes of this place after we were referred by locals but unfortunately I have been to much better Indian restaurants. Any by the way the service was slow on a relatively slow night. Seemed understaffed. I also did not appreciate the automatic 20% gratuity with less than 6 adults. I would not venture here again.

This place is amazing. I was very impressed by the ambiance, comfy booths, dim lighting, and quietness of the restaurant. I usually get the«rasoi vegetarian dinner» every time I go. It is so delicious. It truly is a feast and is cooked to perfection every time! Definitely my favorite Indian place in St. Louis so far.

My favorite Indian restaurant in St. Louis! They have a great lunch buffet and a classic dinner menu. The food is fabulous and the portions are generous. The servers are always super friendly and very on top of refilling drinks and making sure you have enough rice. If you’re into naan, give the aloo paratha a try – it’s like naan except stuffed with potatoes. Samosas are also on point.

I dined her a few weeks ago with my best friend who was in the mood for Indian food. I’m rarely *not* in the mood for Indian, so I gladly obliged. We stopped in around 7pm on a Friday and there wasn’t a wait… we even ended up with a super comfy booth. The service we received was five stars all the way, and our server was friendly, able to make suggestions, and even subbed out my naan with garlic naan(because why not?) He really did a great job. We had cocktails to start but they were pretty sweet… I suggest something off the wine list instead. The vegetable samosas were a perfect appetizer, and I loved the various sauces you get to try with them. The vegetarian sampler was fun because we got to try so many things, and it was so, so good. The chicken tikka masala was just okay, and I wasn’t a big fan of the sauce(it tasted like a mouthful of straight tomato sauce.) Overall we had a great dinner here… I’ve had Indian food in St. Louis I liked much more than at Rasoi, but the nice, relaxing atmosphere was definitely enjoyable for a Friday night.

3 stars for A-OK because it seems like I had a different experience than some of these reviews. The service was fine. The food was just okay, though. We ordered the lobster dosa, fish curry, and vegetable chettinad. The lobster dosa was tasty, but the lobster was impossible to detect and I do not think the coconut sauce/chutney that came on the side was an appropriate temperature/flavor to suit the dish. The fish curry was clearly oversalted – perhaps to obscure a lack of other spices? And the vegetables in the vegetable chettinad reminded me of frozen chopped pea/carrot/corn/green bean mix, because I’m pretty sure that’s what it was. Most Indian restaurants have the same fare, so I’m reluctant to return here when the food was less than amazing.

3 ½ stars. Should be 4 ½ but I knocked off a full star for service — you mess with the bull… I have been here twice and experienced the same poor service twice. I must say that the chefs at India Rasoi are great. This is probably the best Indian restaurant in St. Louis. I liked the food at the lunch buffet even slightly more than a certain downtown Indian restaurant which I consider fantastic. The food on the buffet tastes fresh as if it was made to order. The flavors in the food are the most pronounced I’ve ever had at an Indian buffet in any city. I’ve been to a few. The service is just plane rude. The man that sat us the first time sat me this time. Both times I asked for a booth and he was visibly put out. The rest of the time he avoided eye contact even when serving water or delivering the check. The rest of the front of house is meh… All in all you may get better service than I did and if so I think you’d love IR. That said I take a star off gladly for the lack of courtesy.

I’m so glad I ignored all the whiny reviews about small portions. Newsflash, people: we’ve had ethnic restaurants in the USA for a while. Sure, maybe they served abundant portions at first, using«bang for your buck» to reel you in so you would try something unfamiliar. All of that is over now. We all know Indian food rocks. You want piles of food? Hit the Shoney’s buffet line. Tonight I had the Vegetable Samosas, Chicken Tikka Masala, and Garlic Naan. All were delicious and the portion was large enough I was able to save half(okay, maybe 40%) of my meal for the next day. I also had a Mango Lassi for dessert, which was bright and wonderful. So glad Rasoi is just a nice stroll or quick bike ride away.

YES. India Rasoi is THEBOMB! This was my special birthday meal destination 3 years in a row while living in St. Louis, plus other special occasions when friends were in town. Outstanding Indian food. I love the shrimp tikka masala, cheesy garlic naan bread, the tempura vegetables, and the vegetable samosas. Seriously, I would slice open their naan and use it like a sleeping bag and then eat my way out if I could. It’s that good. They have a great drink menu as well, and have a great room for hosting bigger parties. It’s a BEAUTIFUL restaurant. The service is friendly and helpful — I will say that if you’re in a rush, this might not be the place to sit down and enjoy a meal. It can be a longer dining experience than you’re used to, but absolutely worth the extra time. The food will blow your mind! Outstanding Indian food — one of my favorites in St. Louis.

Literally so miserably salty I could not even eat more than a few bites of it and I was STARVING. I got carry out so I was stuck with my unfortunate meal choice(chicken tikka masala and veggie Samosas). It was $ 25 very poorly spent. Would not recommend the food here at all. However the only reason I am giving 2 stars instead of one is because the hostess/waitress/manager(not sure) was exceptionally nice and when I called to complain after getting home and attempting to eat my inedible meal, she offered to give me a new one if I came back tomorrow(since I was definitely not willing to drive back tonight). I’m not sure if I’ll be in the mood for this dish anytime soon after this experience, but it’s good to know they at least care about the quality of your experience and are willing to right their wrongs.

We went to dinner on a Friday evening, a little early. The interior is quite pleasant and welcoming. The colors transport you out of Saint Louis and into an exotic locale. Many foreign food restaurants have tuned their menu to the local tastes and Rasoi is no exception. They only have sweet(Mango and Strawberry) Lassi on the menu but when I asked the waiter if they had a salty version he was very agreeable to having it made for me! It was a perfect complement to our meal. We decided to try the Rasoi recommendation of the Rasoi Feast — wanting to try a little of several dishes rather than just one. While some might say the meat portions were small, I personally think they were perfectly proportioned. Having eaten at MANY Indian restaurants I can say that the flavors were quite«traditional». Everything was well cooked both tandoor and wet curry. If you like it spicy, please let your waiter know or they will serve it with no spice whatsoever.(They do, however, serve chutneys so that you can spice it up a bit if you like.) The meal also came with dessert — not just one but two different desserts. We could not finish everything but that is always good as it makes a wonderful lunch the following day for someone. ;) They do have a lunch buffet, including on weekends, if you think you want to try a sampling. And there is public parking right beside the restaurant so, no worries.
