Hi Fi Fo… Fuckup. So I hate writing vulgar one-star reviews, but in this case, it just has to be done. After years of trudging outside in the snow/cold/ice to start my car in the morning, I decided that an automatic car starter was in my future. Starting my car from the comfort of my home? Entering a warm toasty car instead of a freezing cold one? Count me in! I called my favorite mechanic to see if they could install it on my Saturn. Unfortunately they couldn’t. I kept calling around, and saw some good reviews on Hi Fi. I decided to give them a call. I spoke to one of the employees over the phone, and he said that they do indeed install automatic car starters. But since I drive a newer car, they’d need to order a specific part for it. Fine. They told me how much it would cost and that I’d need to pay a 75% down payment. That total came to about $ 350 and some change. Ouch. Fine. The guy told me the part would arrive in about a week, and they’d call when it came in so I could schedule an appointment to get it installed. A week later, I didn’t get a phone call. Curious, I called Hi Fi to see if the part had arrived. I was again told that it would be there in a week. Why didn’t they call me and keep me updated? I have no idea. In the meanwhile, they had $ 350 of my moolah. Fast forward to THREEWEEKSLATER. Truth be told, I had forgotten about Hi Fi and my automatic car starter. But I remembered and called them up. I spoke to the same guy I initially spoke with. I was really pissed at this point, not because I’m impatient, but because Hi Fi didn’t keep me in the loop. The guy told me that the part was held up in customs and that it was put on the wrong ship. The wrong SHIP? What is this, 1921? My part is arriving to the US on a SHIP? He told me it should arrive«in mid-January or so». Mid January ORSO? Why didn’t anyone call and tell me this? Sorry, but I’m not cool with being kept out of the loop, especially when they have a chunk of change from me in the meanwhile. So these guys can’t call a paying customer to update about the status of a part, and I’m supposed to trust them to fiddle around in my car to install it? No thank you. I(politely as I could) requested a refund, and the guy complied. We’ll see if I get this refund in my account. I don’t know, maybe that will get stuck in «customs» too. I’m fully prepared to dispute this charge if need be. Hi Fi Fo Fum, never again. Never ever EVER again.

Because I’m a genius that left her sunroof open during a torrential down pour, I recently found myself in need of a new car stereo. Because I despise all things related to Best Buy and I am not so enthralled by the idea of those $ 1 install places, I decided to head over to Hi Fi Fo Fum and check out what they had to offer. I had never been in the store, but I have been driving by it for years. Also, who can forget the old radio commercials with the hi fi fo fum giant voice? Ok, I might be the only one that remembers that one… but whatever. The selection here was quite impressive. The staff was really knowledgeable and did not even mock me when I told them how I had damaged my own stereo. They helped me pick something out that was in my price range but that wasn’t a piece of junk and honestly, it’s a great little radio. I was thrilled by my service at Hi Fi Fo Fum and I would most definitely go back to get anything electronic. Easily 1000 times better than any electronics shopping experience I have ever had at a Best Buy.

My husband and I love to dream about our first future house, and wandered into Hi-Fi Fo-Fum a few days ago. The staff was nice enough to greet us and then just let us be as we explored. They have a nice home theater section that we had fun watching. The car stereo room is really impressive, as they have all these speakers on the walls. We didn’t really get into prices, as we were just browsing, but they seemed very professional.
