As «St. Louis» as T-rav’s, Ted Drews and thin pizza. The pretzel brat or pretzel dog with the Raspberry dipping sauce is so good it’s like… I mean it’s like… aw just try it, OK? It’s insanely good.

Loved this place. Ordered the brat wrapped pretzel. So good. Fresh chewy pretzel, delicious brat, what’s not to like? The menu is small, which I like. Makes for fast moving lines.

Oh boy! Methinks not. and I feel bad to give it, the one star, but when you expect someone to talk the talk about how great these pretzels are… maybe I should have walked the walk to walk far away… lets dish this. While visiting family in St. Louis, it was totally recommended by them that this was the place to get awesome pretzels. Whether pretzel bites, sticks or twists, this was the place. My sis-n-law loves the bratwurst pretzel sandwich, which I almost got, and after the entire experience, I wish I had gone with it. But to the pretzels, they were COLD! We waited for a bit after we ordered because it was busy inside and there was a line. So Since we were waiting, we thought they were being freshly made and baked in the back, but NO! We ordered 3 — Sticks and 3 twists — ALLCOLDPRETZELS in a brown bag. Ultimately bummed when we received it. I felt cheated, and I compared this devastation to the Mall versions of Pretzel mania like Auntie Anne’s or Wetzels Pretzels, which are both really decent pretzel places, and so concluded that Gus’ was an absolute disappointment. Perks: The $ for the pretzels and more are very reasonably priced. If I had a better experience, I would have totally affirmed that it was all worth it. Downsides: Small and cramped place. Very busy lines, and no tables to sit down and eat. OverALL: Sad. Came almost 2000 miles for cold pretzels. Gus’s may be fantastic for locals, but its totally a hit or miss.

Stumbled on Gus’s pretzels today with my gf! One of our best food discoveries ever! We parked on the street. The parking lot is so small. We loved watching the guys make pretzels in front of the Windows ! The hot fresh twists were only 6.00 bucks for 12 pretzels!!! An unbelievable deal! We got a couple cups of cheese sauce. This is where the minus 1 star comes from. The cheese sauce isn’t very tasty. They do take a credit card if your order is at least $ 5.00!

A base customer of ours brings us Gus’ occasionally. Those days are my favorite days. At my wedding, I will have a Gus’ Pretzel bar. It’s that good.

Gus’ pretzels is a St. Louis institution for a reason. They are the best pretzels in St. Louis. I have been to that new place in the county that some people say is better(Pretzel Boys) and it’s not. Pretzels are best when warm and fresh.

Since I have been in St Louis(about 4 months), I have been asked if I’ve been to Gus’ several times. No one has asked me if I’ve been to the Arch or the Brewery, so I am thinking this pretzel place must be AWESOME, so high on everyone’s list! I stopped in and grabbed a bratwurst and some pretzel sticks to go. The bratwurst wrapped in a pretzel is pretty good! Perfect with just a touch of mustard. The sticks are just eh. The first one I tried wasn’t hot, so it was kind of dry. It also had a ton of salt on it which was brutal to my tongue. Later I grabbed another one. Knocked most of the salt off and warmed it in the microwave. I’m sorry to say, it was still just eh. I wouldn’t go out of my way to go back, but I’d stop again if I was in the neighborhood to get a bratwurst and maybe give the take-and-bake pretzels a try. Finally, I can say Yes, I have been to Gus’.

I’ve been a consumer of these St. Louis originals since I can remember. Getting the pretzels straight from the source is amazing! I ordered several pretzel sticks– they were served HOT! I don’t think I’ve ever had a hot, fresh Gus’ pretzel before, and it was amazing. If you have not had a pretzel from the shop yet, please get in here now! I also ordered a brat wrapped in a pretzel– also delicious. They offer ketchup and mustard, too, so don’t forget the condiments. I ordered a bag of pretzel bites– these were served room temperature. Best eaten right away since they become hard in a matter of hours. They also serve frozen pretzels for you to make at home in the oven or microwave– much cheaper to buy here instead of at the local grocery store. **Bring cash– you can only use a card if you purchase more than $ 10 worth of food.**

The best pretzels in the Lou. I adore the pretzel ends and the sticks. I don’t need a dipping sauce or flavor… I like them salty. Mustards, cheese, and other item are available for purchase. These pretzels need to be eaten ASAP. They are baked fresh daily. Do not try to save them over night. They do have some frozen– bake at home, pretzels in the freezer case. Try the lunch options. Small Parking lot on the South side of the building. An STL instution.

I’ve been here for pretzels on the go, frozen pretzels in a bag, and corporate bulk purchasing. All were fast and easy to do. My favorite new thing is to buy the pretzel ends in 100 packs. When you get home you just need to spray with water, sprinkle with salt, and bake 3 – 4 minutes. If you have a party to go to they make a great snack and I find keeping some in the freezer for when friends stop by to drink means I look like the best hostess ever. I still haven’t grabbed lunch here but knowing myself I will soon. I love that Gus’ can get people through the line fast and they have their own lot in case the neighborhood is full.

I think I was expecting a big, soft, warm Philly pretzel, not the smaller, tougher, cold pretzel I received. That said, can’t beat the 55-cent price and friendly service. I’d go back and try one of the flavored pretzels or pretzel-wrapped meat offerings for sure.

Technically haven’t eaten our pretzel yet, but this place has been around for over 100 years or so someone said. And for a pretzel place to be a stand alone place for that long tells me something. So we go these to snack on for tomorrow’s Cubs vs Cardinals game.

I’m a Philadelphia girl born and raised and now I live in St. Louis and I’ve always been fanatical about my soft pretzels!!! The pretzels in Philadelphia have just the right amount of texture softness and firmness combined! And thus, I always stop for the pretzels at Gus’s. I can’t pass the store without stopping in for a pretzel stick or a sandwich on a pretzel bun!!! The people who work there are great as well!

I’ve ate here many times. The freshest pretzels you’ll find. Fast & friendly service. Bring cash. Cards not accepted. ATM on sight. I suggest the salsiccia or the bratwurst. Customer for life.

Sorry Auntie Anne… Gus is better than you. The price is right and the pretzels are tasty! Whenever I’m in St. Louis, I try to make it over to Gus’ to enjoy a pretzel. I usually have to wait in line to get a pretzel, but that’s fine, because I love to watch what’s going on inside the kitchen! I honestly think that’s part of the fun at places like this – seeing the process of something being created. If you’ve never been, try it once. It’s not going to set you back too much financially.

I got a salsiccia and I will admit, greasy, but so tasty! I would definitely recommend this place! The only reason I took away a star is because the service I received was way too slow. The lady working the cash register was by herself and it just wasn’t very time efficient. She has to deal with the cash and the food. If the food was within her reach, it’d be a different story, but it wasn’t. All the food was in the kitchen so she’d have to take your money and then go all the way to the back of the kitchen to grab your food. It just took way longer than it should’ve. Also, it’s not very convenient to have to pay in cash or buy more than $ 10 worth of pretzels when you’re ordering for one. Besides those two reason, I have no complaints. I will be coming back again!

Why does everyone have to be so hard on Ol’ Gus? Look– I love this little place– in fact, I adore it. Whats not to love? Locally owned, fresh, carb loaded pretzels– and lets not forget to mention, um hi. THEPRETZELBRAT! Um ya– I got the cheddar jalapeño brat(which was from G&W) and the Wednesday special — two things– that thing was HUGE– and it was indeed DELISH!!! Ordered a side of honey mustard– BOOM! best lunch ever. AND…and…they have Billy Goat chips– that personally makes me happy because I enjoy me some billy goat chips over plain Lays. The prices are dirt cheap, and you never get let down. Gus’s is a must when in the area— it really is… If you’re let down– well, boo on you… I will always be a fan of the pretzel brat! They also lowered the use of debit/credit cards to $ 10 now. yay!

This little pretzel store has become a must-stop whenever I am in St. Louis. On my last trip, I drove 30 minutes out of the way for these hand-held delights. I LOVE the salsiccia(Italian sausage, but not too much anise, with a little spice), but have also been known to snack on the brats, hot dogs, and pretzel sticks. The line can be long if there is an event at the stadium or downtown, but when it is busy they are making pretzels in the kitchen(which you can see through the large windows) so their is also an entertainment element(not that it is necessary when you you know that you are waiting for delicious, fresh pretzels.) They also offer sandwiches and some other assorted items, but I have only tried the pretzels and meats wrapped in pretzels. You do have to spend $ 20 to use your credit card, but get a few extra pretzel rods… they keep their fresh deliciousness for about a day or so.

I was actually impressed. Impressed with the pretzels? No. Impressed with the service? No. I was impressed with the pristine kitchen that they are prepared in. It was bright, clean and I loved the red and white tiles. It was totally not what I was expecting when I shopped. I had only bought Gus’ Pretzels from street vendors or at my local gas station or Walgreen’s. To be honest, I never knew Gus had a retail outlet until I ate Benton Café across the street. I thought they were just a wholesaler. Wow, was I wrong. The pretzels are just okay, but not as good as Wetzel’s. They’re good for the price and they are local, so I guess I have to be happy about that fact. I was wanting bites or nubs, but did not see them on the board. I later learned they call them Endz. I’ll remember that for a future visit. I instead ordered 3 Sticks and a Cinnamon & Sugar Twist. The C&S Twist had a bad taste and a worst after taste. Their sticks did taste better fresh then those from the bought from a street vendor. The staff was kind of pushy. There were three of us waiting to order and reading the board menu. We all stated we were not ready to order as we stood back behind the line to order. Different workers kept coming out and snapping, «I’ll help whoever is next». Once I placed my order, the clerk was still rather cold and rushing. I hope this was not normal service and was because they were working New Year Eve’s Day.

I’m in love. We were having lunch across the street and just happened to decide to check out Gus’s. I’m SO glad we did… first because I love pretzels but also because it was FUN! I love the look into the process of their business. I LOVE the taste of the pretzels; sweet AND salty! This is another StL place I’d be more often if I lived here!!!

If you want some damn good pretzels, Gus’ is the place to be. This St. Louis institution makes some of the best pretzels I’ve ever had. Dare I say it, I think they might be better than my Auntie Anne’s pretzels(see what I did there, lol). My friend and I wanted a light snack before dinner so we ordered a garlic butter pretzel with gooey cheddar cheese dip, a cinnamon sugar pretzel, the salsiccia pretzel sandwich, a stick and a twist. The pretzels come out piping hot and after taking a bite, you know they’re as fresh as can be. My favorite was the salciccia pretzel sandwich which consist of a pretzel wrapped around a spicy sausage. I recommend dipping in the cheddar dip. My only complaint is that the stick and twist pretzels had a really thick coating of salt — had to rub some of it off. There’s plenty of street parking as well as a super small parking lot in the back. Be warned, this place is cash only and the line can get super long.
